    1. The engine is a high revving machine so as long as your engine oil is of good quality and the engine does not get overheated (lack of coolant in the reservoir) you can redline the bike all day long in every gear.

    2. Any aftermarket filter is OK. K&N is the most popular choice, don't ask me why. But expect only a noticeable difference in low and mid range power... not a significant bump in power if you're expecting it.

    3. No difference in intake noise with addition of an aftermarket air filter... thank goodness. I would hate it if the bike sounded like a dio or activa, croaking like a frog everytime the throttle was opened

    4. Depends on whether you're riding on power mode or econo mode

    5. If you want to go with Mineral - Motul 3100 Gold ; Semi synth - 5100 Motul 15W50 ; Motul Fully synthetic - 7100 20W50 Single Ester or 300V Racing Line Double Ester.

    6. Slip-on is for sound only.. power bump is negligible. Full system is the best option as you get a significant power increase but best to go with full system, aftermarket air filter and a standalone ECU like PC III. With the power commander you will be able to tune the power curve for optimum performance.
@thanks so much for.your.input bro. .. I shal puton a kn very soon. .any reliable sources to buy.from in kerala??

That he is mate,... but I've met a lot of good guys on 220s with whom I'd eventually become friends with; mostly they are just curious about my bike. But this guy is the only one I've encountered that just keeps on bugging me every time he sees me.

Ha ha,... Well he "IS" a very skilled rider IMO, he was able to give me an extremely through assessment of my riding skills whilst crashing into me.

Its been quite a while now since I posed anything here, more or less due to the fact that my work life takes a huge bite out of my daytime or due to the lack of any valuable pointers that I have to contribute to my fellow riders. However, an incident that occurred to me today morning have certainly given me something to yap about, so I thought I'd share it with you guys as well lol.

Today, I managed to save some time in the morning as it was rather unusual for me to be waking up anywhere near 8 am since I usually stay up till 3 or 4. I had half an hour to spare which btw was also unusual. So for the obvious reasons, obvious to obvious bikers, I made the obvious decision to take a long way to the office and spend some time with my baby.... So obvious!

As I was on my way more or less enjoying the morning polluted air, I came up behind a police car which while pulling up to an intersection came to a sudden halt. I followed suit and stopped right behind it easily since I was only doing about 40-50 kmph. Suddenly I felt a sudden push from behind and heard warping plastic parts. I switched to neutral and turned around to find this a****** (sorry) who had been on my tail trying to race me ever since I got my bike the first time. He'd never let me be, its almost as if i was put on this earth to race and lose to him or something. I had ( a long time back ) beaten this dude on my bike as he was trying to race me just because i overtook him unknowingly one night. He's had this grudge ever since. So ever since then, when ever this dude came to race me I'd just give way and let him overtake me since its obvious he was gonna crash into something eventually, little did I know it was going to be me who he crashed into...

          And it gets better...

In response to my inquiry as to why he rammed into me in a slow moving traffic he asks me why I'm riding without paying attention to my rear view mirrors?. That really infuriated me,... I just wanted to stick a knife through this ******'s head. Not only did he ram into a stationary vehicle but is asking me why I'm not paying attention to his stupidity behind me. The conversations heightens and he starts insulting my mother and he started yelling out profanities to which i replied promptly while the traffic behind us was stuck. So I moved my bike to the side to check for damages and this guy just rode off. Luckily for me nothing happened to my bike except for a couple of scratches on the exhaust, which is due for an upgrade anyway so I just left it and rode to the next intersection. This dude comes up to the far side of the intersection avoiding the traffic cams as he was not wearing a helmet ( he never does ) and calls me out to the side in a threatening way. I respond and directs him to the traffic cop and I pull over near the cop who just walks away to the other side (-_-). He comes over after seeing the cop go away and pulls up away from the intersection. So after getting near him and he starts asking money for his damaged scooter. I told him get lost, if he was expecting me to give him a single penny for an accident that HE caused then he was demented and if he was so concerned about his vehicle, he should have been more responsible on the road. He started arguing how his scooter doesn't have good brakes like my bike and I shouldn't expect him to stop on time. I told him to to get a better bike and avoid riding like a maniac if his brakes are not so good. His arguments were very annoying to say the least and the entire drama went on for some time and eventually I asked him what his deal was?. Why every time he saw me, he always felt the need to race me, to which he responds, "You don't have riding skills but I do so I race... " I was literally mind******. His level of idiocy was so stupefying that I decided that it was not worth wasting my time on him anymore, hence I told him to get a life and I got on my bike and rode away.

