  • Need some help guys. I was not riding my Ninja for past 2 months. Off late due to rains in Delhi, it seems the fuel tank cap has got jammed.

Tried pouring WD40 as well into the lock. Still it's not budging.

Also, could somebody tell me if the entire key goes into the fuel tank lock or only half or 3/4 of it? I am unable to recollect. In my case only around half of the key is going in. Broken already one of keys due to this.

    Please suggest.

Only a part of key enters the fuel tank cap, I think half key enters the lock and then we have to rotate the key to left side to open the cap.

      • GPS Mount

        Hi Guys,

I have downloaded a GPS app on my phone called navigation india. Once downloaded it will work without internet and will give turn by turn navigation. Its a paid app and I am using the trial version right now.

The question is how do I create a mount on my Ninja 250 for my phone. I am clueless about it. Just in case it helps I use a Samsung Omnia W Windows phone.

Looking forward to some insinghts. Thanks.

As the lock would not budge, took into the Probiking service center. With the help of some lubricants, screw driver and hammer, the mechanics forced it open.

By the way, if the lock had to be replaced for Ninja from Probiking service center it would cost around Rs. 10,000. As all 3 locks (handle, tank and Rear seat) comes as a set. Would need to buy the set and replace for all.

With the billet keyless fuel gas tank cap, can anybody open it? As there is no key.

Yup. It can be opened by anyone. Will not be okay if you keep the bike unattended\uncovered much.
I did not think about that before posting. My bad.

                    • If the battery voltage is around 10V, will the Ninja start? or it has to be at 12V?

What is minimum volt required for self start?

Wow. Sure brings back memories. Had the same problem In April last year. Since i was out of the country, my dad used to only start the bike occasionally and had no need to open the gas cap as i had topped her up before leaving... BIG MISTAKE. Managed to get it open after around 2 hours of soaking in WD-40. I will never forget those nail-biting moments!!

My battery was around 10.4 V. Engine did not start. Got it charged and it showed around 12.8 V and the bike started. Seems like it does require 12V or more. On charging battery it does go upto 13.8 or 14V.

With 10.4 V, the horn was very weak and the indicators did not blink, they just stayed on.
