  • mindblowing experience

    hey guys,
today i decided to go the enfield showroom in adyar(chennai) wit my bro who is going to get a new bike.

i took the tbird for a test drive and then asked the sales person if i a Classic 500 was available for a test drive and the immediate response he gave me was "please dont ride the C500, coz after riding that you wont like the tbird". i really underestimated his statement.

i was apprehensive about the test drive coz im only 5.6 ft and weigh only 65...
but the sales person said dont worry just take a test drive.
he took out the bike(green color) and it was a single seater. i feared driving the massive machine but took courage and sat on top of it.
i had to self start it coz i couldn kick start
the moment i released the clutch i was just into another world.

i was simply mesmerized by the throttle and the torque that the machine generated. i dont have words to explain the experience. i took a long test drive of around 2 kms and drove towards the beach and all were looking at the bike. the bike is simply an attention grabber.
after the ride the sales person informed that for C500 the waiting period is of 9 months, 3 months for tbird and 6 months for C350. we wer like what???

actually we wer supposed to go to take the zmr for a test drive after this but then we decided chuck it man who needs another bike when there is RE.
we wer so taken by the bike that we paid thousand bucks and booked the bike. i think its worth the wait.

i have narrated my experience to everyone i have met today. if only i had rode it earlier i could have bought the bike before i got my fz

    • I have done 8000Km on the bike. The bike looks so solid and no issues as such now! last week I went to namakal. did about 250 kms in 3.5 hrs flat with pillion. The bike has the ability to sustain high speeds for long duration. Not a single drop of oil spill. Rode it almost every where. Highways, beaches, ghats offroad, with pillion without pillion etc. The bike is an awesome performer.

The astonishing factor is the odo. The odo reading matched the highway reading with 100% accuracy. Another factor is, the oil level in the case is exactly to the level I filled 2K kms before even with all these rippings, which means that the piston rings are sealed to perfection!

The only worrying thing is the mileage. I just got 25km/l. But ya on high speeds it will be less and more over the accurate odo reading makes it meaner. Now, looking for a means to get that brake pedal above the silencer so that the GC is higher on right turns too. on hard left turns the side stand spring scratches the road, but that's ok, anymore then I wont ve the rubber side up

      Thanks,
      Prabhu

      • @Calibre wow nice wite up

My bike has done 3.4k now and for last 2 weeks it was parked in my garage as I had gone out of station. After I came back ... I could get it started with one kick start ...

I have noticed small oil marks on the engine head, I am worried as this is not the 1st time am seeing this ... will take it to RE workshop tomorrow.

Also I wanted to get my stock Horn changed ... a more like a bullet profile horn, something close to Skoda horns. Can you guys suggest something that is not too loud but has a distinct Bullet sound profile ? Also if relay is required what are my options and how can I wire them ?

        • My bike has done 6100 kms on the odo now

The bike is stable and planted, somehow the niggling wiggle at high speed issue just vanished by itself and is a pleasure to ride around now !!

The mileage is between 25 to 28 kmpl, I guess thats ok a for a long stroke 500 cc..

            • Well, oflate Im facing issues with the battery. It looks like the battery is not getting charged. Should be a rectifier or battery issue.
Any one else with the same issue ?

I met a guy at Service Station who had similar problem on C500 and there was already one more C500.

I am really psst at RE now ... its been almost one n half month since they promised me a new set of Spark Plugs! Currently they gave me left side plug from 350cc (Mico) and a faulty plug for right side.

I use to get 30-35km/lt but now its way below it, even for long rides. So much carbon.

                • Okay I need help guys,

My Bike (C500 4000kms) won't start, typically in the morning or if I keep it for too long say 8hrs minim. In 1st self it will start but if by mistake engine turns off before it warms up it won't start, I tried kicking several times, n self too ... in fact when I give self sometimes it make a gear crunching noise ! Shits scars the hell out of me. I think this started in rainy season even tho bike is parked in shade, dry.

I am not able to diagnose the problem, I cleaned the spark plug ... good improvement but still not like before. Bike use to be really smooth before, I mean at least when it comes to starting.

Workshop guys think it may be cause some component got wet, but I tried to explain it happens when bike is parked in shade (dry).

                  Your suggestions are appreciated.

                    guys,

my friend is looking to buy C500 and we checked with Teknik motors in Indiranagar and they told us that there is a waiting period of 10 months..!!!!
Is this the case everywhere? Is there a dealer who can give us the bike without that much delay in B'lore? Please help me on this..

I did the same yesterday. Teknik Motors, called the Outer Ring Road/Sarjapur Road showroom. 10 months waiting time. He also claimed there will be a price hike soon, but that could be just to hustle me. When I asked him why so much time, he said the company had not ramped up the production, but demand was high. Duh.

                      • yes dude, thats true! RE didnt expect this much demand! When I spoke to the fellows before the launch they were expecting 500 bikes to be sold in 6 months! I tried telling them that 500 will go off in a month! but as usual deaf years.

I too faced the same issue at 4000 kms, It like, the bike starts in a single press of the button, but if you let it stop before its hot then it takes 3 to 5 kicks, but then if I pull the choke and start it starts in a single kick, so I didnt worry about it much

ohh thats so sad.. he want to get the bike immediately. His other options are R15 and ZMR.. he might end up buying one of them than waiting 10 months.. sigh!

                          • C500 and C350 8 months waiting period !!!!

                            Hi Friends,

Today i had been to RE Showroom in Bhandup West.

I saw the beast and i lost my sight for almost 15 sec

When i figured out the beast then i just adored the marvel work of it and was very pleased with C500 and C350.

There are few Problems with Royal Enfield Company:-

                            1. C500 has a waiting period of 8 months dot
                            2. C350 too has the waiting period of 8 months dot God help me

                            3. C500 and C350 has a booking amount of Rs 1000 only. Rest of the part needs to be paid when bike delivery comes to 1 month.

                            4. I am die hard fan of Yamaha but the RE C500 turned me to RE. It's technology and power and looks are pulling every biker to it's side.

Can any one tell me any other showroom from where i can book the RE C500 and can get the delivery in within 4 months.

Else i will go for Yamaha R15. Can't wait for more then 4 months.

But it's sure that a true biker will buy a Royal Enfield C500one day.

I will surely buy RE C500 in next time when the chaos of C500 gets down and waiting period won't be more then 2-3 months.

I tour a lot so i will buy C500( Touring purpose) with my Yamaha R15(will buy it in few days- for till that time).

Why are the waiting period so long ?

                            • @somen1984 well I am really sorry, this will be the situation everywhere you go. Royal Enfield was not expecting this spike in demand. Their manufacturing is slow tho ... 8-10 months waiting is all over India, doesn't matter which showroom you book from.

When you book, you directly register in Royal Enfield CRM. But I will tell you this, its worth the wait. The power, the presence and of course the ride is unbeatable ! Thank god I booked it in Nov and got it in April :P
