    so since 12:30 p.m. i'm a proud owner of my GREEN kwacker

    i know a lot has been said about how to drive and all that -
    but still if anyone can give me do's and don't during the run in period for both throttle handling, gear shifts, and other issues it would be great.

    the only spoiler is it's raining daily these days in b'lore so i'm sure my ride will be muddy very soon and will require lot of cleaning.
    Very nice! Good to see one more 250R owner on xbhp! You will enjoy the machine, trust me. There are a lot of ownership experiences on this thread which you can read and learn from, at least for the break-in stage.

    Talking of rains, today was the first time I rode my Ninja in the rain. Not intentionally though - I was supposed to ride my RE today but it had a rear flat tyre so I had to reluctantly pull the covers from the Ninja, knowing that it might rain in the evening. I left my office when it was raining full on - since that is the only time when traffic is sparse. But far from being drenched, I escaped the 20 minute ride with just damp clothes - the legs were tucked in so they escaped the water except on the thigh part. My helmet and jacket was waterproof, so they took care of the rain.

    Poured clean water over the muddy parts on the bike as soon as I got home, so it washed away all the dirt. Then rode the bike around apartment and did a 15 sec wheel spin (on the smooth concrete floor) too after that to shake off the excess water from the rear area!

    I asked PBK for the the fuel to be used for Ninja. They informed me sada HP which is 92 Octane, should be fine. Looks like I need do some checking @HP fuel station.

    By the way is anyone using sada petrol for Ninja? Any recommendations?
    I use Shell super/normal. That is 91 octane.

      Hey Rahul, do let us know how she handles in the wet? Do the IRC's grip well in wet conditions?

      P.S. Sorry for going OT.... I was so eager to listen to the sound of the ninja that I called Killer Instinct and met up with him on saturday.

      Boy even with a stock can, she sounds so powerful and meaty at idle. I dont have much experience being a pillion rider so was holding on tightly while KI took me for a short spin. The speed wasnt much but given my negigible experience in being a pillion i was urging KI to not WOT the ninja. Boy, that was a saturday well spent.... and i havent been able to sleep much after that.

      Thanks a ton again Asim.

      • Got stuck in the rain today...Have to say, the bike handled much better than I expected ... I wasn't driving too fast but at abt 80-90 Kmph it behaved pretty well...even while braking the bike was pretty stable.

        The only scare was a bit of smoke from under the front faring .... The temperature reading was pretty low so I figured it was just some water droplets sneaking in... no issues with the performance etc

        Now a question, do I need to lubricate the chain at a more frequent interval during the rainy season?

          Man, 80-90 is dicey on slushy Indian roads. I am a pussycat that way and rarely cross 50-60 in rains.

          The steam is nothing but water droplets getting on your radiator grill/exhaust pipes beneath it and getting sizzled. And yes, rain requires frequent lubrication than dry days.

            • many thanks to Wolfpack, KillerNinja and Bluevolt for your wishes and tips;
              guys this bike is making me have all kind of emotions
              - taking half day off,
              - people at work missing the meeting because they wanted to see and test ninja first (manager was really pissed off as no one informed him about delay )
              - getting it dirty on the first day of purchase ; ( would follow bluevolt advice and put some water right now)

              Bluevolt you have become a reference Manual for Ninja now - Prasana while delivering the bike told me how you could take the bike for long ride even to CALCUTTA

              i had kept my 3 year old STUDD's ninja helmet as spare all packed up for over an year now, never thought it will get ever used again till today when it did while RIDING KWACKER with NINJA written on my HELMET (everything gets bought for a reason )

              NEED TO BUY THE RIDING GEAR; COVER;

              guys bajaj doesn't have cover; i read sometime back RE's will Work, i inquired enfield guys its 850 bucks; what should be a good price at JC ROAD and which model of RE will it work with or all RE's have similar cover.

              Have you guys named your bike, i'm planning to name mine; ( What's say let's have a naming ceremony and we register the names between this forum folks ) and everyone gets a new identity for their beauties... (i've gone nuts and you have all reason to laugh at me)

                If theres one thing I would change on the Ninja 250R it would be the Road Winner IRCs. No really, they are pure touring tyres. I want to dump them so bad

                  Meaning , that they wont be so good for the track. But you can always keep a spare to change whenever you're heading to the track. What about normal road usage, how do they perform?

                      To be honest my opinion is a little biased because I have experienced what Pirellis on the Ninja 250R can be. They stick like velcro to the road. Unfortunately I rode the Road Winner IRCs on the track all the time
                      The IRCs are fine and heat up really nice on the track but then at chennai anything heats up really fast so no worries on that front.
                      I am sure someone can vouch for the IRCs here. They arent bad..but they really tend to slip here and there all the time. Add to that the utterly brutal rear brake on the bike and you have a sliding rear all the time.
                      To me, softer and better tyres is a part of my safety gear hence I am harping on it but for everyday use I find them just fine. Dump them when you wear them out. Else you are burning money.

                          • @tenhut - your reply was what i was expecting when i wrote those lines...

                            anyways drove 90 kms today -
                            best part was tested ninja with a pillion from innovative film city(bidadi) - jivan bhima nagar ( was dropping a friend ) .. amazing control in peak hour traffic - at slow speed i didn't feel the difference that i had a person riding with me; handling is precise and centered.
                            started at 5:15 reached at 7:30 ..
                            the only bad thing was my friends bums were hurting a lot after the long ride; The pillion seat can't be used for long rides; the rider seat is not good to the bums either;
                            i felt totally drenched after those 2 hours, might me more because of 4k limit.

                            one more thing, my friend was almost at the same level as the window passengers in the BMTC Bus... it was crazy to watch him so high looking odd in the traffic; once he even stood up to tell me how big is the JAM and we took a diversion and changed our route ...

                            • Its here ....

                              hey everybody ....got my dream machine on 13th , wow like , its a dream come true .....no seriously , it was almost 10 years back when i was doin my Mbbs course n i happened to go visit a show room in mumbai which had these neat superbikes n i was SMITTEN...as they say LOVE @ FIRST SIGHT ....well i particularly liked this red honda dunno wot cc maybe 4oo and the sound it made was like pure bliss...so i approach this rather old fella who is the owner n i tell him im gonna ask my dad to buy the red honda for me (rs 2.5 lak way back in 98/99 ) n u know what he said ...BAAP NAI LEKE DEGA ......the way he said it was like really rough ...but soon enough i happened to talk to my dad about it n guess what , my dad hit the roof when he learnt about the price ! Lol ......

                              anywez i got the delievery from shirode in poona n boy was i nervous cause u know what i have never ridden or have the experience of riding a bike nor of wearing a helmet ( mind u im not slow to learn cause i started driving when i was in class 6 on proper roads in heavy traffic ) n here i was in full gear on a 250 cc beast of a machine and was sweating like a pig partly out of anxiety /fear of the unknown/excitement/sense of achievement n guess what bfore i knew it i was on the Nh4 highway n rode it non stop for like more than 250 km to my place. i must have exceeded the 4 k rpm limit atleast 25 to 30 times but never going above 65 km/hr well a coupla times i did do 70 km/hr hehe....couldnt resist . Well now i got a sore wrist / butt / shoulders cause i had a freind who was the pillion with a heavy bag n he was practically leaning on me .......no pain no gain huh ....
                              "It's impossible." said pride. "It's risky." said experience. "It's
                              pointless." said reason. "Give it a try." whispered the heart ....
