  • went for "just another ride " today from vellore to chennai ECR road ,mammallapuram and back 400 kms.

well the joke part there was no paid parking any where there. had a ninja tour of the area and hit back to vellore.

so started at 5-40 am from vellore and back by 1-30 pm. survived on biscuits and amul buttermilk which was with me. i think i must have taken breaks totaling about 45 minutes. rest it was ride all the way. chennai city taking almost 2.5 hours(two way from poonamallee to ECR and back) in spite of being sunday.

slept for 2 hours and i am writing this post time now 5-40 pm. some body pain, but my back is feeling better compared to other times. i wear a lumbar belt to support my lower back whenever i ride long. high light saw one R1, one hayabusa they crossed me on the ECR at about 9-15 am.

one thing is sure. most cars are game to ninja on good roads and you are willing to twist throttle to max in the right gear. the car has to slow down once and ninja cuts it down. it feels good that even at 120 kms you can shift down and accelerate.

That's strange. I was recently offered 2.4L for my 8 month 8K Ninja.

On a lighter note, my buddy sold his X3 after 5 months and 4000kms for 12L less than his purchase price.

          • Left my Kwacker today for 1st service. The pbk guy suggested me to go for Bajaj oil. I inquired for Castrol Activ Xtra 20w50 in a shop which is next to pbk. But coz of its unavailability, I opted for CASTROL GTX 20w50. It costed me 690 bucks for a 3 litre can. Think tis just the same oil with diff. name?..

Do high performance machines and imported vehicles actually depreciate so fast? I doubt it.

IMO, the reason why the perception of depreciation sets in is due to people selling their machines in haste... for a sum that is lesser than what it can go for. Unfortunately this brings down the resale value for the bikes.

IMO, a 5k kms run ninja, less than a yr old can go for around 2.5 lacs. The seller obviously was expecting much lesser due to various reasons (could be a hurried sale).

In the South, the resale value is much higher than other parts of India. I remember, the Honda City Vtec was being quoted 5-6 lacs a few years back down south and this was shocking for people up north. The car in question was not very old and there were a number of examples of this kind

                The bike may be accident'd.
INDORE is known for lot of dubious things in second hand market.
To top it all, the bike is not having any service records too, and the seller is even ready to negotiate !

+1 to that, I am sure the owner must have been in a hurry.

                      • Now my ninja is 37 days old. I did 1769 km till now. I am getting 25km/l, dont know it is good or not. I am happy Ninja owner. PBK People are very helpful. I faced one problem. the grip(both) of the bike made my hand blackish and my hand smells really bad. so I complained, as of now they changed the grip with the test ride bike.let see what happen with that.

Has any one face the same problem?

here is some pic of my last short rides

25kmpl is pretty much what you will get on the ninja. Stick to 80kmph and the mileage will go up to around 30kmpl.

I get between 25 and 27kmpl on my rides which is a mix of straights and twisties.

I've always ridden with leather gloves so can't comment on this. The grips are made of rubber so that's probably why your hands stink after a ride.

Please invest in good quality riding gear and ride with it at all times.

P.S. Nice pics. Awesome riding company for your ninja. A CBR, CB and a VFR, all honda's with only one ninja.. wow !!!

If you have filled in car oil in your bike, change it ASAP. Car oils dont work in motorcycles. Always use oil that confirms to the specs mentioned in the manual (JASO MA). Specifically it should mention that it is designed for use in wet clutches. This is because in a bike, the engine oil is designed to lubricate the engine parts and the gear and clutch, while in car's the gearbox oil and engine oil are different and have their own reservoir's.

                                Nice pics Saurabh..

For the Avg. 25km/l is good.. when i rip the bike .. perfect shifts .. i get 23-25.. This time my trip to mysore was a mix of speeds from 80-120.. so got somewhere around 31-32km/l.

Earlier when i also use to ride without gloves.. i also use to experiece same problem as you have given.. but with time , the smell and blackish rubber on the hands disappeared.. and as Aditya pointed out .. get yourself a good set of riding gloves.
                                RIP Marco
