You may idle for about just 30 secs(if the weather is warm) and start riding by keeping the revs lower

usually when the engine reaches its ambient temperature, the idling goes back to normal idling speed so you can have a better idea

^^250R doesn't complain much with 93 RON? or it wants Shell and 97 RON fuel?

      • Pillion seat

so the pillion seat is not flat but like this ^ so you know where it will hit you

On a 200km ride (both ways) while leaving from home, the excitement suppressed the discomfort. A slight adjustment of your bum would be good enough to get rid of the discomfort. The adrenaline rush would keep the dis-comfort away too..

While coming back, it was bad. Maybe the reason that "going back to home" rides - you know where you will end up or maybe my bum had taken enough

        Tried adjusting, didnt work.

For a pillion rider there is nothing to hold on to except the person who is driving...not good when going over 100 and braking quickly (thanks to Bangalore humps)

Pillion rider does feel the adrenalin rush when the bike goes over 4k mark.

Moral of the story - bigger your bum, the better it is for riding as pillion.

I have noticed that when you start the bike for the first time on a day, the RPM will be above 2K and then after 2-3 minutes it will settle at 1K-2K. I felt it like an auto choke. By that time the oil will flow through the engine parts I guess.

Yes, there will be difference in response, after riding the bike for 5-10 KMs....

                          • Speed at 6K rpm...

                            Hi All - few questions;

                            1. I have completed almost 700kms now. After 800 kms I can ride the bike upto 6K rpm. What is the approx speed at that rpm? My wild guess says 90kmph

                            2. Shall I service the bike at 800kms or wait for 1000km mark?

                            3. Currently I change gears everytime the rpm reaches 4K. Hope its the correct method.

                            4. After 800kms, is it ok to change gears if it reaches 6K or will it cause any damage?

Thanks for your help in advance.

@6k the speed would be around 85 kmph. Check this website

                              2. Shall I service the bike at 800kms or wait for 1000km mark?

You may wait till 1000km, however make sure you get the chain cleaned and lubed. Its required after every 600 kms.

                              3. Currently I change gears everytime the rpm reaches 4K. Hope its the correct method.

Unfortunately, thats all you can do during the break in. But I think thats ok.

                              4. After 800kms, is it ok to change gears if it reaches 6K or will it cause any damage?

Ofcourse, i don't see a problem with that.

Thanks for your help in advance.
Thats my view... but I am no expert. Guys please add to the points or correct me if I am wrong.

Buddy.. by personal experience... I can tell you the fun only starts after you cross the 4k mark . Till 4k the bike behaves like my ol' pulsar.. but once you cross that mark... Its amazing, fantastic, mindblowing all in one.

                                Thats right.

When braking in just make sure you vary the RPMs. If you are not supposed to exceed 6k then dont sit at 6 k for an hour thinking u r only abiding to what is told to u. Keep varying the RPM from 3k to 6K through a series of downshifts and upshifts.

If you ask me you can throttle that ***** to 8k now. But if you arent comfortable doing something that the manufacturer hasnt recommended then stick to 6k.

I will tell you though...the real fun will start at 8k. You will not wanna ride it below 8k once broken in. The throttle response at 8k and above is the best and very very addictive.

My cents..others may have dollars to spare.
