                • Ninja Price to increase??

                  Guys,

With the recent change in the definition of "CKD" units in this year's budget, it sounds to me that the Kwacker is set for a price hike. I am assuming here that Ninja comes with a pre-assembled engine, transmission and gear box etc. It also sounds like its not just these specific parts that are taxed at a higher rate but the entire bike that is assembled locally using such parts.

Does anyone know for sure when these changes come into effect? Is it March 01 or start of the next financial year (April 01)? I understand that the existing stock should be sold out at the current rate but you never know...

Does anyone know if Kawasaki is planning to manufacture these parts locally after setting up their Indian operations late last year?

If this is true, good news for those who are looking to sell their bikes. They might be able to quote a higher resale price. Bad news for prospective customers. This might lead them to the baby honda.

Thats good for me perhaps. I had a tentative plan of selling the bike sometime in not so distant future. If price hikes, then I might find it easier to sell mine off .
Secondly, the baby honda, despite being a good bike, doesnt appear to be the one comparable to Ninja.

And since its gonna be a mass production bike priced significantly lower than the ninja, it'll help retain the exclusivity of the ninja in the market.

It would be so boring if every other bike on the road was a ninja.

Any duty hike in Excise & Customs proposed in finance budget is effective immediately. In fact, the bonded warehouses are sealed prior to budget day and no manufacturer can sale goods before budget is declared.

Since the excise duty is paid at the time of sale, all unsold stocks would also attract higher duty (if applicable)

yeah, i really wish they don't start production in India and make it a common man's bike... but i'm expecting them to start selling after-market products......
