  • [QUOTE=Sunnyside_up!;421082]Thanks Gurpreet, JD, happy to be here! BTW, is there anybody from Chennai here? Would be happy to hook up !

@ Aditya - Congrats man! I know exactly how you feel!
@ Jakrap, thanks for the advice bro.

@JD - don't think we have any female riders on this forum - yet. Pity as it would have been nice to get a lady's perspective - the wife loves it though! Incidentally, is it true that carrying a passenger should be avoided during the running - in?

Pillion should be avoided, as extra weight means extra load for the engine; moreover the owners manual does states the maximum load that this bike can carry and it is 170 Kgs, please do not carry a pillion during your running in period...

YOU have to stand on your rear brake to stop the bike ??????? Unheard of the Ninja 250R !

how will brake pedal travel help you there ? (brake pedal travel will help you decrease the sensitivity not increase it)
Are the rear brake pads ok ? Find out if the rear brake is malfunctioning (very scant probability of that happening tho)
Has your bike had any crashes or drops or has anyone rammed you from behind ? How old is the bike ?

At the cost of sounding like a snob I think either your rear brake is not working the way it should (in which case you need to take the bike to a doctor) or you just plain need to start using the front brakes.

Joe Rocket is absolute value for money. It is an international brand and is best bought at Performance Racing Store in Mumbai.
If it fits in ur budget go for joe rocket..
If you have more money to spare buy Astar.

So guess Ninja is a different beauty in the market whose age is immaterial but experience is tantamount. (the amount you have ridden) . So you can take your time and do servicing. Except that the warranty runs out in 30000kms or 2 years and battery check up is in days.

Well you need to ride her a lot more. Took delivery ONE DAY before you and did the first servicing on Day3. She is touching 7000 kms now. The more you open her up the more you would love her!!
Just confirmed the service schedule with the PBK Guys. Ninja is a premium segment vehicle and they do not have any time periods for servicing. So the kms are all that matters. And mate, I try to get on the bike every morning but the Chennai Heat just moves me away. Hope to get more of her this month. Cant beat you though.. Keep riding hard and ride safe..

Its probably a case of brake fade, happens when the rotors overheat. How do the brakes feel on short rides?
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

Or maybe the rear disc is not clean; if u get some oil on it then i guess it wont do the job its supposed to do; get it checked up mate, its serious business....

                • Thanks all for the concern & the suggestions. It was more a case of brake fade, had to use it a lot while coming back as the traffic was really heavy for almost 30 odd kms. The brake travel was all messed up. Took her for a short spin a while back & she's back to normal . Iuse both brakes simultaneously while braking never skidded even in emergency situations.

Is your bike under 500 kms ?

Hi Karthik, would like to meet up for sure! I live on the ECR, so Elliots shouldn't be a problem - problem is that I've still to break in my bike, so a quick trot isn't do-able yet . Where do you live?

                        • then your brakes havent bed in well yet !
Your pads are releasing gases under heavy braking. The gases are creating a repulsive action like that of two like pole magnets.

Brake fade due to overheating of rotors (or brake fluid boiling) happens but its highly improbable as traffic conditions are not enough to tax the rotors to such an extent. The 250R is a quality bike *thumbs up* !

Heavy braking when the brakes arent bed in yet is not good for your pistons

                          • Today we went offroading from Amby valley to Mulshi. A stretch of around 50 km.

Hats off to Jakrap. He is now officially India's first OFFROADING NINJA. I never would have dared ride my ninja on that road/no road condition. Good Job.
