As far as CBR vs Ninja goes,I too went through the same stage.
CBR though it might be a 250cc ,is a lot different than the Ninja.Ninja is a proper sports bike and the CBR is a sports tourer.

      Whats so special?
Ninja gives you a unique feeling,CBR is a bike made for the masses!
Ninja gives you a 'big bike' feel.
Having test driven both,I felt the more committed feeling on the Ninja,I felt it was more involving feeling.

And as for the topspeed you have mentioned,
There is more to a bike than topspeed!
and the topspeed of CBR you have mentioned is incorrect.Maybe it was modified or there was a huge tailwind. But here on this forum itself many have reached 170+ on the Ninja
IMO its not the topspeed of the bike that matters,Its how you get there.

Ninja is an out and out performance oriented bike,
Arguably the best 250cc in the world and also the most sold 250cc bike in the world.
Ninja is waayy different than CBR.
Please dont take my word for it.(I have just booked the bike)Just have a look of all the satisfied Ninja owners on this forum itself!

Just have a look at this brilliant comparo. It will clear all your confusion!

let me take this opportunity upon myself
alright so first Honda vs Kawasaki..all honda vehicles have initial torque. Their powerband is mainly in the lower+mid range unlike others (Suzuki, yamaha etc) so don't worry about the torque bit
There are many claims about the CBR doing 175 or so while there have also been videos about the N250 doing 190kmph. so it's up to you what you believe.
The N250R's engine is the highest revving engine in the world touching 14000rpm, you can imaging the range it gives you to experiment with different gears while cornering. Being a parallel twin and running at such high rpm there is enormous amount of stress on the engine parts, but there are people around the world owning the n250r for years-so that adds up to reliability.
the Ninja is not made in India, which is the main reason for it's high cost. honestly speaking-the honda(250) parts are no way in comparison to Kawasaki's standards (w.r.t Ninja 250r)
Personally ninja is a bigger big(size), it's not a commuter/tourer/sports (like the CBR 250) its a sports bike only. the way in which both bike touch their respective top speeds is certainly different. The Ninja is way faster in gear response and climbing the rev band.
The reason why I chose the Ninja is I wanted an international bike and the best in class too. I would have bought the CBR but it just would not be able to stay with me for several years as the Ninja can as it has been with other. Moreover it's got millions of accessories and aftermarket stuff that you can buy over the years. Yes the CBR has more features in numbers but the Ninja 250 asks the money because of quality, engine performance and international build.
Believe me Ninja kills any 250 on a straight line drag but on a circuit it's more on the rider. On the circuit while the others are changing gears in the 7-8k rmp you'll be doing the same in 12k or so. You'll feel the punch and pull when you get the chance.
to make it easier, test ride both, you'll notice the different

currently iam also going through same state as yours ... but in my case its purely b/w Ninja and GT250R ... as there are some valid questions which u have asked .. let me put my personal perspective ..

None of these CBR/Ninja/GTR are proper sports bikes .. they might be called as sports bikes [>=250cc]
            GT250R>Ninja>CBR in size
the statement from vijit that CBR is for masses is true in India
and trust me none of the bikes will reach actual 170kmph speed [all speed by U-Tube.etc..etc.. are speedo ], as stated by some professional reviews all three bike top wack is around 150+/- there is not much difference b/w them except some +/- 5-10km

Now come to the actual point of Price ..

Ninja/GTR High price justified ?? absolutely NO
in the above two bikes companies also can't do much at current ,.. due to high import taxes and falling Rupee value + companies profits,..everything [burden] passed to customer. so the customers of these bikes are the guys who wants to be special and wants to be recognized differently [may it be price/performance/sporty style/etc..]...as its very much true whether some one like it or not CBR can do same that the above two bikes can achieve [consider CBR as both interms of features like digital speedo..etc..which Ninja lacks and better fit-finish ...which GTR lacks ].

so now u have the ans... if you wants to be something special ..u know what to choose ..but that comes with price ... may be interm of initial owning and also in spares
            Nothing is Impossible ...

Nagoo,If you remember I was also most convinced about buying the GTR,
But I changed my mind after the price came out.

When I mentioned 170+,I meant the speedo values. Not true speeds.

But the Ninja's topend performance is far better than that of CBR's.
I agree CBR 's VFM,can neither be matched by Ninja or GTR

But its my opinion that CBR lacks that "feel' when compared to Ninja.(Insanely high revving parallel twin!)

And Ninja being overpriced is not entirely true.
we get the Europe spec FI ninjas and not the carb ones of the U.S
And they cost roughly about 4000 EUR so about 2.75l which is the same as the ex showroom price here.

And the GTR which is priced below the Ninja abroad wears the same price tag here, and also it has been detuned to meet the Indian emission standards.
For the price of the Ninja you get a bike which performs just on par with CBR,lacks the fit and finish and yet it is priced same as the Ninja!

And Hyosung has the audacity to announce that the price would be reduced by 1.5 lakhs in the future.
I mean who would want to buy a bike knowing that the price would fall down by 1.5 lakhs in a few years.God save the resale value!

yes i remember.. anyhow The person who confused on the price got his answer i guess.

and regarding GTR price now it seems low compared to ninja [with recent price hike] i think in international market also Ninja priced ~500$ above the GTR and here also its the same.

Even something better than Ninja comes also [which will happen], Ninja will holds it class and fans .. which it earned from past 20+ years.
all we can hope is make Ninja localized and some how drastically reduce its spare parts price, as many will say Owning is one time affair but maintaining it is lifelong

                    • I had asked he same question almost a year back.
The answer i go was simple.
Ride a NINJA and you'll never getting one.i got my ninja last year and I can say there has not been a single regret.
I did test drive the cbr and also rode my friends cbr a number of times. The feel is totally different, the character, the uniqueness, the quality and finally the smile when you see a NINJA on road.
Go for it,you'll own the BEST!
