Guys.. I'm having a weird sound that comes after I go for a ride in the bike.. when the engine is cold there is not much sound.. Its like a sewing machine. Is it timing chain noise? And if I increase the throttle when idling the sound also increases. Should I stop riding the bike completely till I get it fixed? Also what are the reasons for the same..?

P.s I'll record that sound and upload as a video soon..

If it's timing chain on idle there will be tik tik chain clatter and the noise will reduce with load, best way to test is to go at a considerable speed in final gear close throttle and let the bike slow down without disengaging the clutch, you'll hear clatter getting loud it's loose. If so replace tensioner, around ~500rs.

As for loose tappets you'll hear sewing machine sound, and it will get louder as the bike heats up, and the noise would increase as the revs climb. If so set both intake and exhaust to 0.10mm clearance.

Thank you sir. It is the sewing machine sound and its absent during cold start. Only when the bike is warm the sound arises and it increases as the Revs go up..

Would there be any problem if I ride the bike without getting this fixed immediately?? Or should I completely stop riding and get this issue fixed first?

Getting it sorted out is a 10min job why delay it, nothing bad would happen but bikes performance would take a hit, as the valves duration is reduced.

And am just 21, so please drop the 'sir'.

Google for "squish band" and you'll find the answer.

I had the problem from day one. The fuel pump was finally replaced by the Thane ASC last August when the bike had 1500 kms on it.

I had a few near death experiences because of the sudden stalling of the bike at the most unthinkable of situations. As usual, ASCs, especially form where you have purchased your bike, are always reluctant to replace parts under warranty.

                ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

BTW, have been reading a lot on fuel pumps of late. Conclusion: Japanese fuel pumps are not reliable. Luck does play a role.....

I know how annoyed/frustrated you must be getting troubles in a new bike. I had similar dealership troubles with my previous bike, and eventually gave the Warranty a toss and got hold of a local mech.
You are absolutely correct about the dealer's being reluctant.
I had tappet sound issues with my ZMR from day one and was not addressed(1st service) after raising the issue in the 2nd service, i got it done but still not satisfied by the work done.

Sadly I couldn't take a longish TR of the new ZMR. Met with an accident on my way to Hyderabad. Broke my thumb, and dislocated 2 bones in my elbow. I'm glad I was fully geared.

Yet I got some pics clicked by Srikanth himself. On the other hand, I owe it to Hyderabad xbhpians, especially Ravi anna. I'm alive because of you guys.
Bike is also in a bad state.

Sad to hear that bro. This is probably your first accident on the ZMR. What happened? Who's fault was this?
