I wasnt there when they were fixing the rim. But basically its a heat treatment process where in the bent part is heated and "pressed" back into shape!Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostCould you please explain what exactly they did, and some pictures would be really helpful too!

Ditto with me as well, got the rim replaced under insurance. Total cost was around 26,000, out of which insurance paid 23,550.Originally posted by Hyperion View PostEven I have a bent rim, no air leakage though. The bike runs fine. I am going to get it replaced under insurance. I suggest you do the same. Avoid any urge or request to beat it back into shape.
Thought of taking the old rim (as it had a bent at one place only), repair it and keep it as backup. But, the insurance guy broke 2 spokes as well to make it unusable.

Thanks for writing in.Originally posted by Hyperion View PostThe rear rim costs something like 23K. Its your choice. I dont mind spending a few grand for the peace of mind it offers. Just dont try to beat it back in place, if anything, it will make things worse.
Will check out the detail with Sai Iyenger on that.Originally posted by Praful View PostEven my 220's rim had a bend in it. Got it fixed for 450/- at Sai Iyengar, Lalbagh Road last saturday. I was a bit apprehensive about the whole process as any kind of such treatment is bound to introduce some amount of wobble in the wheel as it wont be perfectly balanced anymore. But no such issues, I did not feel any wobbles yesterday even at 130+ speeds.
You can try your luck at either place to get it fixed rather than paying 95% of 23K!
oops.. i was thinking of other options may be like selling it(older rim) off in JC road and that miht reduce the burdun on my pocket.Originally posted by n_venki_2001 View PostDitto with me as well, got the rim replaced under insurance. Still confused I am...
whether to go for repair or replacement..
Had a word with Prasanna and he told me that i should go for insurance and get it replaced as he told that if i get it repaired .. and just incase of another impact the Rim would crack...
..
But are the Rim so fragile or he just told me to make some bucks.RIP Marco

Alloy wheels are made of an alloy of 2 or more metals, usually magnesium being one metal. The advantage is the wheel is light yet strong. But any damage will compromise its structural strength and therefore its not advisable to repair (by hammering or beating it down to shape) further making it weak.Originally posted by vkuchhal View PostBut are the Rim so fragile or he just told me to make some bucks.
Best and safest bet - get a new rim and peace of mind. You wouldnt want to have the thought of suffering a cracked rim at 140+kmph would you?

Yes, This is true for all FI engines (and cars too). When the engine is cold it will revv at a higher rpm than normal and once it reaches the optimum temp the revv's will stabilize at a lower rpm level.Originally posted by karthiktup View Postso it will warm up to 3000 and rest in 1300 - 1500
You can increase or decrease the idle speed. There is a screw for that. Refer to the manual for more information.

Check this out - Chain Lube... What Do You Use and Why?? - ninjette.org
Looks like its miles ahead of the Motul chain lube which we use for our bikes.
Have spoken to the guys at DuPont India and will try and source the product here.
Approx. cost is 900 per can (as confirmed by the DuPont rep) but trying to get a better deal since i am assuming a lot of us would like to use this instead of the Motul which is widely used.
More info when i hear from DuPont.
