    I do not think the heating is a issue it might be due to the bumper to bumper traffic, the bike needs to go at certain speed for it to cool.

    I dont think cover is a good idea i remember a r15 caught on fire due to some cloth in between the r15 fairing which made yamaha pust some sort of mesh.

      make sure that the cover does not touch the exhaust muffler, its super hot when parked even and takes time to cool down.

      The bike does have a tendency to run in the hotter zone, but then you have to be careful about the timings and kind of traffic you are going to ride it in.

      I have ridden it in stop go traffic as well, and the best option i found to conserve the engine was to switch off whenever i could give some cooling time to the engine.

        yours being a new vehicle and i think you have not completed the first break in period. heating would be little more than the after the break in one. and temperature hovering around 41 and 42 in the city you can expect the bike to hot up. try riding the bike in the evening in bumper to bumper traffic. you will see the difference. other thing its being a sport bike there tend to stay cooler at high speeds than slower speeds (anyways i am not going to recommend you go in higher speeds in city limits as it may pose danger to yourself and others too. for every 500kms i go into pbk service center i see atleast one or two bikes getting repaired. so just ride in safe speed limit)

          Bala did u mean to say serviced or repaired? Are these bikes conking off unexpectedly, owners crashed them or are they in for regular service?

          @ Vibhor - congrats.

          Update on my bike - just got a call from Janaki and my bike has been dispatched from Pune. Hope to get delivery next week. I have asked for delivery on next Thursday so I can take a leave on Friday and ride away for 3 whole days. No more sleep now.

            Absolutely right, it saves bike from getting over heat and also saves some fuel with our contribution towards saving mother earth.

            I do the same, even in the stop go traffic of Delhi whenever you see the red light switch the engine off and once you see the red light is left with around 10 seconds switch it on, as it is not advisable to suddenly pull the bike as soon as you start it, so give some time to the bike to get the oil all over again, which by anymeans stay in the head for sometime being it hot. But why not to give our beast some time to breath and let the blood flow better.

                Can anyone give me some idea on how do the people manage to wear riding gear (jacket in particular) in the great weather conditions that we are subjected to these days?

                Riding gear is an absolute essential but I kind of get scared of the thought of putting on one in current weather conditions.

                  crashed bikes but not major ones!!

                  previously saw two bikes both being crashed and bill total was 90k each (they both escaped with minor injuries and payingless amt. payed10k as they claimed the insurance) one was just done 150kms!! on odo

                    Go for the Mesh Jackets, they are considerably managable but yes they are warm too...

                          I dont go on rides at all.
                          If its city rides I dont wear anything else but my helmet and gloves and am super, super slow everywhere.
                          Wearing full protection on the ninja in summer interferes with my concentration levels and puts me at a greater risk of an accident. If I am gonna ride at 40 to 50 kmph I know I have time to respond instead of reacting to someone suddenly pulling up in front of me

                          when i ride bullet before my bullet was solid condition but i once race with a Ceilo car and my engine size. mechancic say bullet is good bike but no racing. it is good for three people and very powerful.
                          one day when i become rich i but ducati and then I race with cars. not now.

                              Engine braking should not result in wheel locks. You WILL wear out engine parts if you keep doing it so hard.
                              Engine braking should only play the part of assisting your lever braking. It should not be at par or more than the lever braking. (it should not be anywhere close to lever braking tbh)
                              Thanks Tenhut, I am now sure that I was not Engine Braking correctly. As am new to Engine braking, some more pointers like at what RPMs and how would be much appreciated.

                              The waits are painful... 1st the delivery then the Breakin Period... but once all that is over you will feel sheer bliss when you are revving the bike at 8k+

                              I use a non Mesh Jacket (Cramster Raptor) here in Bangalore. While Riding its not a problem, but at Red Lights it is a pain.

                              Just around the time Ninja was launched in India, I had my head stuck under a Civic (Rear wheel of my Pulsar had locked ).

                              Hence a few drops are sweat are totally worth more that a few bottles of blood.

                              Ride Safe.
