    I heard there is a guy in Church Street, Bangalore, who will custom do ninja seats ( with memory foam and and top seat cover).

    They say that you ass actually thanks you for getting it done ( if you have ever been on a ride of more than 250 kms, you know what i mean).

    Can try and get you a number, should work out cheaper that replacing a seat.

      Well I am actually planning to redo the seats, but since my seat is in extremely good condition at the moment I'm having some difficulty coming to terms for a re-foam. :P
      However I'm not looking to replace the seat for sake of replacing, I love the seat cowl on the green ninja,.. gives it a more sporty look. But all the ones I've came across so far are too expensive. I feel spending over 4k for just a piece of plastic is not worth the buy, as I could invest it in filters or frame sliders as such... but then again I might eventually give into the constant urge inside to get the cowl

          Yes but what choice do we have? In any case if someone really wants it then... go for it. These are the original accessories from PBK. I should warn you to be careful of the rubber grommet that goes in the bike that holds the cowl. It has a tendency to disappear..... . Mine got stuck to the metal portion of the original seat when i was swapping out the cowl to accommodate a pillion. I forgot to remove it and then..man what a pain it was. Cowl becomes very loose without this piece. Luckily PBK had replacements @ INR 5/- per piece. Thank goodness!! The cowl looks sexy on the bike and completes the sporty look!!

              Ha Ha, true bro :P I had the same problem with my current seat... That little bugger tends to disappear at times. So I've actually made it a habit to recheck that every time I set it back.

                      I'm planning to replace my stock tires on the ninja. Have done slightly over 11k kms and feel its enough to deserve a fresh pair. I gather from the thread that PSDs are the most trusted.

                      Can someone pass on the number of a reliable dealer in Bangalore, and also, how much would one have to shell out? Apologies if this has been answered previously in the thread, but I spent the last hour browsing through the pages with no luck.

                      Lastly, what specs should one go for? I read on this thread that some of you have gone for broader tyres than the stock. Does that add to the performance in any way? I'd typically stick to the stock specs, but I'm willing to follow the collective wisdom of people on this thread.

                        Used 140 PSD on the rear instead of stock size of 130. No issues faced on performance. Loved the grip...

                          Dear Vishal,

                          In Blore, you can get in touch with Cherry Agencies (Mr. Arun: 99725-77110) or Millivision Marketing (Mr. Nagaraj: 9008-790-567; 080-2656-3863; 080-4169-2863) for Pirelli Sport Demon tires.

                          I bought the 110/70/17 last month (for the front; stock size) and it cost me around 4k.

                          Yes, prices are through the roof now, all because of the stupid ISI rule. I paid 3.8k last yr for the 140 profile tire for the rear wheel and i understand it now costs over 5k and have heard dealers quote 6.5k too. There are no 140 sizes left as per my visit to Millivision last month. He had only 3-4 pieces of the 130 left so call him asap and ask him to keep one set for you.

                          There is functionally no difference between the 130 stock size and the 140 size tire... only difference is that since it is 140/70/17 (compared to 130/70/17) the bike will be slightly taller and will take a wee bit more effort to use the extra 10mm width while cornering hard on the track. I experienced this during my laps at Kari speedway in Coimbatore where the guys with 130 profile tires were scraping pegs easily while i had to put in considerably more effort to scrape the footpegs and use that last bit of tire. Otherwise, the PSD are brilliant in dry tarmac and grip levels are excellent. Since the PSDs are a LOT softer than IRCs please take care while riding on wet roads as grip levels can be an issue in the monsoons especially while cornering.

                          Last i heard was that BS certification has been applied for and these tires are awaiting clearance from Chennai and Mumbai port authorities. Lets see how it goes and hope for the best.

                          P.S. Do note that the life of the PSDs are way lower than the stock IRCs. I changed my rear tire to PSD at 17000 kms and now at 25000 kms the center part has flattened (known as squared off) and the tire is not as it was before... so leaning into a turn feels a bit tricky since it banks hard after the tire contact patch on the road shifts from the "flat" part on the center of the tire to the rounder part on the sides of the tire.

                          • Got the 4th service completed over the weekend. The odo reads 24,800 odd kms in exactly 2.5 yrs.

                            Not been riding much in the last few months as weekends are either busy with personal commitments or i'm finding it tough to wake up early which is otherwise a daily routine to catch my office bus very early in the AM.

                            There was a bit of squeak that was bogging me for a few weeks so got that checked out. Turned out that the timing chain tensioner needed adjustment. Got the adjustment done along with the vacuum synchronization. Vacuum sync is done to maintain uniformity in the fuel being sprayed by the injectors and also ensures both cylinders are firing correctly. The readings were slightly off and in no way compromising performance of the bike.

                            After the vacuum sync, i was requested to replace the roll over sensor damper (more on this here (A green Ninja 250R it definitely is!)) as there were complaints from other owners about their bikes engine shutting off at a particular RPM. To replace this unit, the fuel tank is removed and the damper is replaced. Took around 10 mins for the replacement since the fairings and tank were already off the bike for the 4th service activities.

                            In addition to the above, engine oil was replaced with Motul 7100 (fully synth, 4T, single ester, 20W50), rear brake pads were replaced, both front and rear brakes cleaned and serviced, battery checked and found healthy, brakes bled and fluid topped up with DOT4 brake fluid (Motul), clutch cable lubricated, chain adjusted and spark plugs cleaned and checked if replacement was required.

                            The spark plugs were good so they were not replaced. Air filter was cleaned and plonked back in. Coolant was within the required level so no top-up was needed. I however used the 3M engine flush (Rs. 130/-) which was recommended for smoother engine performance and to remove any unwanted deposits. The 50ml solution was poured into the engine and the engine was set to idle for 20 mins with occasional revvs to ensure proper circulation. After this the oil was drained out and replaced with a fresh oil filter and oil.

                            The chain and sprockets are due for replacement. I almost bought the DID chain and JT sprockets (listed in my previous post) but the $$ rate put me off. Will buy the Rolon equivalent for some 8k odd bucks next month. It has been tested extensively and has good feedback. I will be replacing the chain and sprocket in a couple of months (or when the odo reads 26k kms).

                            Total service cost me Rs. 4200/- excluding cost of oil (2 liters of oil cost me Rs. 1400/-) inclusive of Rs. 2000/- for labor.

                            Edit - I would recommend fellow owners to get their clutch cables cleaned and lubed as often as possible. A cleaning agent from a pressurized can was sprayed into the cable till all the gunk (i was horrified to see so much black muck) flowed out from inside the cable. I dont remember the spray but it was a clean+lube.

                                Thanks a ton Aditya, your posts are always super helpful. Given you changed your stock post 17k, I'm thinking i'll keep my stock for one last long ride. Riding down to goa in december, so I guess the PSDs will have to wait till 2013. Slightly taller bike is reason enough for me to go with the 140...always have my heart in mouth going over the nasty speed breakers.