Food for thought : He could have avoided all this drama by just saying sorry and we could have probably parted ways without any incidents.
Almost the same thing happened to me on my R15 v2 with a scotter walle bhaiya ji. Damm i wanted to kill the guy. But its better to cal down like u did. Nicely handled

the guy's obviously jealous. :-) i think a decent, soft-mannered guy will find it difficult to argue or reason with a prick like that. if it happens again you will need to talk tough (as in being firm & to the point, not argue or fight). just my 2 cents. ;-)

i am posting here after a gap of several months. the bike has clocked 28800 Kms and the chain is due for replacement. Checked up today with KTM- Nerul and was verbally quoted approx Rs. 13000/- for the stock chain sprocket combo (i guess it includes labour charges as well). They are happy to fit an aftermarket chain like Rolon one if i bring it to them. Trouble is, don't know where to go in Navi Mumbai to get one.
Can Aditya or Vishwas post some pics of the chain and its packaging to help identify if it is the correct product. Will check up with Babloo motors in Vashi if they have it. A product code would also be helpful.

                  Thanks

It is important to ensure that whatever is the RPM limit mentioned in the run-in procedure, one should never ride at a constant RPM. Vary the RPM's as much as possible. Exceeding the RPM limit once in a way will not harm the engine. Best place to run-in a new bike is in the city. The stop and go conditions will ensure that your engine, brakes, tires and gearbox break in well.

                        Hey Bro,

I used this method to break in my Ninja.

Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power

3 years on, dont have any problem with the bike, matter of fact has a smoother ride than the others ninja's i have test rode ( conventional method) - of course it also depends on how they are ridden everday.

Though you are late to try this method, the logic holds good. You will still have to break in the rest of the bike ( gearbox, tyers etc) slowly.

Your concern about the engine alone is nothing to be worried about.

But as someone else said in the earlier post, try not to keep it in a constant RPM does more damage than good.

                        • Thanks Lone_ranger, Aditya,
Since i have done the 700 kms in the city only so that varied the RPM in the rev range. I was more worried about crossing the 4k limit.

                            • Sunday Morning Ride

No better way to start a Sunday, than to go on a long ride with fellow bikers.
Have been planning this trip for quite some time now, but never materialised, finally managed to do it. Started to Pondichery at around seven, with three other bikes, out of which one had to return after Mahabalipuram. We continued our ride through ECR, clocking a constant speed of around 110 there about. Met some riders who were returning after an early morning ride i guess in their Busa's,Fz'z,cb1000 etc
Found it difficult at some points because of the hard seats on the ninja, hence lots of butt breaks, reached in about 1.45 hours neverthless.
Met an old friend in Pondy and spent some time over lunch and started back by 3.30.
Opted for GST road while coming back and it was absolute bliss till Guduvanchery where traffic starts, and was totally tired since it was the first long ride. It was as if the seats were burning and the climate dint help us,it was HOT! Got back by 6 as a lot of time was lost in shooting pics.
Attaching some pics. Overall one memorable ride, lots of fun! It would be an understatement to say that Ninja performed well, he was impeccable, not even a single scary moment absolute performance and a mileage of round 27,but that can be forgotten when he provides the ultimate fun!
