I actually applaud for this move by Honda the same way Bajaj brought the iconic Ninja back then. It's just that for a customer, its a little unfortunate for it to come as a CKD.

Yeah...as of now looks like we might end up with the Ninja than the CBR. Your dream and the dream-rides are well known buddy and BTW, whats up with your ownership report? You've been unusually silent on that part...

if one is passionate about bikes and has basic tech know of a motorcycle, the cubic capacity of 250 cc is a mere number. it is what comes out that matters. ninja tops here. when you are riding the ninja at a 120 kmph on the highway , you can shift down and accelerate to 140 in flash and pull out more if required. this is not going to be there on the honda. you may have the honda (single cylinder ) shivering at 120 kmph compared to the ninja(twin) and i doubt you can shift down after that to get any useful acceleration.

all this is relevent only you are sporty rider and enjoy the power on tap. Else any bike including the honda CBR is game for you. looks is purely an individual perception and should not influence the buy unless you are sure " i dont care i love the look".

i am a family man, and ninja is not a family bike to go with a comfy seat for the pillion. here i am tying to adapt my bike to ride with my family and hope to do long rides with my wife as pillion.

Point well taken harikeshpk, since the last paragraph is about commuter bikes, Ninja 250R is definitely out of contention...

Why do we always end up comparing sports bike with a commuter bike. I have got a 4 wheeler for that. No bike is safe for anyone's wife/ children. I lost someone very special 12- 13 years back (in a bike accident, where her "dupatta" got entangled in the rear wheel while riding pillion and obviously she was not wearing any protective gear(s)). We would wear all the riding gears, etc., but do we care if the pillion rider(s) (wife/ children. etc.) are wearing any. I recently saw 5 heads on a commuter bike (4 were humans: a family: male, female & 2 children; 5th one was a dog). Obviously Kawasaki did not plan for this and thus they developed a sports bike for beginners (baby Ninja).

PS: Please do not take it personally. My intention was not to take a dig at anyone particular, but to point out what goes on as regular in our country does not happen with that regularity in developed nations. For regular commuting and somewhat safety (as compared to a bike), I would request all of you to get a 4 wheeler. With Nano coming so cheap, I do not think it would be a problem.

      • Gurpreet you are right. yes sports bike is not for family trips. but when i have taken my wife on my ninja i have taken some effort to see that she too is wearing basic protection.

you can see the link below of our ride. yes i am in the process of buying out a full outfit for my better half shortly.

yeah man, work has been crazy and they have blocked tbhp in office, by the time i reach home i am too tired to start posting

Havent really ridden much, the odo is about 950 now so time for 1st service. Will update post that. Rode to Maddur with Aditya and another friend sometime back where I completed the 1st run in of 4K and moved to 6K. Man was it fun, especially after ambling around at 60 kmph for 600 kms. I do rev till 8k once or twice every 100 kms and the way it picks up speed is not funny. Was forced to rev till 11k once thanks to some guys in an OHC Vtec trying to play around. Still remember it disappearing in the RVM and their faces when i slowed down later to let them pass :P

            • Hey guys ,

I'm sorry but i have a rather lengthy doubt and i hope u guys can help .
I currently ride a R15 and use Alpinestars Aero Gloves .
I'm booking a Ninja 250r next month and need to get some gear for it first .
Need help choosing between these gloves and jackets . Please keep in mind Chennai's terrible heat .
              Gloves:

SP-2 Glove - Alpinestars Official Store
              OR
SMX-2 Air Carbon Glove - Alpinestars Official Store

              Jackets:
T-Stunt Air Flo Jacket - Alpinestars Official Store
              OR

              Thanks In Advance .

@ mods : i posted here so i would get a quicker reply than in the gear thread . please delete if necessary .

Thanks bluevolt , I was thinking the same as well cause the SP-2 glove seems a little uncomfortable for this heat .

Thanks fire , I will be getting the T-Stunt Air Flo Jacket for sure .

                      • Full gauntlet is not the ideal for city riding, that's why I suggested the SMX shortys.

I have an A-stars shorty and BMW full gauntlet pro-summer gloves, but somehow I always prefer the short gloves.

                          • 33 or 26 psi

I have heard many a time that Indian Ninja 250R is of 26psi instead of 33. How much is it true? Please throw some light.

This is false.. it is 33 BHP. Check the Bajaj Kawasaki site for complete specs.

It would be good if you can buy the lid and the boots. But the lid has more importance....

Check out RJays range. Its an Australian company, pretty decent and they even have DOT/SNELL approved helmets
