Shouldn't be an issue if there is no claim and if competitors are charging the same old rate.... which i doubt, cos the rest of the companies also will most definitely increase the premiums looking at the way claims are happening.
Well i have been thinking of that but since i am abroad that was not an option.

Last week i paid my insurance at Oriental in Bangalore, i shofted from the Koromangla branch to the Indiranagar branch & got a discount of 30%. I paid Rs 3441. I would suggest check with a different branch first before considering another company. I dont think they can catch customers unawares like that. If its true i think Bajaj would have hiked rates for the new bikes as well. I think you need to inform Bajaj about the same if the insurance is higher.

Back from the Ninja Track Day in Chennai, nice to meet all the Ninja Riders from all corners of India.

It was a well organized event by Bajaj Probiking, had loads of fun.

    @harikeshpk

    Nice pics.
Thanks for the info guys.. TTried renewing the same online and it worked on the third time. DOnt know if its got to do with debit cards (they say they accept both ) or dont know if its got to do with an ICICI debit card on a hdfc payment gateway , finally it worked with a credit card

The premium online and it came to only 4114. Apparently the lady was all bollocks of paying 10K.

On another note..even thou bike is costlier in bangalore the insurance seems to be cheaper by around 700 bucks

BTW i also got a no claim bonus of 845 bucks!

The break up is something like this

    BASIC OD COVER 4,454.17
    LESS :UNDERWRITER DISCOUNT 229.00
MOTOR OD BASIC - NEW 4,225.17
    BASIC OD TOTAL 4,225.17
    OD TOTAL 4,225.00
    LESS :NO CLAIM BONUS-GR27 845.03
    MOTOR TOTAL 3,380.00

ABS, my dear friend, as you need to know, prevents the wheels from not only locking up but also from skidding.

              • @ Green Day - It was a great track experience for a rider like me. Great to see lots of xBhpians there. Proud to say that our lot was the best of all.

Harikesh, Killer_Instinct, Arindam, Saurabh - It was great to meet you guys. Sorry I forgot names of other two guys. I am very poor at remembering names.

We talk on forum often but actually meeting that person is in another league.

                    1. I saw a automobile TV show where they compared two bikes. Rode both of them at high speed followed by abrupt braking. The one having ABS almost didnt skid in contrast to the other one.

                    2. Following are the excerpts from what I read around :

A Motorcycle Antilock Braking System (ABS) that helps maintain proper control of the motorcycle during emergency braking situations and thereby minimizing chances of skidding
ABS does not prevent skidding. Wheel lock is only one of the reasons for skidding. In basic terms, ABS just pumps brakes several times per second which any rider can't. ABS helps in applying maximum brake pressure without getting wheel lock. However, this does not prevent skidding.

TVS was really very happy with the launch and Mr. H.S.Goindi (President, Marketing) said that the company has been working for more than a year with their technology partner, Continental. He further said that the company is very happy to turn this concept of ABS in to a reality. At last he said that ABS technology prevents skidding and assists effective braking, especially in wet and muddy road conditions while providing for sharper and shorter cornering.

Please go through the writeup once again and if it really says what you have mentioned above, please ask a simple question to writer of that article - If my bike has ABS but I brake hard while leaning in a corner at high speed on muddy road, will it prevent skidding?

No one can change laws of physics. Only god can. We, humans can only minimize the risk but it is always present.
