What is minimum volt required for self start?
For a self start 12.4V or more is required.

      Good Information...

Another option is to go for a cheaper option of wurth bulb, 12V 55W H7 costing 200 bucks including Taxes...

Hope you are all right mate.
If I remember right, the headlight+front fairing combo was around 15k - but not sure. But anyways you can claim insurance and get ~90% for metal parts and 50% for fibre. 50% of labour costs will be refunded as well in most cases.

P.S: There is a frame that holds the headlight\fairing in place - check if it is not damaged as well.

        • Battery.

Guy, my battery is about 2.5 year old and has developed some problem.

Pro Biking is suggesting i replace the battery with the ones they use for KTM DUKE ( Exide VRLA 8V ) giving same output : 12V 8A.

Has anyone used it . This one costs about 3K (original is appx 9k from probiking)

          Any suggestions / alternatives

This seems to be a good vfm deal and option. just check for the sizing details for a perfect fitment and also the CCA (cold case cranking ampere).. as far as I remember it should be between 135 to 150.

Trying searching outside for the same specs battery... I think it might be cheaper than 3k .. as bajaj always keeps a big margin for itself.

                • A bit of thread drift, but pertinent: Just encountered a young man this morning in Bhubaneswar on a green Ninja. I followed him until he had parked and then advised him to fold his mirrors out, as I would hate to see his bike wrecked because he couldn't see someone coming up behind him. I don't know if he's on this thread, or even this board, since he seemed kind of distracted when I mentioned this to him, but if you know this guy, I'd appreciate you reinforcing the reminder. His bike has a black license plate (and you probably should remind him to fix that too), and the last three numbers are 515. And if all of you stop one biker today and remind them to get their mirrors back in action, you very well may have saved many lives either today or in the future.

Folding your mirrors in doesn't make you "cool", or make your bike more aerodynamic (not that it would matter at the slow road speeds of India). You're not doing yourself or any other drivers around you a favor by not using your mirrors. They're not there for decoration; if you don't know how to properly use them, LEARN! This "disease" seems to afflict riders of bikes like the Ninja, the R15, the various Apaches, the Pulsar 200 and 220 and the Fazer most of all, but it afflicts other models as well. Your mirrors are probably the second most important safety device after your helmet. Don't fold them in, and don't take them off.

Current bike: Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere

Put the phone away, put your helmet on, and ride!

Scooters are like fat girls: fun to ride, but embarrassing if your friends see you with one.

You can use any battery that fits the battery compartment properly (not loose/sliding around), and has at least the same CCA that the stock one does. If you can find one, a battery with more CCA will be beneficial, as it will retain more power as it gets hot, and will give you more starting attempts before going flat if the bike doesn't want to kick over. More CCA will not damage the bike; for the purposes of this situation, think of it as a "deeper well" you can draw power from. It's not going to fry the starter motor since the motor will only take what it needs; the battery is a passive participant in the circuit.

Being doing this from many years but still see new idiots ride it with fold mirrors. Don't know what benefit do they get with fold mirror?? And how many more to educate ??
How do they see rear vehicles ??

Once I saw a man riding with constant looking at back, When asked then he said my right mirror don't pose straight, it is lose. what crap!!
Then why din't he change the mirror.

There are 1k of accidents in India but still people don't learn!!
I think all vehicle should keep a family pic at their console, Dashboard !!

                      • Long time since i updated here. Met with a freak accident while riding my Ninja. A Swift with "L" sticker made a lightning quick lane change which didnt give me enough time to react as i was trying to overtake it from the right hand side(@70-75km/hr). I did honk 6-7 times but he was unperturbed and made the move. My left fairing and the indicator kissed the car (@ arnd 25km/hr) and as the bike became imbalanced i hit the divider where my right leg and the fairing grazed through the divider causing scratches on the fairing and my leg which has been badly bruised and my ankle which has swollen now. Leg has been plastered from past week and i am not able to work/ride.

Some people need proper riding/driving etiquette. The accident has been recorded in Hero HD and i have kept the footage for lodging a complaint who fled the spot without stopping. I couldnt lift the motorcycle and localites helped me in getting the bike up.

Really sad incident. Do file a complaint, ignorants like that should be punished.

Totally agree with your post. Many times I used to wonder why people who ride P220 with mirrors folded inside. Earlier I used to think it was some cool thing or a latest style or something like that. But couldn't figure out what will they do in highway, if they are there.
In highways, it is better to not ride than riding without mirrors. With mirror itself, sometimes many have had narrow escapes with speeding swifts and polos. Not only in highways, while overtaking in normal roads are also they are essential and mandatory.
May be Government can enforce Helmet (which is enforced in BLR), RVM, ABS etc..
