Been through this thread, post by post. Found very few ownership experience write-ups. So thought I'd throw a few lines of my own to change the topic to a more philosophical one, rather than a the mostly-technical aura of this thread.
Been quite long since I wanted to get a bike. Began with dream of getting an RD350, but was compromised on that as my brother too had his pace set to getting the bike and after a long wait, eventually did.
Well atleast I was happy I would get to ride it though it was not my own bike in the complete sense. But it took him close to 3 years to realize his dream in the real world and be relieved of the impatience, and all the excitement of owning one for real. But truth be told, I wasn't really happy as I hardly got to ride it for 2 reasons, one-he wouldn't lend the bike for a ride often, two- I always had the feeling I was riding a bike that never belong to me in the first place, though it was my brother's, a very subtle feeling that.
But how many of us really feel the wait is worth for a good bike? Not many of us do, for most of us end up buying one for the sooner we get it, the more we get to ride it. I did and still do, use the car to commute and have no regrets whatsoever, for it's a Jap too, the Corolla. Lovely car. Sometimes, it is quite hard to feel that I have to part ways with it, for the car was so good, it had me think twice before I wanted to get a bike, though some would've felt it's stupid to think twice to change from the Corolla to the Ninja, some of my friends did. Though it was only 125 bhp and a family car, it's probably one of the best cars I will drive in life. Obviously, because it was the best selling car in the world at one point of time(I'm being a little stupid there), and I'm one of the customers or rather, the customer's lucky son . My friend's and my bro have been, since long, telling me that i should get a bike soon, the R15 or the zma, two lovely bikes no doubt, and ride around for long enough or be stuck with a weekend bike like the RD or Ninja(in my case-mostly though) and enjoy riding to far off places and experience the pleasures of motorcycling. But does that mean I'm actually 'stuck' with something? I'd say no, for the little I ride it, I definitely get immense pleasure to satisfy my excitement atleast for a few days. For that feeling is proof whenever I rode the RD and still do. But it is sane to say I'm missing out a lot of riding too by having said that. But the ethics at my place had 'no long trips on bikes amongst the list of rules, so I decided, if I was not riding for long distances, I'd atleast get a bike that made me happy for the little I ride. Any bike for that matter is fun riding even though it is for short distances, but I'd say if it's a Ninja I'm talking about, it is very much fun. But I did do a few trips with my friends on bikes(so far, my parents don't know). But yes, I'm hoping on doing long ones soon after my bike's arrived. A bit hard to bid adieu to the corolla for I feel I may not have had the fun of biking, but I definitely wasn't deprived of 'fun', for I realized, cars have their charm too. But as members here say, and the posts that I've read from their experiences on motorcycles, I'd say motorcycling is more fun that driving cars, atleast for now, but eventually, by choice or not, move to cars(most of them atleast) for obvious reasons, like OF said in one of his Hard Torque threads. So for now, i guess I'll be enjoying better off on two wheels, definitely . Maybe for now, 'Biker' is the part of me which defines my persona as a whole mostly(thanks to El LOCO DIABLO for those brilliant words), like it does for all of us here on xbhp.
So it's been a long journey till now, the journey of life that is, but no regrets whatsoever for the day when I finally own my very own bike is just a few days away and patience has paid off, one quality I learned to master over time, literally. And the thought of owning one and never giving up on it. The feeling is just over-whelming.
And not to forget all the eulogizing I wish to make for my dad for making me realize this dream, to Kawasaki for making something with so much heart and dedication and a truly potent machine for I don't feel it's pricey even at 3 lakh's(not that dad's bearing the brunt) for I'm someone who will wait and earn whatever it is that I wish to buy for it is worth all the effort that goes into earning it and making it and making the two ends meet synchronously(that's passion I'd say in a subtle sense), and to Xbhp and it's members for making me a more sane person even when I'm off the bike, for if not for this forum, I'd have been a wheelie boy with holes in my silencer and a notorious biker in town with an RX or a YBX and talk only about porting and chambers without the slightest knowledge about it all, or maybe not.
So whether it's painting the town green, or going green, etc., I'd love to be one amongst it all for the Ninja is coming alive in me. Wonder if ebay sells the Katana online :-P. Ninja is an epitome not just for skilled martial art, but also fits perfectly in the biking world.
Excitement levels growing exponentially, adrenaline pumping more than blood, body in a state of unrest, getting Ninja moves unintentionally, must be signs of Kawasaki's hypnosis.
Hats off to years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears for we only pay a sum of all the R and D that goes into making such potent machines, making our lives ever more exciting.
Now if you excuse me, I have some painting to do....where did I put my paint brush...Last edited by ironman; 03-09-2011, 10:50 PM.Riding is a way of life. Sometimes, it might also be a way of giving life. So Ride safe. In both contexts.

There are a few hotels near MMSC. I stayed at Paramount Inn last time. Price was around 1200 for twin sharing and the food was ok. Most imporatant.. it had good parking space for the bikes.
There are a few others hotels too, may be a bit more expensive.sigpicI feel like Clark Kent on the streets riding the Pulsar, On the track.. with my Ninja.. I feel like Superman.
