hey guys,i am having mileage issues with my new zmr 2014 ,the bike has completed 900kms and i am getting an average of 27-28kmpl, and i think thsi is a very low figure zmr. my riding is basically in streets and ocassionally on roads oly for a few kms but mostly in streets so the bike is mostly in 1st to 3rd gear max.so is this average ok for this kind of usage or is there something wrong with the bike, and if there is something wrong the bike then what can i do about it???

How did you check the avg??

can you please let us know the steps?

usually tank full to tank full is what I follow and it is the most accurate. to be honest, if you are going to be riding in 1st to 3rd gears, the bike is definitely going to give below 34 but not 27 or 28..

my fuel tank was completely empty as the bike was not starting ,so i filled 6.7ltrs petrol and started the trip meter and the bike ran 178 kms only and the tank was again empty .

Empty as in your fuel tank was completely dry? What the hell dude!! Stop doing that right now. You keep doing this and your fuel pump is going to go kaput soon. If you want to check your mileage, fill your tank completely, ride for around 100 kms and re-fill again, note the amount of fuel filled and calculate.. That's the best way to note your mileage. Not by emptying your tank.

no the tank was not completely dry there was some fuel in it i think about half ltr,i think it is left in the tank for the reason you mentioned so that the fuel pump doesnt run dry,but the bike wasnt starting, still the mileage is preatty low, dont you think??

I have run on empty tank like 4 times my ZMR was from few of the first slots that were delivered to showrooms back in Feb 2010.. didn't know about all this till I was told by the Service manager.

it sounds pretty low in-fact. can you check the spark plug and grab couple of pics? but I feel it could be because of your riding conditions, as in the crowded area and not able to shift above 3rd gear..

He probably meant the Zapper Q. The new ZMRs come with 120/80-18..

And as far as front tire is concerned. Am happy. Infact very happy with my Michelin Sirac Street.. completed 22000 kms with it and no Punctures til now. Perfect for wet conditions, dry and well gravels too.. they are TT.. But i was told they can be used as TL and I am using them as TL til date and perfect tires as far as it is concerned with my Black Pearl.. been loyal to me so my next front tire will be a Michelin Sirac street again..
