Congrats NiranjanOriginally posted by niranjanvaidya View PostHi guys!! just got the delivery of my green Ninja today! One more addition to the 250R owner's club!
Green or Black ??

The fairing on my ninja was saved only because i had fixed the frame sliders. They are worthy to buy IMO. Costed me around 5K. The payment and shipping went smoothly for me. I recevied it on the 5th day after I made the payment.
Have finalized to go for KRP frame sliders over Puig...
KRP having a separate fitting inside with three different screws feels like the weight will be distributed rather than the two screws pretty close to each other for the Puig
Only issue is regarding the price....
Now its priced at 6.5k

Riding with the wind 800 kms on my ninja in a day
did an 800 kms ride in 11 hours from vellore to trivandrum on 12th June 2011. had some scary experience with the winds near Thirunelveli. detailed ride report and pictures in tour thread. http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/1...tml#post652207the wind part of the write up is reproduced below for all ninja owners info.
"The wind was heavy since morning but I was able to keep up good speeds from 80 to 120 kms without much problem. Only when I reached thirunelveli the wind showed its true colours. I was riding on the right side of the centre line and twice my ninja was pushed out by sudden burst of wind and I found I am riding on the left of the centre line and I was lucky I was still on the bike. Then came the icing on the cake. I just could not ride the bike at all. The wind was too much and my ninja was wobbling like there is no control. I had to put in all just to stay on the bike . I was riding at a speed of just 40 kms praying that I stay on the bike. This continued for about 30 kms and after that I was able to speed up to 60 kms and ride with extreme caution. With much relief the highway ride came to an end and I got into the state highway leading to kerala".
any similar experiences ?Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

^^ you've done well to carry on in one piece
! were you wearing any figure hugging jackets (preferably leather?)? they help in these sort of conditions.
i've had a similiar experience in the uk once, had to stop on the hard shoulder because the winds were so strong that even travelling at 20mph was difficult! later i gave the pillion the textile jacket and i wore his leather jacket, things were considerably easier on me as i travelled at 40mph through those winds (the pillion though was having a really tough time)

Went for a small ride today - around 120kms
Riding at 4k rpm at roughly 60kmph on the Ninja felt very cool
Even the tyres were in run-in so took the ride very very cautiously
Did a small photoshoot but the climate condition was not much suitable for getting some great pics...
Some pics

No leathers i was having cramster jacket and pants. i am still confused about the usability of leathers in south indian climates of rain and shine out of the blue especially in my home state of kerala. except may be in Bangalore, rest of the places the leathers takes the juice out of your body during day rides in no time. still leathers are the best protection. yeh i am planning on a set may be Rjays.

you're right about the practicality of wearing leathers during rains (specially due to the unpredictable nature in kerala) but the extent of dehydration during day rides is vastly exaggerated (except the peak summers). i wore my leather during may at temperatures of over 40C and i was perfectly fine maybe because there are many air vents and in most of the places the leather is perforated so it wasn't that difficult (humid conditions will probably make it worse though). i did have a fall recently and if it weren't the leather, i would've ended up with few broken ribs and a broken shoulder!Originally posted by harikeshpk View PostNo leathers i was having cramster jacket and pants. i am still confused about the usability of leathers in south indian climates of rain and shine out of the blue especially in my home state of kerala. except may be in Bangalore, rest of the places the leathers takes the juice out of your body during day rides in no time. still leathers are the best protection. yeh i am planning on a set may be Rjays.

Ahem! Sorry for continuing the OT, but without offense buddy, but I don't think the leathers had anything to do with preventing broken bones.
Leather provides superb abrasion protection and not impact protection - your leathers probably have these built in, and hence the impact protection during your crash.
But you're right about the usability of leathers in hot weather - I've had the same experience. Obviously textiles are much cooler than leathers but they are not impossible to live with if properly vented and perforated for air flow - and if humidity is low.Last edited by Sunnyside_up!; 06-20-2011, 12:35 AM.

i should have been clearer...
i haven't made any comparisons between the textiles and leathers in terms of impact or abrasion protection. i merely stated the fact that on that day, if it weren't for my leathers i would've sported few fractured bones. ( i normally wear a denim jacket or just a plain Tee during shorter rides). but yeah obviously one needs the protectors either to be built in or separately worn to be able to provide adequate impact protection. the leathers do provide superior abrasion protection as i was personally witness to it.Last edited by therealabhinav; 06-20-2011, 02:59 AM.
