650 dosen't have clip ons, it has a single seat and not split seat and it has grabrails on the back.

It dosen't ride very good and the sound is a cross between 250r and a bullet (not joking)

    - Another hilarious episode - yesterday when I had stopped on a signal, one guy on a FZ asked me whether this was a hayabusa.

I'll agree.. even Kawasaki on its International sites categorizes the Ninja 250R as a Sports model. Putting the Ninja ZX-6R, 10R and the ZX-14 in the Super Sport category.

But yes, the Ninja 250R does give you the feeling of an entry level Super Sports bike.. be it in the styling, the rev happy engine or the stable handling.

            • almost touched 150

              hi all..
today i opened the throttle.. not full though, yet to cross 10.5K. I was driving on the nice road. started from electronic city flyover from the silk board, and took nice road at el city. it was about 180 kms journey. I have been increasing the throttle gradually. so i can say still not fully completed the break in period.
Just got a feeling that i touched 150KMPH mark and the rpm was somewhere around 10.5K. it was nice feeling on the "Nice road". But i do need to get a decent helmet. the current one is very annoying. lot of noise at speeds above 80.
in my last post i said about a sound ( something a like a wire hitting a metal) coming from front side of the bike. i guess it is something due to the speedo cable as has been posted earlier. today i noticed it at lower speeds, but at higher speed due to the noise inside helmet was not able to figure out. But i got a feeling it might be due to speedo cable only. i guess it was getting more vigorous at higher speeds and was not as distinct as it was at lower speed. will meet Prasanna tomorrow and get the cable greased. does anybd have any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Its fun to drive on the toll roads. very few vehicles and no lazy person crossing the road looking the opposite side lost in his dreams! I guess with a proper helmet the joy will increase manifold. so the search starts.

I had that same sound and still having it. Earlier it was only when I was riding on bumpy roads. But now at high speeds. It is due to the speedo cable. I informed the same at the 1st service, but they figured out something else - front disk break. Also spent half an hour to caliber the front brake. But the sound it still there....!!!!!

depends on your kind of riding. Mine had to be changed at 9k kms.
Pirellis are good. PerformanceRacingStore in Mumbai can get you them. Google or call for the price.

Friends - Its been raining for last few days in Pune. The bike skids a lot . Are the std (company fiited) tyres good for rainy season? Or do we have to change it (front & rear). If yes, please suggest some brands.

After IRCs I got another pair of........
                          IRCs
I was at the track when I changed tyres and couldnt source any Pirellis or Michelins there. Had to go with whatever PBK had. i.e. IRCs

Size ? Well I will never change the tyre size EVER. So stock size.
IRCs will cost you approx 11k for a pair. ( Hate Bajaj much ?)
Dont know what pirellis cost :s

Pirelli website suggests the Sport Demon in the below sizes for the Ninja 250.

                            Front : 110/70 - 17 M/C 54H TL SPORT DEMON Front - 2 BAR

                            Rear : 130/70 - 17 M/C 62H TL SPORT DEMON - 2.25 BAR

They cost around 11k for a set of 2 tires (Front+Rear).

AUD 125 for the front and AUD 145 for the rear.

Reviews suggest that they last as less as 4000 miles and as long as 7000 miles but reviews also point that the grip levels are excellent in dry and wet conditions.

Bloody expensive i must say. I'm sure there are cheaper options that could provide the same grip levels and last longer. Will search and post my findings for the benefit of the ninja owners.

Cheaper sure but not the same grip levels. (a tyre with same/more grip cannot last longer. Grip and longevity are inversely related)
There is a principle I follow in motorcycling world.
Especially when it comes to Tyres, Leather Suit, Helmet etc. Basically all those things which matter to my safety.
The principle is : What you pay is what you get !
I am convinced that an investment in tyres is a considerable step towards safety.
