haven't been to a track day yet but will definately try to make it this year.
there are a good variety of corners in my area thanks to the many flyovers we got here, so currently i make do with those. :-)

    • Just wanted to update about my findings during my recent ride to Goa :

The ride was 952 km. Out of that around 500 km was done above 120 kmph and rest was done between 60-80 kmph. I needed to fill in only 26.33 ltr. fuel. It translates to an average of 36.15 km/ltr.

Slower riding has its own benefits.

      • Hello everyone.

I am having an issue with the rear tyre puncture with my green ninja.
there's a big enough hole in the rear at the center which having fixed twice still leaks air.
the puncture guy had put 2 different repair strips both the time as the hole was big, still its no use, if the bike remains standstill for 3 days the tyre gets totally flat.

I am worried about bending the rim using it this way, and the tyre is just 9000 kms old.
I inquired about PSD but they are not in stock until march according to the dealer near my place.

One of the puncture repair guys told me that your tyre is in decent condition and as it has only 1 puncture, you can fix a patch on the inside of the tyre which will do the job.

Now I know that I cannot take this bike anywhere to get the tyre removed as I don't want my rim to be hammered while removing the tyre, hence I am asking you guys is it recommended to get that patch fixed or should I replace the tyre altogether...
Either ways do recommend me a worthy place to get any of there done...

        • Personal experience: Prefer to change the tyre as soon as possible. For the time being (till you get new rubber) as a work around, you can use that patch that you were told about, it does work but I wouldn't recommend keeping the bike running on that tyre condition.

          • Hello Everyone....
Been a while I posted in this thread...

Just a small update from my end.
Its been 1.5 years with the green baby (Named: SCREAMER) and 15,000kms of only touring and long rides.
Awesome experience with this mean machine and it makes sure to leave a smile on my face everytime I ride her...

The bike is all stock as of now. Parts replaced are spark plugs, air filter and the rear tyre (Went for IRC again as PSD's were not available) No major problem faced until now.

I'm doing most of the regular maintenance by myself.... like Brake Bleeding, Done the brake oil overhaul with DOT4, Brake pads replacement, Air Filter Cleaning, chain lubing etc.
Did I mention, I love working on my bike...

Some of the Multi day tours include:
            1. Hyderabad-Bangalore-Ooty
            2. Hyderabad-Vizag-Araku
            3. And countless weekend rides to almost all popular places around Hyderabad
            Planning for Hyderabad-Kerala this year...

Will update some pictorial description of the DIY maintenances soon if you guys are interested

                Thanks Mithun
The location is Pocharam Dam, Medak, Andhra Pradesh
It was the time when the dam was overflowing during monsoons...

                  Hi Kiran
I was willing to change the brake lines to steel braided ones but i'm paranoid with the thought of bleeding the brake as it damages the paint if spilled over. So could you please post a DIY of the same considering I have no idea how to do it. and for the Air filter cleaning as well as this sponge type air filter is a first time for me. Though I've worked with paper type filters for cleaning and stuff.

@All, can you guys tell me how frequently the air filter requires replacement, cos my Service Center guy said replacement is done at 10000km, while I think I read it to be replaced in every service. So which are you guys following?

                    Hey Bud....
Just use a pipe (Found in hardware shops) and put it on to the bleeding hose
Route the pipe to some container so that there would be no chance of the spillage of any sort....

Air Filter replacement is normally done every 10k kms
You can either clean it or even change it during every service... New air filter costs some 350 (As far as I remember)

I will post the pictorial DIY soon...

10000 kms changing frequency is for paper type filters because it cannot be cleaned effectively. Sponge type filters will last much longer and it can be cleaned to become like new. The frequency of cleaning air filter written on Owners Manual is every 12 k kms (not good on Indian dusty conditions). But it suggests to do it more frequently in dusty and rainy conditions. Cleaning it every 3 k kms or 2 months is what i am doing. It can be easily done at home. Just clean it with kerosene, dip it in 30W motor oil then squeeze it and put it back. Refer owners manual for detailed instructions. About replacement, manual says to replace it every 2 years.

Thanks guys, I did go through the instructions on the manual and decided to keep the filter clean till 10-12k of running. Cleaning should not me much of an issue so I'll stick to it for the moment.

The brake bleeding still makes me nervous, but the video really helps, and at least I'm not paranoid like earlier
I will order steel braided brake lines and see how I can manage on my own.

btw, I had to inform you all, for those who aren't interested in a hugger or have/had trouble installing it, I found an alternative for protecting the rear suspension. Here it is.

this is similar to what the earlier R15 had for protecting the rear suspension during rains.

                        • Hello All,
The dipper bulb of my N250 has gone kaput. I am looking for a replacement and the OEM Bulb costs 1K. Can anybody suggest some good option? I've searched the thread and found Philips Xtreme Vision to be the popular choice here. Any feedbacks from those who have installed them will be helpful.
Also, I need to know that should I change both the bulbs or just one. Can anybody of you tell me where can i procure this bulb in the Navi Mumbai area?
                          Thanks in advance.

You can call Babloo Motors in Vashi and they should be able to give you Xtreme Vision for Rs.700. It is whitish yellow in color. Alternatively, one of friends low beam went Kaput like yours and PBK did not have OEM bulb in stock and they added Pulsar 220's bulb in N250R and my friend was extremely satisfied with the illumination. You might wanna check that as well as it was around 200-300 Rs. I guess.

I have observed that it can pull in 6th gear at sppeds like 50-55. is it advisable to do so?? I have completed 570 kms.

She will pull even from 30 kmph at 6th

Just make sure you move across the entire 4k band as much as possible during run in - Keep varying revs.
