For the Ninja 250r the facts stated by Bikemanic are correct. In 6th Gear at 4K RPM it is a little less than 60kmph on the speedo and a little over 80KMPH at 6K RPM.
What I wanted to say was a difference of 2-3kmph is possible due to other constraints too..
Better not to worry in these initial stages and enjoy the run-in period...

Sure man, I didn't mean to undermine what you were saying.
By the way, I was going through your flickr photos. May I know which Camera you used for these. These are just awesome.

              • GT650R Accident.

Guys are you aware of the incident involving the Hyosung GT650r in Ahmedabad? For those of you who are'nt, Melroy Alphonso one of my FB biker friends encountered some problem with the fuel pump of his bike, while he was on a 'sadddle-sore' mission and at that point of time he was somewhere in Ahmedabad.

Apparently he called up the hyosung service and they agreed to provide service at 1:30 A:M. What followed is bizzare..the mechanic repaired the bike, took it for a test ride, crashed the bike and died!!

Now Melroy and the Hyosung dealer are at war as to who is to blame for the damages to the bike and more importantly the loss of life. The idiot of the Sales Manager at the dealership is generally accusing all the bikers and calling them 'Bastars' (sic). In case you guys want to follow what is happening, this is Melroy's F.B page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=836108078 and this is the Hyosung / Garware Sales Managers: https://www.facebook.com/dhwanish.kingmaker

All of us are very fortunate to have the Bajaj backup for our Kawasaki's but we need to be careful too.

                • Beware of the brakes!

Had an incident (didnt fortunately turn out to be an accident) today wherein i got rear ended by a tempo traveller. There was a tata winger going in front which braked hard and me too braked hard, the rear swung and stopped within a centimetre of the winger. But the tempo behind had drum brakes and hit me from behind after screeching his tyres. . The tempo hit me and i hit the winger. Fortunately happened at a low speed, didnt even fall off the bike. The impact was taken by the rear fender and the tyre and had no visible damage. Nothing happened to the winger, ninja or the tempo.Everyone lived happily everafter!

So make sure you have one eye on the rearview mirror when you brake hard. The vehicle behind might not have the luxury of the brakes you have!

Sad to read about this. Hope it is resolved soon. Sadly there is loss of life in this incident which cannot be replaced. Hopefully the insurance co. and Garware Motors step in to resolve the issue before any more mess. That sales manager should be given a stern warning. He is into selling sports bikes and has the arrogance to abuse the very people who put food on his plate. Shame on him.

Tap your brakes before a hard braking maneuver so that the person behind knows that you have initiated braking. The tail light flicker should get his/her attention. This is my habit but of course if he was following closely behind nothing much can be done.

Glad nothing more serious happened. Take care and ride safe.

P.S. Any progress on making the ninja faster? From what i have read in the US forums, the EX500 engine is a bolt-on fit onto the 250R chassis. You will probably need to upgrade the brakes if you decide on an engine swap. All the best.

This reminds me of a similar incident that happened to me couple of months back wherein a Ritz driver and his friends were try to click pics of my bike.

It was a narrow road with speed humps at every 600-700 m. the driver was following me quite closely and when at a speed hump i slowed down, i heard the brakes squeaking noise from the rear. looking at my RVM, saw the car approaching fast towards me.. finding no other option other than to accelerate , i pulled up the throttle and jumped over the speed hump... luckily i save myself and my beloved from a crash.
                      RIP Marco

quite unfortunate incident there with mel. garware should be more responsive and have the issue sorted out especially as they had sponsored the ride. this a classic case of hyosung taking their customer for a ride a bad ride. very bad on their part.
