Monster 1100? Streetfighter? Triumph? BMW? A lil birdie also mentioned that the MV Agusta is going to be launched, no info on the date though.

Haven't zeroed in on anything since I want my money well spent. Yes, I did think about the K1300R a lot but I might not put my money where my mouth is - 19 lakhs is really a lot of money to pay for a motorcycle, no matter how the headlamps look F800R? Maybe if they price it right.

One thing is sure - if the Ninja 1000 or Z1000 hits the shore at 8 lakhs OTR as rumored, that will help make up my mind real quick!

    • First servicing

Clocked 1000 yesterday.. it was time for my first servicing today... Had booked an appointment for 10.00' clock today at Ghatkopar Service Centre.... here goes my experience
      1. Located in a horrible place,
      2. there is a separate service bay for ninja.
      3. In-spite of taking an appointment, i was still made to wait for 2 hours, only when i lost my patience and shouted was my bike taken in.
      4. They dint washed the bike as the system was out of order
      5. Service guys for ninja knew their job.
      6. Normal oil change, (Bajaj 10000), oil filter change, air filter cleaning and other regular checkups...
      7. Surprising they dint had a paddock stand.
      8. Extra 2% if you pay by Credit Card.
      9. Asked about teflon coating... checked out the polish.. its the formula 1 carnabaux ... charge - Rs 1000 ( Already have it with me.. so i'm gonna go for DIY)

In all not a great experience after paying so much for a premium bike.

hai everyone..had a crash on my baby yesterday..no serious injuries to me thanks to my gear..but ninja took hard beating.right now i am having oriental insurance which will expire in a week..due to the crash i am planning to continue with the same insurance plan...

regarding the damage to my bike...right and left fairing, front cowl need to be replaced.front alloy is broken would like to know how much does the insurance covers on the metal parts because i remember that 100%coverage for the metal parts...and the exhaust had a bent and the mechanic at pk said that he need to check the bike to tell whether there is any need for the replacement for exhaust or not..would like to know..would like to your inputs regarding the cost of exhaust and what % of the cost of exhaust will the insurance cover??..would be happy if replied soon as i am going to visit the pbk showroom tomorrow to claim insurance

          • after long...

I have been travelling quite a bit these last few months & hardly been able to post.. feels good to be back

first things first - changed my nick from pc2211 to the current one

got some stuff for the bike from my recent trip to thailand... pics for reference.

The brake & clutch levers are shorties & fold up in case of a crash... picked them up for Rs. 1800 each... PRS ones cost Rs. 5200 each

Got the frame sliders for the same price that we get Puig here... around Rs. 5300.. but found these to be much better looking as well as of excellent quality... they are of course no cut... attach themselves to the 3 points on the bike...

Picked up the tails from PBK service centre at bbay (the most horrible service centre of course) for Rs. 4200 for the pair

its absolutely the worst service centre one can have for superbikes... right from the location to the 2% credit card charges, the waiting inspite of an appointment, lack of service tools (no paddock stand is a joke) ! Thankfully, the service guys atleast know their jobs well.

no doubt it ain't the best service centre, but the guys know what they are doing and that was comforting. My experience during the 2nd service was much better when i went in early at 9am...got done in good time, there were lots of Ninjas queued up by the time I left (around noon)
                ------

Separately, had gone to Kashid over the weekend and the baby Ninja gave trouble for the first time on the return journey. The rear brakes failed me completely just before a turn (thankfully was at a manageable speed). My first thought was that the brake line had snapped. Pressed down the brake pedal to full but nothing at all.

Wasn't carrying any spares so i thought i'll continue with the front brakes at a slow place and take it to pbk during the week. Tested the brakes after some time and they worked fine this time. Even tried hard braking a couple times and everything seemed ok. Not sure what went amiss earlier (it was raining). Anyone experience something similar?

Am due for a 3rd service so will get everything checked up anyways, but was a bit dis-concerting, took away the joy of the green scenic ride that Kashid is.

                • Xena Disc Locks ???

I planning to get Xena Disc Locks for Ninja. Looking at their product range on their websites, they have many series for that. I read on the thread before people here are using XX6 model. Can this one be easily fit on to the rear disc also or they are just for the front ones ?
If I get XX10/XX14, what they have extra that XX6 doesn't? Anybody using these please give in your suggestions.
I am confused for which model should I go for ???

I have seen the XX10/XX14, they are just too big and unnecessary. Might not even fit in the underseat storage, but XX6 does. XX6 is all the Xena you need.

The lime green debuted in 1986 with the GPZ600. All of Kawasaki's race teams have used the same shade of green. We'd like to believe we're part of those teams, so our Ninjas are green.

On another note, tried the Motoman break in and changed oil and filter at 417km. Was surprised at the amount of metal flakes in the oil - it looked like metallic paint. Put on Puig frame sliders - while no-cut, their installation is a lot more complex than appears at first glance. Especially on the left, you've to remove the rectifier and reinstall it with spacers. Reduced the rear preload to the softest and the ride has got worlds better (it was one step above softest.) Gear and brake levers are adjusted for my height now, but still managed a false neutral from 5th to 6th - this happens consistently with me. Is anyone else facing this problem?

Bajaj also handed me the motorcycle with the minimum amount of coolant, and, as I found out later, less than a litre of fuel. I'm SO glad I'm never going to go back to them unless I've got an electronic fault - and that's only because I can't get my hands on a scanner.

It's been over a week since the motorcycle was passed at the RTO but still no registration number. Does it always take so long?

                            Thanks guys for your inputs.
Will be going in for XX6/XX10 based on their availability and prices. I checked on ebay.in and ebay.com. On ebay.in only XNxx models are available and on ebay.com XX6 costs around 69$ and XX10 92.95$ but sadly they don't ship to India and I don't have anyone there who are coming here in 2-3months.
Is there anyway that I can get these in India or could be shipped here directly ?

Check for air in your rear brake line...bleed it yourself if you know the process; else get it done from the nearest PBK. Some of the Ninjas have been reported with this issue from the rear brake; in some cases, the rear brake jams up..in some, it simply does not bite.

What I learnt from this forum is that everyone following the regular run-in as per the manual hardly have seen any metal flakes in the oil
Presently I'm following the regular run-in and my speedo is at 500...

Regarding the registration, normally it just takes a week's time to get the permanent number.
The Temporary Registration number provided to you is valid only for one month.
