@forty6: Awesome man.... too good a writing....

sorry folks for writing in late.... was busy with office work ....

Last weekend had some personal work in Mysore.... so decided to make a trip on the Kwacker... and now that the break-in is complete... i was happy that this journey will not be a painful one (as the last time i rode to Mysore @60 during break-in).

Friday afternoon , left at around 3:30pm(disappeared from office, though lot work was left ) to hit the Nice Road. The first stretch is a very small one and was completed in 2mins or so....
When reached the second stretch, I was ready to rip (or rape ) the sexy machine. Ahead of me was a 2.5 kms of empty road tempting me.. and if someone tempts me. i cannot control .

Openned the throttle. 1 2 3 4 5 6 .... and it was 120.... the direction was the south westerly (completely against me).. which made me think whether this time will I be able to reach the max. possible on this machine this time.... by the time it was already 150... and then i thought, lets open it up.... with a little slope ahead.... it was 165kms.... The feeling was awwwwwweeesome...

I use this bike as a commuter.... because.. the day i do not ride it.. i feel the day has not yet completed for me.... and when i Ride it to office every day... i am reminded of the song by Nirvana-rape me... or Rip me.. ...

Another funny incident happened couple of days back... Everyone knows that this bike attracts attention, but this incident is rather unusual.
I was ripping the bike on a lone lane... and two ppl where answering nature's call by the side of the road... hearing the bike roar... they just turned around...

As for the discussion for the tires.... i was also doing some bit of research on it . and found out that bridgestone BT 045 might be good... Any comment folks... ?
This might be a good option for longer life as the shoulders are of soft rubber and centre is hard.. so may be the life can be around 15k kms or more..
    RIP Marco

          • Went on a short ride today to tank up for tomorrow's ride.

Checked air pressure and the front was down to 18psi. Checked for punctures but luckily none. filled up as per spec's to 28 and 32 (fr & rr resp).

Will be ordering a K&N air filter on ebay soon.

My Xena will reach me by this month end.

Bro, just a thought - can't you fill Nitrogen instead of air in the tyres? It will require top-ups less often, right?

Air contains 70% nitrogen. There are no scientific results to prove that filling in nitrogen in the tires is better than normal air. Moreover I have nitrogen air filled in my esteem's tires and couldnt see any difference.

                  • Pure nitrogen increases the life of the tyre, since the oxygen trapped inside the tyre will cause degradation of the rubber though by a marginal factor. For people with high running and short intervals between tyre replacement ( say once every 2-2.5 years) it doesnt really make a difference ( hell we've been doing without nitrogen for a good 40 years, till it showed up! ). So to each one his own.

Totally agree. I can't find any data that proves that conclusively either.

I only asked because I have noticed the top-up intervals with Nitrogen are longer; which means that the tyre pressure is at the proper level for longer - right?

Wouldn't this mean lesser wear on the tyres due to constant levels of inflation?

                            • Ordered for a K&N Air Filter (Part # - KA2508) yesterday and it should reach my folks in the US in a weeks time. My goodies will arrive at the end of this month.

Cost me around 60 USD (around 2.8K INR) and i think its a superb deal. Methods Automotive, an authorized K&N Dealer in blore, quoted 5k for it.

Badly wanna order a slip-on but thats gotta wait for a few more months.

                                hey aditya,

i have already got one from methods for 4,500 in hyderabad

the fitting of filter was a bit tight in the ending but no problem with breathing

it breathes much better than before

even i am thinking of putting up a slip-on MGp Hot Growler for 14K in US

i think its the cheapest alternative to others
