Originally posted by invincible2110 View Posti second jd666 .. its a clean pull till around 145 kmph & then the speedo goes real slow. i've not got the opportunity to take it above 150.. but i guess the key to doing 165 kmph or may be 170 kmph if possible "quickly" is to shift up in 6th gear only after you touch 145-150 kmph which i guess is 13000 rpm in the 5th gear...once you shift up @ 150 kmph into 6th ...my guess is you will be at 11000 rpm in the 6th & you will have 2000 rpm of power left to take you to maybe 165-170kmph.
The Ninja tops at around 160-163 and you will feel the throttle reach its max on 6th gear at that speed. I hit 170+ on the speedo on the desert stretch for a few seconds between Jaisalmer and Bikaner and that was made possible by 5 things:
1) Higher tyre pressures (thanks Jd666!)
2) I believe I had a tailwind.
3) I took advantage of a long, gradual downhill gradient. In this case, the extra luggage seemed to aid the momentum.
4) Like you said, I maxed out on the 5th gear around 155 and then slotted the sixth gear.
5) And of course, no traffic or living being besides me and my bike! Otherwise such speeds are very unsafe and absolutely not recommended. Wear FULL riding gear and try it on only roads like this!
But the 170 kmph was very fleeting and the speedo came down to 160 as soon as the gradient ended.

I am surprised to hear from more experienced riders about the need to redline bike in 5th gear to achieve higher speed. Honestly, I never felt the need to do so.
At speeds above 120, your body starts acting like a wind sail so to avoid wind blast, you should crouch down on the tank. Just open up the throttle (not all the way) and you would see more than 160 in a very very short time.
(disclaimer : all the speeds quoted above are speedo readings)Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Could the Ninja owners post a review on the service experience?
I want to know how qualified bajaj is to carry out regular servicing and some accessory job's / special requests on the ninja.
Hope they take utmost care while servicing to ensure none of the removable parts like the fairing etc. gets scratched etc.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

I wanna ask n_aditya to refer to older posts to find the answer to this question but only a mad man will begin to browse through the older posts to find the needle in a pile of hay. Mods can we have a sticky thread please ?sigpic
