I did honk 6-7 times but he was unperturbed and made the move. My left fairing and the indicator kissed the car (@ arnd 25km/hr) and as the bike became imbalanced i hit the divider where my right leg and the fairing grazed through the divider causing scratches on the fairing and my leg which has been badly bruised and my ankle which has swollen now. Leg has been plastered from past week and i am not able to work/ride.

Some people need proper riding/driving etiquette. The accident has been recorded in Hero HD and i have kept the footage for lodging a complaint who fled the spot without stopping. I couldnt lift the motorcycle and localites helped me in getting the bike up.

Sorry to hear your troubles. Get well soon!!

Ugh man,... Hope you get well soon mate! Cagers are really out to get us!

My bike was run over by a Nano and its been in the shop for a month now and I've just been told that I need to pay up 50K on monday to bring it home.

Here's how it happened... (Warning : Absurd, large post up ahead )

It was around 7 pm and I left my bike parked waaaaaaay over in a smaaaaaaaaaall corner of my rather large parking garage... ( you can literally park eight cars in it ) and after cleaning the bike a bit, I hit the showers so that I could proceed getting some pending office work done especially since I had quit my job and was nearing the end of my notice period. While in the shower, I heard the sound of my cousin's Nano being backed into the garage. As soon as I heard the car, a small red flag went up in my brain, but I chose to ignore it since the whole idea of a car like the "Nano" of all things, running over bike parked in the corner of a large garage was rather hilarious... lol

      ***CRASH***

I just froze... It was kind of like how you see in those war movies... that buzzing numbness followed by a faint tone in the ears recovering from a shock wave post explosion.

After that, I pretty much went supersonic in the shower, jumped out half naked, running into my garage, only to find the bike on its stand as if nothing has happened at all. Everyone was just silently standing around it. I grabbed a flash light and went to inspect the damages one by one. I could only see all the cosmetic damages done to the bike so I took it for a test ride and to my disappointment found out that the damage done was way beyond just cosmetic.

      •Broken right rear view mirror
      •Broken right Indicator
      •Bent handle bar
      •Bent fork
      •Bent pipe
      •Rear seat leather damaged
      •Brake Lever scratched
      •Handler bar end scratched
      •Right side engine cover scratched
      •Silencer scratched
      •Fairing scratched on both sides
      •Windshield scratched
      •Rear tail piece scratched

According to my family, who btw were the prime witnesses of said crime, testified that my cousin not only knocked down my bike, but he actually ran over it, dragging it underneath the car, only to come out later, confused and amazed at his own unique driving ability. @^$&@# . Naturally, he agreed to pay for the damages and so we took the bike in for repair. The guys at the probiking center did a test drive and came to rather unexpected conclusion that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the bike other than cosmetic damages!

      Me : What?!?

PBK service man : There is nothing wrong with it, its perfectly fine

Me : Are you saying that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the steering?

Him : Oh, Its just a little bend that’s all

Me : ... ( I wanted to whack the living daylights out of him with the helmet rack nearby but... wooooooosaaa... )

Hold on... Are you in any manner suggesting that I should just continue riding my bike (which btw is supposed to be a precision instrument) with a bent steering?

Him : Its not that big a deal...

That was the last straw, I proceeded to give him a piece of my mind... (and it wasn't the best piece of my mind either, it was the really crappy part of your mind that you turn to when you've been having too many bad days as of late). Soon enough, the service manager walked in an acknowledged that I was right and promised me that he would fix my bike asap. So I proceeded to calm myself down and I left the service center quite satisfied.

A couple of days later, I get a phone call saying my bike has been fixed and all I had to pay was just 10k to collect it. I was surprised at the amount since I was expecting something around 20k. So I call up my cousin and asked him to bring the dough!

Once I got there, I requested to see the bike before any money changed hands. But as fate would have it, things just went completely downhill from there. My front wheel was bent a tad left with a straight steering. So I was forced to spend even more time explaining to them that the steering is still messed up, to which they maintained their initial story stating that there is nothing wrong with it. I asked them to check it again and after half an hour of tests, they finally report back to me saying that the steering was indeed bent.

