Buddy, I also recently purchased a used Ninja from Bhubaneshwar(Orissa), and got it to Lucknow (U.P)Originally posted by narang_rulz View PostHi All,
I purchased my Kawasaki Ninja 250r - A used one from Hyderabad. Made the payment and the bike is with me now.
I have received everything from the seller i.e. the bike, the bike documents, hyderabad RTO NOC, Police NOC, original receipts and other papers
I stay in Mumbai and have inititated the process of transfer.
Now I spoke to an RTO agent the other day and he says that I have to pay Octroi of 4.5% and another 7% of RTO tax apart from Octroi and another Rs.5000 for all other expenses.
The estimated expense for transfer is Rs.35,000.
I need some advise as to whether this is correct or he is pulling a fast one on me.
I managed to get the bike transferred in my name at a bhubaneshwar address itself, no bribes to the RTO agents, I just had an acquaintance in Bhubaneshwar & mentioned his address as my local address in there(didnt even submit any address proof
). I have got the RC & have in mind if police stops me I will say i am here in Lucknow for a month only, since i have the complete papers, they wont have a valid reason to bother me......
. Though this is not ideal, since i will be using the bike in Lucknow mostly.
For Mumbai, things can be different with police & RTO, hence decide wisely if this method can work for you.
Octroi & Road tax are ok, but the 5000 is too much......at max u can pay him 2000, not more.Every time i am able to change my bike's engine oil, i feel like passing another semester amongst thousands, of being a proficient rider.

Its indeed worth it! Ninja is class apart, from performance to looks, and then its exclusive too. Just bear in mind, its easy to buy it than to maintain, parts are extremely costly for Ninja.Originally posted by Asellus Borealis View PostHi Guys,
I'm planning on buying the Ninja 250R. However, I'm a bit doubtful about my decision. The reason is, I already have an R15 v2.0, which is just nearing the 3 month old mark, and I'm very very happy with its performance and mileage figures. I do not intend to sell it, even if I make my mind to purchase the Ninja. But the 250R has been my dream bike for years.
My question is, will the upgrade to the 250R be really worth it?
However, parts are only an ache if you manage to crash it or ride extremely insanely, without proper maintenance.
+1Originally posted by isodope View PostI've got the old R15, and there is a marked difference in performance in both motorcycles. So Yes, the upgrade is worth it.
1.6, in my opinion, if the bike has never been crashed, and maintained considerably well. (2nd owner thing is a bit concerning)Originally posted by Ananth View PostWhat should be the selling price of a (Black) 2010 June Ninja 250R - II Owner - 31xxx Kilometers ?
thats a very mature reply.. +1Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostIt really is worth it BUT if your R15 is just 3 months old, why not enjoy it for a year and then take a call? You may find some new / better options by that time.

I carry my own oil can and they change it without any charges. So those charges are not reflected in bill. Air / Oil filter was not changed in this service.Originally posted by nagoo View Postthanks for the quick replay .. and i thought they change oil/air filter and some extras also .Never argue with an idiot. Normally chain and sprockets are changed at the same time to get better fit. However, it is not mandatory if you have cash crunch.Originally posted by patel.tarun4328 View PostThanx vishwas sir bit i saw some sprockets at the performanceracingstore.net. i wanted to know whether they are good to use on the ninja and apart from the sprockets what else do i need? Do you have any idea about the cost of the OEM chain? and sprockets too?if it costs nearly the same when i am shipping it from abroad then there's no reason in importing it. i was told by the PBK guys that it costs nearly 17k for the kit!!Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostNormally chain and sprockets are changed at the same time to get better fit. TVM pbk guy told that now the chain and sprockets cost 10k and they have changed it in some bikes at that cost. Dont know whether he is right or wrong.Originally posted by patel.tarun4328 View PostDo you have any idea about the cost of the OEM chain? and sprockets too?if it costs nearly the same when i am shipping it from abroad then there's no reason in importing it. i was told by the PBK guys that it costs nearly 17k for the kit!!
What is your odo reading? Mine is around 18k kms and the chain and sprockets are still looks like new, chain adjuster is around the halfway.
I think importing is not a good idea because of current condition of the Indian Rupee.
