      • one word of caution to all bull owners, RE has done years of research to build a bike, so does every company, do not try to tweak the settings just for the heck of it. KN filters r technically not suited to these machines. if u think KN gives extra power, forget it, ur engine wl go for a toss, the piston wl expand due to excessive air intake causing overheating. to tweak performance, u wl need KN, open silencer, NGK plug, plug coil change, lighter crankcase. after all this mods u need bigger main jets...........whats the use if u r noit doing this to hit the race tracks, for touring purpose ur stock bike is best......trust me, this is from my long experiments and experience

        • Well Biswaroop! thanks for the caution, May be I said only a part of mods I did.

          1) NGK Iridium plugs
          2) Free flow eshaust
          3) Imported Performance filter(its not K&N) that replaces the stock straight
          4) Tuned the EFI (No jets here)

And reagrding the years of research - Just check the aribox in the CL500, even a lame guy will know that the dust will sneak through box and enter the intake. Check the airfilter deisgn - The surface area of the open side is less than the other side, which means that the engine will definetly choke at high rpm.

The rule of thump is to let the engine breath easy.

          • well prabhu in my lil exp. with bulls, EFI engine by itself is a marvel, mods r done to extract more power, which the manuf. deliberately keeps under control for obvious reasons. in our gang of 200 riders, i hv seen too many bikes fallen prey to unplanned, non-technical mods, resulting in piston expansion, push road breaks, burning up of silencer wool, engine seizures.CL500 already does 110 easily, y to get more speed, does it not get uncomfortable over n above 100kmph? comeon this brand is a touring bike moden not meant for race tracks.

Dude.. its not that I'm gonna ride at 140 all day. Its just a top speed recorded. And with these mods, the bike with breath easy at the given speed as 90, 100 or 110. Ya non- technical mods like installing a free flow and insane jets will screw the engine and lead to untold miseries. But this is well studied mod done in consultation with a mech whose toys are R1s and Busas and BMWs and harleys

              • in that case, can u share the mech details, i hv a 2006 TB, hv a E0990 KN(stock replacement), 115 main jet, 15 size stock pilot, Z formation Indore silencer. it reaches 110 smoothly. what am looking for is not speed, but smooth transmission, i had also upped the needle jet to 2nd screw position. but am not sure after all this if the engine is keeping good health and wl not get into trouble in long run. once due to this my piston had expanded, got it re-polished, but during morning starts it emits slight smoke, but keeps fine after that

                  1) Is RE planning to relaunch their electra (Cos its not available now)--Just got my Cl500. The showroom(Noida) already has the new electra, with the CL350 ( UCE) Engine. It is priced almost the same as the CL 350. Looks pretty much similar too.

                  2) What is the actual mileage of C500 ? Company claims 40KMPL-- I am getting around 33, before my 1st service. Showroom insists that it will be above 35, once a couple of services are done. lets see.

                  3) What is the actual mileage of C350 ? Company claims 50KMPL -- No clue here. But no electra ever gave a mileage above 37038, to my knowledge. However, the UCE makes this a completely new ballgame.

                  4) Is C500/C350 good for a height 5.10 ? Cos i think it looks small in compare to electra .-- I am 6'00". And I feel fine on the CL500. It is slightly shorter than a regular bull, but stockier too. I kinda like the short, squat fat look. Have always been a Harley Fatboy fan. Though many of you might not agree, i found the maneuverability and cornering of a Bajaj Avenger better than bullets, because of their shorter height. All in all, I think it is a good thing, this reduced height. Gets you closer to the ground, easier for your foot to reach the ground while standing/stopping. Makes you feel more stable, on turns and, if you ever get into a skid, you will feel the world of difference, a lower bike makes. Sometimes the difference between a crash and a near crash!

                  please help .
All in all, I hope you go for it.

                  • The mech is none other than Irashad, But the thing is he will not work on Bullets. I had to force him a lot to do me the favour.

I too had a 2007 TB. went for K&N and 500LB carb and a short bottle silencer. But later had white smoke on cold starts.
Emitting white smoke in cold starts, shows that piston rings are not sealing properly.. This might be dude to Piston expansion too. If this happens after a mod, then the mod is improper.

for head-ache, I was talking about the up swept exhaust that is installed on CL500 which is at dealer. It is too loud, kind of free-flow.

                      Pabhu,
What did you do for the air-filter? Right now I've temporarily sticked cello-tape on the outside of box (only above hinges). Can you give more specs about air-filter?

And did you changed exhaust to free flow? which one?

                        • hi ashish, ur bull wl hv a service manual, follow the speed limits as mentioned, neways avoid doing high speeds even after ur initial 4 services, enjoy the ride with "breeze in the hair" style, bulls behave well that way and u do not get the fun of riding a bull with "storm in the hair" style. congrats for ur new possession

May I ask how the FI was tuned? I am assuming that you have richened the mixture to compensate for the free flow filter.

                              Cheers,

                                Hi Jay,

Even Chinoy seems to indicate that he figured out how to adjust the AFR's on the C5. Any info on that?
