Thats a bad FE but dont worry, there is still a lil bit running in left or am i being overoptimistic
You rode as the company suggested? Keeping the bike under desired speeds till 1000 kms were done. 38 is way less than what mags quoted. Keep us updated on FE part.
Sorry to know about scratch on fairing, its so damn big and its difficult to save it from morons. Be careful parking in parking lots.

Its a RTMI (real time mileage indicator)- total bakwaas
At one instant it may show 50-60, next second it may show 20-30. It depends entirely on how much throttle you give and which gear you are in.
Its not a avg fuel consumpn- kms travelled/petrol used.

    • the real time indicator is the worst gadget........one time it will show 45 and sometime depending upon speed it may show even 70-80.....

i think they must incoporated a average fuel consumption indicator......

i have break in my bike well.....with max speed of 80 km reached 5-7 times....

i will wait for 500 km more else i will go to svc and check wats the problem....

      even my zma-r gives me 42 kmpl.....i m expecting 45 + from this 1 lac machine.

+1, i have experienced this in my car and only avg fuel consumption indicator is useful. Instant one shows haywire readings. Wouldnt have posed much problem for HH because ZMR has a nice digital console and engineers could have found a way out.

        I understand your agony.
Yeah its a FI version and most mags have claimed it to be more efficient than ZMA-r. So you did break in the way companies suggest, nice.
I did the hard run in and happy with FE- though mine is a diff bike
Why dont you contact the other sole owner of ZMR, Mohsin, maybe he can tell what FE is he getting.

Can anyone give an insight on how svc people tune FI bikes? For carbd bikes they fiddle with AFR etc.

Wait till the bike is run-in properly before concluding about mileage. It will take sometimes second service too for the bike to settle in properly.

Here is the anwer for the use of RTMI.

Fuel efficiency is affected due to quality and quantity of the fuel. Try filling normal unleaded petrol from a reliable fuel station.

firstly its a new bike, and as with all other new bikes, the efficiency before the 1st/'2nd service is not to be taken seriously. For some it'll increase, and for your sake, i'll skip the next part of the sentence.

i was getting about 38-40 on my 220, after first service and coupled with sane riding i'm now getting 45+. and do stick to normal petrol throughout, new bikes don't take to change in fuel quality that well.

                    • Anmol: Hope you are not taking her past the 60kays. I had the zmr for a couple of days with me and it gave a consistent 40 plus average! Infact the engine growls when i used to hit 60, so better do the running in properly. And use all the gears. With the engine opening up, i see the ZMR giving a sure fire 40-45kpl in the city. and much more on the highways.
And this is with normal unleaded fuel.

yes i agree! The RTMI behaves sensibly when you are riding at consistent speeds. Like for eg, when i used to do arnd 55kays it used to show around 55 to 70 kpl, which is understood as the real thing will be 5kms less or more. So yes it works, but not at inconsistent speeds.

Instead of the RTMI they should have given a gear indicator like on the VFR.

they use the FI diagnostic tool to tweak the AFR, ignition mapping, etc. so much more accurate than a tiny screw which can make or break the power characteristics of our Carbed bikes

here's a pic for reference, although the basic ones may not look anythin like this.

                            Thanks bro.
I like the FI models for this. No problems of mechanics fiddling with AFR etc and screwing things.
Its like a mini computer i guess- the same thing which is connected to cars ECU for error codes etc.

I was wondering if the current season of Roadies i.e Roadies 7 will get the Karizma ZMA or ZMR?
I would love to see all the ZMR's in all colors moving around Africa

Lets see, am sure HH wont leave this opportunity to publicize the ZMR amongst youth.
