Its a direct slip-in and it doesn't need any alterations
so, there is no worry's of losing the warranty as you can put it in yourself
Thanks Bala. Will complete the run-in and plonk the filter.

For those who are interested K&N filters are available at Methods Automotive in Lavelle road. They are the official distributors for K&N, Sparco, Koni's etc.

But my Studds Ninja Helmet Is not supporting that speeds. felt it really hard wind deflection is too much.feelin its time to change the helmet.
My Neck is Paining like a Hell

Whats your take on this helmet?
RKT 101 Solid Helmet Joe Rockets
          JoeRocket.com

Sourcing through performance race store(mumbai) for the above one

Would be helpful if you could Suggest Any Helmet In price Bracket 10k to 14k (landing PRICE) popular international brand will do.
I think the Studds helmet is moving around your head (in a twisting sort of way) due to the wind resistance, and that is making you uncomfortable. Most of the Indian helmets would have that problem because the fit is just not right. To prevent this from happening, crouch on the tank and the feel the wind resistance fade away considerably.

As far as international brands are concerned, you should be able to buy a great helmet under 14K. Check out brands like HJC, AGV, Shark etc, and buy only after you try them on and satisfied that it fits like a glove. Joe Rocket should be good too, though I have not had a chance to try the model you mentioned.

The cleaning kit from K&N is available at most outlets.

Does anyone know the part number for a K&N Replacement type air filter for the Ninja 250?
Will check the K&N filters, thanks!

Hey Thanks for suggestion. other thing i am being tall was tryin to crouch on the tank, at that speed felt little unsecured got up little bit got some wind blast which inturn had put pressure on neck. uff learnt some lesson, thats changing the helmet.

for the above joe rocket helmet(meets or exceeds dot and SNELL Standards, but its heavy one) got a price quote of 15k from PRS and also got a quote for akrapovic full exhaust for 33k (wondering if its full exhaust Coz couldn`t find on the company site)

Any guesses for price of K&N Airfilter?
            still not available in Hyderabad!!

                  • after a month or so i took the bike out for a spin.. Charged tyres, cleaned the bike, chain etc.

I was on my way to work at the airport, at about 110kmph ( i know too fast! ), I hit this wide spread of water on the road. The bike lost traction instantly.

now the road was curving to the right, and you really cant tilt the bike in water. I tried to slow it down, and i think i locked the rear wheel ( this has to be the fastest speed at which i have locked the rear wheel ) . I released the rear brake, trying to keep the bike straight.

Lets just say i was in the second inner most lane, and by the time i could recover i had reached the 4th, outermost lane. Kept it straight and prayed to god, Was dabbling around with the front brake slightly, and the rest of my body froze awaiting the rear stepping out and me crashing.

But i dint. As soon as the water got cleared, and the tyres got some grip, i instantly brought it down to sane controllable speeds.

Thankfully there wasnt anyone around, or my entire riding gear wouldve been tested properly!!

Whew.. I need stickier rubber.. the rears lock up too soon for my liking, though the front provides great bite!! Actually the bike is fine.. i overcooked it when i entered the water. I shouldve been more careful or GMR shouldve put up some signs or something.

PS - If anyone wants to enjoy a couple of Track like twisties in delhi, please head to the international airport. As soon as you head right from Radisson, after the traffic light, the road opens up into a long left hander, that quickly takes a wide u-turn to the right, and after a short straight, there is a steep left turn ( as good as a u-turn ), but is also downhill!!!!

Great for practising getting the knee down!!! lol!!!!

phew...must have been a gut wrenching moment.

the Ninja 250R's rear brake is just outright madness.
Double piston Caliper 220mm on that machine is insane.
My 600RR has SINGLE piston caliper 220 mm.

Its an overkill. And in emergency situations you WILL reach for the rear.
I am thinking of getting rid of the rear or of increasing the lever travel. Dont have the brain power to compute the force beng applied on a stupid brake which should rather be on a 600 and not on a 250.

Now before anyone jumps the couch to say they are the manufacturers and they know the best, pls dont !
They cant be bothered to R&D a special rear brake for this bike so they just fit the standard off the shelf brake which they have in their inventory than alllocate funds towards the development of rear brake for the 250.FACT

Sliding the rear on purpose is a lot of fun on the 250 though

Writing this from God's own country now. Had a 1500 km split-ride over the last couple of days from Pune to Kerala with some occasional thrills and kills. Got to do Pune-Blore in 10 hours ride (+ 2 hours of breaks) =12 hours!!

Thrills included a 30 Km "RACE" (not the motogp kind of ones, more civilized with full respect to all and sundry on the road but at speeds of 120+) with an Innova till Tumkur. The guy was right on my tail through out and even managed to get past on one occasion on a straight but it was soon relinquished from him with a big blip of the throttle.

The second thrill was the road from Mysore to Sultan Batheri. Good ghats and aweome turns on it, although a lil dense traffic but the view and the turns were awesome.

Apart from that got to ride her in some fierce rain and windy conditions on mountainous roads. The bike was literally swaying like a pendulum and was crouching on the bike at speeds of 60, making it look like it was being ridden at 120

Had a a fierce tank slapper on the Blore-Mysore road when I was travelling at 120 and failed to spot a bump (I know i shouldnt be travelling at that speed on that road. They got more bumps on that road than the hair u can count on ur head). I was literally standing on my brake, the rear screeched (should have brought the speed down a lil) and went over the bump and the handles slapped, thought I would go over the bike and it managed to hold steady..phew..Well please add this too the GWM a.k.a Gut Wrenching Moments list

Dont know whether its good or bad but that rear brake saved me here. It was the max application of that brake I have done so far!!!Otherwise I would have really tested my riding gears.

I do agree that sliding the rear is quite some fun, on other occasions thou!!

Hey dude wasup ? The last I saw of you was at Burger King. Looks like you have been up to a lot.
You seem to be having a lot of fun with your bike. Gratuliere dir !!

I dont think locking up of the rear wheel saved you tho. It sounds a lot like you got lucky or had mad skills to balance the bike.(whichever way you wanna see it as)
A locked wheel can never ever contribute in anyway towards saving a crash.
The wheels need to be in motion to keep the bike stable and from falling sideways. Add to that the fact that tyres arent designed to provide any sort of traction when sliding. I have had these WTF moments so often on this bike that I have started practicing controlled rear slides along with braking on a private road on a regular basis. But that is eating into my second set of tyres now. Hence the want to increase the lever travel.

Has anyone done that already ? Jd et Bluevolt ?

                          • ^^ i only got the lever adjusted slightly for better foot position, but thats about it. Im guessing its gonna need a rework of the cylinder, by either replacing it with a smaller actuator like that from the R15, to increase the amount of feedback and travel for a given foot pressure application.

Two up, the rear is ok, but still possible to lock the rear.

I work around that by placing my toe such that it takes a conscious move to move it up on the rear brake. However, that means my braking distance would go up normally.