      Me : No s*** Einstein!!

So there we were, back to square one,... again! The Service manager apologized for the inconvenience caused and says to me that the entire front fork has to be replaced.

Me : So how much is this gonna set me back?

      SM : 38k...

Me : Oh For the entire service??

SM : No.. Just the forks...

      Me : Oh..

And so, after all the hoopla with the Insurance, the under-qualified technicians and a month of waiting later, I was slapped with a 50k repair bill, which btw I’ve asked my cousin to cough up (You ain't getting away that easy!). I’ve had to spend an entire month without my baby... pay an increased premium from now on, not to mention all the scratches on my bike that I can’t get rid of! This really has been quite a s****y deal.

Well on the plus side, it could have been a lot worse had he brought in his Innova instead of the Nano, so I guess there's that at least.

your cousin might have been in really bad mood after paying, he paid almost half of his Nano cost, on a bike repair. that's bad.
make sure from next time for insurence go for zero Debt which can allow you to claim 100% damage on everything

Ha ha, yea man :P ... kinda like duck hunting season for me actually... only in this case I'm the duck :|

I avoided several life threatening close calls only to have my bike mowed down in the corner of my own garage... kinda lame first major accident lol XD

And yes the insurance will be paying back 100%, at least that's what I've been told.

As a matter of fact I did ask them if any such option existed, but they said they don't have em. Must be cause I was a bit vague on the exact term for it. But thanks for the advice mate, will certainly check it out again.

As for my cousin he'll get the money back from the insurance...

The exact term is zero depreciation insurance. Not zero debt.

                thanks for correcting.

well as for GT/GTR by default its the insurance provided, i even know on guy claimed insurance for stickers on the Tank of the bike which costed 5k and insurance comp generous enough to clear the claim.

the fact is Ninja spares are costly is not true , even my GT250R spares costs beats ninja in many departments [like ..fuel tank=72k,tiers=20k..etc..etc..]

Well then good thing I didn't go for the GT. Considering the bulky shape of the GT, a similar accident would have cost me double what it did for the ninja :Obtw I inquired about the Zero dep plan and they don't have it. I'm actually considering changing my Insurer next year. National Insurance service is pretty crappy and the people in their office are so high of themselves that its just so difficult to get anything done on time there. I waited over 4 months just to receive my Insurance papers from them and in the end I had to go to their office and search for my papers myself.

                      what exactly fual meter ??
if you are referring to fuel gauge [a meter or digital console bar which shows how much fuel/petrol] then, yes you can.
There are some aftermarket digital speedo kits are available which might costs you as much as 25k-30k INR , which can convert entire analog meter to full digital speedo.
pplz check on google you will find lot of options and you can order them on ebay

                      • Hey guys,

Is there any way to calculate the premium payable next year for my bike? I had to claim about 44 k for repair.

It would approximately be same as what you paid this year. Most of the private insurance firms have online setups where you can calculate the premium.

I gave my bike for its 3rd service a couple of weeks back.Service station:Khivraj motors,Indiranagar.Having received the bike I noticed that the headlight lowbeam light was not working.I service manager took full responsibility and assured me that the bulb would be replaced free of cost.It has been two weeks now and after repeatedly calling them and hearing callous and irresponsible replies,I personally went there since I was planning on a long ride this weekend.
After a long wait,I was abruptly told that the Ninja 250R stock bulbs have stopped coming in and I was supposed to make do with the P220 bulb(cost ~Rs300,as against the stock N250 one which costs 900).I shot a mail to customer care, but still havent got a reply from them
Since the svc people have conveniently washed their hands off the matter,I need advice on further course of action.

Well as far as my experience goes, its easier to make pigs fly than get these service centers to make good on their promises. When ever I call them to ask something important sometimes they just cut me off quite abruptly or just leave me hanging. I would recommend trying out the 220's bulbs, from what i've heard they work quite well. But if you really want to get it done the ol' fashion way, you could shoot a mail to Bajaj explaining the matter. I've read comments stating that they have got good responses from the company rather than from the service centers.
