Friends - Any advice on my doubt? Will the stock tyres hold good for rainy season?

    • Like riding/driving any other vehicle in the rains, keep distance from the vehicle in front of you and avoid sudden braking at all costs. The tyres WILL get slippery in the rains.

Agree. But good closeout deals on riding gear are exceptions!

      • I've seen Pirelli 110/70 (front) on JC rd bangalore and the guy was quoting INR 2400. How could the rear tire be 11k- 2400?

Either Pirelli is ripping us off or the ones I saw are fake

I feel even PBK has taken a premium over the IIRCs, 11k is just too much for them

The first rain or occasional rain is always dangerous, as has been written at many other places. Rains after a long dry spell means all the mud and oil gets washed up on the road, making the surface slippery. You have to extra, extra careful when using normal road tyres (like IRC Roadwinners).

What made the bike skid? Were you taking slow turns? While launching the bike?
Any sudden inputs to the bike will likely make you lose traction. Plus some road surfaces in India (alteast in Pune) are as smooth as marble. You cant do much but pray on such roads.

I agree, it was my mistake to categorize it as supersport.

I have observed that when the tyres are cold, the bike skids even with slightest of rear braking. I skidded on Sunday morning within 20 metres from my home at speeds of 15-20 km per hour. Due to low speeds, it was not a problem. So the easiest solution is to take extra care till tyres have warmed up.

After warming up, there is no problem with road holding of stock IRC tyres (unless you want to fit in special wet season tyres).

I guess what you saw were either fakes or tires that were stocked way past the shelf life.

Anyway the prices i posted were from sites during a random search. Closeout deals would work out cheaper.

I am convinced that an investment in tyres is a considerable step towards safety.
+1 to that. Softer compound = more grip = lesser life or more wear n tear.

Its very important to warm up the tires before one starts ripping away. Please ride carefully.

P.S. A short burnout should solve the problem.

                • I got the speedo worm greased at the service centre today. It was really a pain to do that. First the bike has to be put on paddock stand. And then the fron portion was lifted by using a JACK (i hope i spealt it right ).
The worm was pretty dry as Prasanna showed it to me.

But still the sound remains. Is it possible that the other end of the speedo cable might need greasing. Just had a feeling that the sound was from upper part of the bike.
Just to remind, the sound is very faint one and occurs every 3-4 seconds. its audible only when i ride in quiet traffic.

EDIT: The sound is from throttle sensor as has already been pointed by "Ten hut ". It really gets irritating sometimes. But now i know what to do

                  • Hey Guys!
Been watching this space for a long long time. I booked my Green Baby on 19 Feb and got the delivery on 15 April. You can see that this is my first post. I will post my pics and experiences in the evening. I plan to maintain my bike as stock as possible. But i have done some additions/ subtractions :-

                    1) + Tank Pad
                    2) + Frame sliders

                    3) - Saree guard (should not have been there in the first place)
                    4) - Front number plate (i used to call it "nazarbattu")

I will surely post some pics in the evening. I was too excited to write that i am writing this from my office (i don't have pics here).

SEE YOU GUYS AND BE SAFE!!!

Congrats Gurpreet. Sounds like you were busy riding.

Do let us know which Frame Slider you have installed on the bike. Did it involve any cutting or griding or any modification to the bike to install it? And lastly how much did you pick it up for and where?

All the best and ride safe.

THANKS Aditya, no i did not ride much just 300 kms in past 20 Days; I was busy @ office; nyways, frame sliders were installed without any cutting/ grinding or any modifications to the bike. They were Bolt on frame sliders which the seller said that he got it from Bangkok. I got them for 5500; will PM you if u need the details. Later on i got to know from someone that Original Frame Sliders would cost around 10 to 15 K ; I think the ones i got are good enough and would do the job
Anyone else who have any idea on this topic, pls shed some more light....

                              • Wow. She looks hot Gurpreet.

But, you seriously need to buy leather gloves with knuckle protectors or at least gloves which have good quality leather on the palm area incl. the knuckle protectors.

Textile gloves wont offer much protection.
