  • Re: Kawasaki Ninja 250R

3rd servicing of Ninja done at around 11000 kms. Also my bike is a year old now. Post-crash i am logging in kms rather slowly. Haven't done any long-rides since the month of March.

-Engine Oil changed to Fuly-synthetic(Motul 7100)
    -Rear Brake pads-Replaced

    Overall expense:Rs.4500

Post the oil change the bike has become remarkably smoother and revs like anything. The bike hits 160km/hr easily(max i have hit around 170km/hr) and even at those speeds feels surefooted. Wish the front brake had a better bite and more torque in the mid-range(300 is so much better in the mid-range), which are the only two gripes i have noticed in the Ninja 250R. Thinking of plonking in braided brake line, a frame slider and a slipon..Any good suggestions?

Nice pics buddy.. the last two are beautiful.
I use the puig frame sliders - no need to cut open the frame for them.

AS long as you aren't having issues with the battery there is no need to change IMO. The rear costs around 9K at the svc centre. Front would also be the same. I got my tyre changed to the CBR's 140/70 and it cost me just rs2800. I couldn't source PSDs and I didn't have so much faith in Dunlops. I guess KTMs front is also good as it is soft. Again it is adviced to use both the tyres of same make but IMO this combo works best for the Ninja as far as grip is concerned +fatter tyre, and you cant find PSDs
regarding tyres some times i am confused. there is so much theory. the story is like it is always better to go with stock tyres. the quality of the supplied tyre matters for performance bike. your wheel balance may not be affected including when on high speed ride. like all good things tyres also have a shelf life used or not. in my opinion a tyre made under 2 years is to be preferred. i am not going to flood theory here, but finally if you want true output of your ninja without any compromise as on date you have to buy the tyre IRC from PBK.

While searching for tyres,I came across this
          Triad International
They are supposed to be dealing with IRC tyres and another brand called VEE. Does anyone here have any kind of prior experience with them?

Nice pics. I personally feel the Ninja deserves more bite with the front brake which is why I'm also looking to source steel braided brake lines. Please let us know from where and how are you sourcing them. I was looking specifically for Gaffler or Halls brake lines.
PlanetDSG previously had them on the website, by the time I decided to buy them they were off the webpage.

For brake lines you could try HEL. I have a set on my R15, works as advertised. Though, for my 300 I am trying out a set of Spiegler, just for the look and finish.

For the slip on; if you are looking for performance, then, a slip on is not going to do much for you. If you are looking for sound, looks and shaving a few pounds then you could look at the Hot Bodies, Leo Vince, Yoshi or Akra slip ons. Personally, I like the sound of Leo Vince's LVI and the looks of the Hot Bodies.

Frame sliders; no clue as I have never tried them and personally I am a little conservative and the idea of drilling holes into a frame makes me uncomfortable. I know there are frame sliders that come with their own bracket and do not require making holes in the frame, but the idea that any lateral impact getting directly transmitted to the frame makes me a little queasy.

Can you please let us know where did you source the HEL brake lines? and how easy was it to install them.

Need to know cos I'll be doing it on my own

You can get the HEL lines from http://www.pitstopperformance.in/home.html. They are blot on lines and direct replacement. There is no adjusting or modification required. I did the installation personally and they are good for the lifetime of your bike.

As Abhimanyu advised, give them a buzz. They will ask you to transfer funds first n then would ship the lines the same/ next working day.

I don't think changing the plugs should be required at 6K kms, but 2 years old, then maybe. Personally, performance spark plug might not give too much improvement in performance. At least not easily notable. So I would personally consider sticking to stock plugs or NGK for Ninja 250R. But i'm not aware of the price of they cost.

In case you really want performance spark plugs you can check for iridium, which again might not give much increase in performance but will last for long.
