  • Is this a bad habbit ?

hello i have a question.normally when i full stop my motorcycle i slow down in 1st gear and then i release the clutch slowly ( still engine running ) so the engine stops and finally i turn the key off so does this habbit affect my cluth plates ? should i really need to put to neutral and then turn off the key ? or while in 1st gear turn off the engine with the key without releasing the clutch ? please help.thank you

I would have gladly joined if it were not for an interview at a college.

First off, the way you use is far more circumventing that simply using the Ignition on off and/or kill switch. Secondly it doesn't ruin your clutch plates as such, but it can induce unwarranted wear and tear on the clutch plate or the system collectively. You can either switch off the bike using ignition key, and then bring the bike to neutral or bring the bike to neutral and then switch off. It's really such a no-brainer, but using the ignition key and/or the kill switch is a good idea.

          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

          THE END

This is ZMR mate, no engine kill switch i guess thats the reason he is resorting to shortcut like strangling the engine while in gear instead of lifting hand and turning the key off

In ZMR, i'd advice you not to turn off the ignition and switch it on again cause every time you do that, the fuel pump turns on to pressurize the fuel and frequently doing that would not be advisable. If you feel you need to turn the engine off, better put the bike in 2nd or 3rd gear and the release the clutch while holding the breaks. Do not do it in first gear as the bike will jerk. When it is in higher gears and you release clutch, there will be no power for the engine to pull which means it'll shut off a bit more quickly with less motion. However this may cause unwanted side effects so avoid. No harm in letting the engine idle when you are at signals. If however you are getting off, then obviously, switch off the ignition.

@Divya Sharan - Sad to know about your incident. Get well soon and get back on wheels sooner.

                    @veryhiphop - Any updates on V2 Chain Sprocket ?

I am interested in ZMR V2's swing arm. Would like to know if it will fit with No or Less modifications on ZMR V1.

                    Also V2 has 35W H7 bulbs , non sense !

As per the mechanic at Sai motors, the Collar and adjuster dimesnsions are changed and are not a direct fit. Same in case of the New ZMA as well. even I was interested to go in for the New swing arm. Neither the spares catalogue or the price list have reached the showrooms, so cant rely 100% on the information.

@All:P has anybody removed the engine cowl completely and have had a Headlight Changed? if so, what arrangement was made to hide/waterproof the bank angle sensor with the wiring bundle? Did flip back few pages, couldn't find, but if Im not wrong somebody was planning to or got one done something similar.

I used my bike close to an year without the fairing. I had put round headlight & had kept the bank angle inside it.

Speedometer cable is not detachable, its a headache to reroute it. Also if u wish to retain speedometer ull need a customized meter clamp.

After all this it will be fun to ride in traffic , but due to windflow/aerodynamics u will lose top end.

I don't have much photos, may be one or two. It should be available in this thread itself. Will share once I get on to PC.

I used yezdi doom with ambassador seal beam. Had to customize the stays also as clip ons get mounted directly on fork. Height should be shortened.
