For me the light usually comes on after 35 kms riding in reserve... since reserve is 2.5l, you should get around 95-100 kms riding in reserve till the tank runs close to dry, which leads to my next question...
Can the full reserve quantity be used? As in the whole 2.5l or is there something like usable reserve? Can the tank be milked dry as such? (The manual doesn't mention it but I read this somewhere, on the brochure perhaps) Can anyone clarify ?
This is regarding the carb rtr not the fi. And I didn't get a reply for the fork oil issue I posted earlier...

the low fuel idicator (orange light) turns on after the blinking bar vanishes..Originally posted by Nithanth View PostHey I have a small query. What does it mean when the last bar on the fuel gauge starts to blink? And when does the low-fuel indicator turn on? Which one indicates reserve?
it means its thirsty :P .. feed some fuel
reserve is the orange AFAIK
the mechs at svc told me not to ride the bike much with the orange light on.. unless its an emergency .. try not to get that light on..
the fi needs a min of 2.5-3 L of fuel on board to properly function ... this is what ive heard and am not sure.. but wont risk it anywayLets put a smile on your face

your oil seals are gone buddy.......Originally posted by mzone View PostHi guys just wanted to ask a question...
My RTR has done 1150 kms and a friend of mine pointed out to me that my forks are leaking oil a bit...

Is this normal? I mean it not leaking a lot but is it supposed to be like this? The mech had opened my forks once to loosen them up so I don't know if that had anything to do with it...
make sure you replace them as a set ie. of both the forks together....even if the other is not gone and replace the forks oil to new as well....
the FI needs full 2.5-3 litre for the sake of tht fuel pump.....Originally posted by mzone View PostFor me the light usually comes on after 35 kms riding in reserve... since reserve is 2.5l, you should get around 95-100 kms riding in reserve till the tank runs close to dry, which leads to my next question...

now after that we were doin some stoppies etc...n i wen a lil off balance n while landing ..i slightly leaned to the right side n fell...i leveraged it on my thighs so it didnt touch the ground....
now after the trip while comin. i wasnt ridin the rtr ... but an r15.. my fren... he tol the bike wobbles like fallin cards on speed of jus 110kmph...... front fork oil is leaking...right side wala..... front brakes are jammin on the slightest of touch...... tappet issues are on its all time high....got my 4th service 15 days back..n i did 2000 kms on it already.. anyways.....

But Its a brand new bike! I have done only 1150 kms That too over not really bad bumpy roads, no wheelies, stoppies etc. The mech did open up the forks and loosen the piston inside though.do the seals have to be changed even after opening? It leaks only from the right side though. Since they did it I guess I have to take it back to the Service station and get it replaced.
how much does it cost or is it under warranty?

It's not a hard-written rule that seals must be changed on every opening, but yes, they can be damaged and if even slightly so will cause a leak. It's no biggie though, typically seals cost about 75 bucks a piece and add 50 or so for oil. not sure of tvs prices. labour could be high though. get a quote from a (good) outside mech and if it's much lower than tvs go for it. if only one's leaking change just that.Originally posted by mzone View PostBut Its a brand new bike! warranty ?! that's a laugh. these tvs @$$0le$ don't seem to cover 98% of parts under warranty, there is NO WAY they will do the fork. unless your tvs svc guy is an angel. or a human.
