Please don't wait for them to send a reminder. They never do.

Just take the valid insurance policy to the office and ask them how much the renewal premium is. You can pay the same and the renewed insurance policy will be valid from the last date of the current policy. They will give you a print out right there. You can do this 15 days before expiration of the current policy.

IIRC, the cost of the service came up to around 5k excluding cost of engine oil as i bought and carried the engine oil from outside. This was over a yr ago, now the charges may be a tad higher. Do take a look at the maintenance schedule mentioned in the manual and it will give you details of what are all the jobs required on the bike at the III service. Look for my post and you might find details on the break-up of charges in the bill.

I would suggest you to opt for Motul 20w50 7100 Fully Synthetic oil. This is a single ester oil. The 300v Racing line is a double ester (just thought i'd clarify the differences b/w these 2 oils).

I have been using this oil (7100) for over 17,000 kms (bike is now at 27,000kms) and the oil is fantastic. I change oil every 5k kms and oil filter every 10k kms. The bike is butter smooth with this oil.

Not much. They might charge you labor at the most, considering no parts are being replaced.

The service folks will not do this for you. You will have to get it done from outside - someone who is familiar with bike electricals and knows what he is doing. Else you might end up with fried fuses.

Thanks a lot for all the information.
I guess you got me wrong on the insurance part.
The bike is already insured which is valid till June 2013, however its on the previous owner's name.
Either ways I need to insure this bike asap on MY name fresh.

So i was asking which insurer is the best considering all the things which this bike needs and hassle free stuff.

Besides the Motul 20w50 7100, shall i buy 2 bottles or one ?
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

You can transfer the insurance after you get the RC book printed to your name. Visit the Iffco guys and they will give you the updated cover note. After the period gets over you can change the insurer.

For the Oil, Ghatkopar SVC now stocks Motul 7100 - I guess others will have it as well. You will need 1.6L i.e 2 bottles.

                • I have come to the cross roads on my NInja 250R!! I need some tyres for it ASAP, otherwise am ready to haul it to the second floor and keep the bike in my fridge!

Any one knows where i can get a pair of Pirelli sport demons anywhere in India? Am ready to pay for shipping and prob a commission as well!

The only option right now is to put a KTM front tyre (same load rating but a speed rating (S) equivalent to 180 which should be ok) and a r-15 rear tyre with again the same load rating but a speed rating (P) of only 150!

Has anyone tried any of these combinations?

Had the same problem myself. Did 22k kms on my bike before I had to change the tires. Turns out even the stock ones are not available in the market. PBK quoted "roughly 10-12k saar". Finally, I managed to get a Pirelli Sport Demon 130/70-17 from Sai Iyengar Tires, Bangalore. Yet to find a good front tire though. The PSD cost me Rs.4600.

You can try contacting them for the same.
