I dont think engine braking is ever a bad thing Ninja or any other bike. However, that doesnt mean you use engine braking in emergency situations. In case of emergencies, always use the brakes to begin with.By the way, you can still cause you rear wheel to fish tail , even if you are engine braking.Originally posted by killer_instinct View Post

Exactly that happens a lot of times. Once the rear got locked too. And I totally agree that engine braking is not for emergencies.Originally posted by Hyperion View PostI dont think engine braking is ever a bad thing Ninja or any other bike. However, that doesnt mean you use engine braking in emergency situations. Also I read somewhere Engine braking wears of the Clutch quicker... is that true?... doesn't really matter if it isn't major though.sigpicI feel like Clark Kent on the streets riding the Pulsar, On the track.. with my Ninja.. I feel like Superman.

Possibly, I havent had any issues. My RTRs clutch is still pretty good (due for a change though) after 31K Kms.And I used quite a bit of engine braking.Originally posted by killer_instinct View PostExactly that happens a lot of times. On the flip side, braking too much too often will wear out your brakes much much more quickly.
Question for Bluevolt or anyone else , who has removed his front number plate and replaced it with a strip on the fairing:
Does it decrease visibility through the fairing when tucked in, crouching on the tank?Last edited by Hyperion; 04-27-2010, 03:29 PM.

wheels in motion help you swerve(that is what ABS does) locking up won'tOriginally posted by TenHut View PostA locked wheel can never ever contribute in anyway towards saving a crash.
The wheels need to be in motion to keep the bike stable and from falling sideways.
we usually think that locked up wheels is good sign of braking(optimum) but it isn't, the word is PUMP

once you start blipping and start going down the 'box trust me you shall do this even on the Chetak/M-800,
i search for gears in an automatic too
while braking

Nope haven't done that. I seldom use the rear brake strongly, even in emergencies. It is always 70% front, 30% rear for me, ever since I had a scare with the rear wheel locking up a few months ago!Originally posted by TenHut View PostHence the want to increase the lever travel.
Has anyone done that already ? Jd et Bluevolt ?
No, because your line of sight will be above the sticker if you install it in the correct (read lower) position.Originally posted by Hyperion View Post

killer if your rear wheel is locking up then you arent engine braking; you are downshifting at wrong revs and without rev matching(blipping the throttle)Originally posted by killer_instinct View PostExactly that happens a lot of times. Once the rear got locked too.
Engine braking should not result in wheel locks. You WILL wear out engine parts if you keep doing it so hard.
Engine braking should only play the part of assisting your lever braking. It should not be at par or more than the lever braking. (it should not be anywhere close to lever braking tbh)
My point exactly !Originally posted by sheelpriye View Postwheels in motion help you swerve(that is what ABS does) locking up won't

Easier to try swapping 600rr brakes with 250r.Originally posted by TenHut View Postthe Ninja 250R's rear brake is just outright madness.
Double piston Caliper 220mm on that machine is insane.
My 600RR has SINGLE piston caliper 220 mm.
Its an overkill. And in emergency situations you WILL reach for the rear.
I am thinking of getting rid of the rear or of increasing the lever travel.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

i came across this article last year, about ABS
Antilock Braking System (ABS) for Indian Motorcycles
at that time i had apache rtr 180 and i was really scared with my rear tyre and its braking capabilities.
anyone thinks putting these will reduce the lock-in or have tried these.

Effect of heat on paint
I know there has been a lot of discussion on the bike heating up, but I really do feel it is a lot...do you guys think I should report to PBK. It is so much that I am afraid my inner thighs will get scalded.
Secondly, I am using a cover for my bike which does not breathe it is a water proof cover, so my question is if I cover the bike immediately after using it when it is still hot, will the paint get effected due to the heat ?The company I keep:
Yamaha Rx100
Yamaha RD 350 (HT)
Bajaj Pulsar 150
Kawasaki Ninja 250r
