morever if you pull the cowl from back it's loose
I have read on other forums someone's cowl came off while driving fast lane , am surprised how kawasaki can compromise on this
I was toying with the idea of a cowl too but the cowl does not seat itself well and the fit is pretty loose too. So decided to pass.

P.S. Dude, could you tell me if the warranty gets void with an aftermarket slip-on? And could you also post a video clip as I want to hear the sound? Thnx mate.

They have purposely made it a bit loose so that it does not scuff the tail panels. There is a visible inch of gap all around.
It wasn't like that on the R15's cowl-it used to scuff the tail panels as well as tail lamp upper panel (In case of Ninja its plastic). I put some rubber beading (helmet waala) all around the bottom&now it fits snug&doesn't scuff too.
That said, when you compare the quality of the Ninja's cowl with that of the R15, you will realize how good they have actually made it!

A couple of pics of the cowl with the rubber beading would be helpful. Post with both the views(on & off the bike).... thanks...

            • While heading to office today morning the dreaded FI light came on! The engine kept cutting off at various speeds but the bike was at least running and the light was intermittent... Got to the Khivraj showroom in the afternoon where Prasanna and Manju tried to pinpoint the issue using the bike's diagnostics... They suspected a loose connection in the wiring. Unfortunately, they were not able to pinpoint the issue, the light however is hasn't come on yet since that time... I guess I will only know if the issue was solved after using the bike in heavy traffic as I suspect it to be correlated with the engine temp... Anyway I did get to learn something about the diagnostics so the day wasn't a complete loss -

There is a wire under the rear seat which can be attached to a connector that can help you ground the apparatus on the metal plate at the same location.

              1) Ground the wire 2 times in two seconds and the hold it there after that. In case of a fault present in the system the FI light will blink. The count of these blinks will help you narrow down the issue (called dealer 1 mode)

              2) Ground the wire 5 times in 2 seconds and hold it there, the blinking pattern now will point to a fault that has occurred earlier and is stored in the memory

              3) Ground the wire 5 times in 2 seconds and hold it there and now press the clutch lever for 5 seconds to erase the memory. This will help you figure out if the fault is still present or if the warning is due to a previous fault and als stop indications once the issue has been resolved.

Hope this will be helpful to the tourers...I'll try to get hold of the error codes corresponding to the flickering and post it here...I did not see this info in the owners manual so thought of posting it here...

pls see my post on page 232, same problem was with my cowl as the PBK buggers had put the rubber dampers wrongly; front @ back and back @ front; simply changing them did the trick and it is working fine since then, no problems whatsoever; if you do not believe me then you are free to come and investigate my bike
