Is the tappet niose fixed? -> no completely. I get it once in 4 beats at idling. Increases are the Rpm goes to 2.5K rpm. Zero after that
Prabhu, please copy paste the text and pics here in the thread. It will be useful to have the your content on the board as well. Thanks

      RE CLassic 500 Efi: ride/ownership report !!

      Hi xBhpians,

Short ride report of Classic 500 !!

The bike is just in for first service..

      KMS: 507 kms.
      Fuel filled: 16 litres.
      Mileage: 31.7 kmpl.

      Pros:
      • Engine is a masterpiece. The bike runs really well. It is smooth and has so much torque, its tough to keep it below the 50 kmph mark . Ride on smooth tarmac is bliss.
      • Suspension is just about rightly set up. Its not too soft neither too hard and ride on bumpy surfaces is eased out easily.
      • The electric starter works like a charm every single time (very unsuccessful with the kick start most of the times ).
      • Doesn't feel heavy and is very managable in traffic. The short turning radius is more than a boon .
      • Brakes are really good. Tried hard braking on different surfaces and also unexpectedly for a few potholes, it held well and there is no brake fade.
      • The seat is very comfortable, though the spring goes down a little on acceleration. It is very well made. (report on pillion comfort on later updates )
      • The only oil stain i see is from the lubricated chain spilt on the run on the inner side, that apart no leaks (touch wood, chair, table, tree or what ever by products of wood )
      • It an eye catcher, especially with the young brigade and cops (one cop stopped to ask if its fast enough to catch all bikes )
      Cons:
      • The mileage is difficult to calculate with the light blinking on cornering, left hand U turns, braking, bumpy roads and parking on side stand. I am not sure on the number posted above for mileage as the light went out just when i was to re-fuel (best would be tank it up, note the number of kms run and tank it up again for correct figures).
      • There is a slight tappet noise at lower RPM (say till about 2000 rpm) then vanishes (Answer from RE: It is due to the auto-decompressor and will vanish soon).
The bike otherwise is very good to ride, smooth, hassle free and very very comfortable. Right now contemplating on whether I should change to the upswept exhaust or wait for a few more kms on the odo .

      Cheers,
      Deepak.

I think they charge extra 1500 rs for pillion seat and 3500 for bend exhaust.

I asked a bullet dealer in pune and they told me 1,24,000 on road +3500+1500

Please put some light on this.

Im 90% sure the pillion seat is a part of the deal. 1500 may be to remove the saree guard and replace it with a normal stay.

i got a question: is its loggical upgrade from pulsar 220 Fi.i know they are par different..one is cruiser and other sporty one.but in aspects of power, does it feel upgrade from some 220 owner's view.

Hi Monty !! Logical or Illogical depends on the end result u have for change !! I had a P220 Fi before I bought the Classic 500 !!

P220 is an awesome machine, ran faithfully for 25000 kms in 2 years.. Went thro the entire Ladakh ride, over K Top, M top without even a glitch !! So was with the case of the 2 Mach 500s accompanying me !!

I felt more at ease for cruising on the highway and hill climbs with 500s cause of the shear big engine and higher torque... lesser revs at high speeds makes it easy to ride..

Power wise yes I felt its an upgrade... This thing can pull fast !!

That apart i can vouch for both.. I do a lot of touring... so i changed to Classic 500 from P220..

So see what end result u need and then change.. if not P220 is a good machine...
