I bought my machine on 01/04/2010 and have clocked 333 kms so far. Is the first service based on time period ( One month ) or kms clocked ( 1000 kms ). Please enlighten me on this as I do not want any warranty issues later because I did not follow their schedule. Thanks in advance.
The manual is mainly focussed on KMs rather than months. The only thing that could be found in the maintenance and adjustment part of the manual is a minimum 1 year. So guess Ninja is a different beauty in the market whose age is immaterial but experience is tantamount. (the amount you have ridden) . So you can take your time and do servicing. Except that the warranty runs out in 30000kms or 2 years and battery check up is in days.

Well you need to ride her a lot more. Took delivery ONE DAY before you and did the first servicing on Day3. She is touching 7000 kms now. The more you open her up the more you would love her!!

Well o well, the green vs black game here. The green is a more racy and show off colour and the black is more of a smiling assassin.
You would never have problems parking the black anywhere. Bcos it just melts into the background and only when you start and rip the engine would ppl be aware of its killer skills.*

BTW Hero Honda splendor is not available in black but in green!!!

*-I own a black Ninja and hence my opinions could be biased. Big fan of black too. Own black riding gears and a black bike.

Pple who have already been through couple of services for their ninjas please shed some light on this topic...
Its one month or 1000 kms, 800 kms is specified kms where you have to keep the RPMs below 4k.

        • Hi Everyone! I'm a newbie - well at this anyway - and have been avidly following Xbhp's various threads and discussions for a couple of months now, as a reborn biker back in the saddle after a gap of almost 15 yrs. I just registered yesterday and this is my first post, so if I'm off-topic I beg your pardon!!

Just wanted to share that I'm taking delivery of my spanking new Ninja on Friday and I'm a Blackie too!! I'm sure the purists would sneer, but personally found the Green too....er....green!! Would have much preferred the SE Green but that's not available in India, so.....

Waited exactly 90 interminable days (phew!!) and am itching to throw a leg over and experience all that I've been reading about! Glad to be here !

@Bandhav, since it is not mentioned in the manual the validity of 1 month claim is bogus. Since its a paid service dont understand why bajaj should care about when u get the bike serviced.
Do understand that warranty might be void if the servicing is not done properly. But there is no mention of time period anywhere in the service manual. So guess its more of a rumor of 1 month than it actually is!!

@Sunnyside_up, Congrats mate. Behave properly with her during the engagement (read break-in) and then rip her after marriage (after break-in)!!

black just camouflages itself with other bikes it becomes hard to find what bike it is.

Here again goes another long weekend debacle about Black Vs Green!
                  (ofcourse a friendly way)

even being black bike is still hounded by idiots when parked and see atleast a single mark or light shoes marking on back that confirms some silly fellow jus had a seat on it.

guys can anyone find a paint guard film locally(hyderabad) ? its becoming hard to stop this goons from touching her. i see people has no respect for others belongings (in most of the cases)

In my opinion, guys going for black are afraid they will not be able to carry of the green, else its a no brainer as to which one looks better.

                    I know...got a little personal there.

Honestly, people who are self confident and who do not rely on colour of their bike as replacement therapy for certainly body parts go for black colour.

All other juvenile owners who want to shout Look at Me, Look at Me (since no one is giving them a single glance) go for green.

please consider above as humour and not as a personal attack.

                          • i also want to jump in this ROYAL BATTLE but all in good sport, so sincere apologies upfront if anyone feels i did cross the line here;

there are different phases of experience after spending that 3.2 lacs...
                            WEEK1
i believe when you buy something new - you want people to react to it - even if its bad; no reaction and getting no notice is no fun at least to me

                            TILL 1600
secondly in the first 1600 kms; where is the chance to show the kill... i think with BLACK first its not noticed (camouflaged as everyone says) and secondly even if its noticed when people see at what speed its running they would feel no man that's no NINJA it can't go that slow.

                            POST 1600
finally when the time for the kill comes; GREEN got declared winner because it was known from the WORD go (unless your rival owns a VILLA i.e. he also owns either R1, 848s harleys etc),
whereas for BLACK the other rider always maintains the false hope of winning, and after loosing he might go home saying, that BIKE was bloody MODIFIED... otherwise i would have won

                            1 YEAR POST PURCHASE -

BLACK will requires more work to keep it shining; so keep up the HARD WORK ...

                            THE GENETIC PROBLEM;
and i for one have some addiction to these not so normal colors - my previous two ownerships were YELLOW & PEARL WHITE (need not mention which lineage they come from)

                            so GREENER THE MERRIER

Ah! point note kiya jaaye m'lord - Green is a 'Look at Me, Look at Me' color aur mere fazil dost ke alfaaz mein the green bike is so attractive that even guys who are not getting a single glance will have 'all eyes' on them.

So...that proves that Green is the more attractive color. (The debate here was about which bike looks more attractive and not about the people who buy them)

                              I rest my case.
