If one of the cell of the battery has become weaker, and bike is in regular use, the battery will take load of starter. Only thing is there will be drop in voltage. Starter will rotate slower but engine being in perfect tune up state, will come to life. Horns are good reflectors of battery state. Little here and there in voltage and they will sound differently. What renny did by tunning is making horns to run on lower voltage. In your case also, if you do the same, problem will be solved. If teh horns are set for lower voltage, they will work in same manner on higher voltage also. But, their life will reduce. I have spoiled 3 sets of horns on my fiat and 2 horns on my victor because of that. There's lot to it other than saddle....

If the starter is fine and the horns are working it's definitely not the battery. I think renny had the same problem and fixed it by setting the horn adjusters.
Set the high one first, in my case it was the culprit. The Magician"

+1 Nox, I was thinking the same. After using the starter, for sometime horn sounds odd, but regain its power within few minutes, as the engine moves.
Can you give me some idea how to fix a relay in RTR's horn crcuit.

A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.
Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

on the silencer side, ring and pinky went through with some effortIf you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough - Albert Einstein
I think i know less than what you think i know.

Though i set it, i never knew i'am making them run on lower voltage, that was news and a good one...i'll revert them back to the original setting now (i counted the rotations of setting)Originally posted by nox2505 View PostWhat renny did by tunning is making horns to run on lower voltage. thanks for the info bro..
As NOX suggested, setting the horns will eat them up, so stay away from it.Originally posted by kauria View PostRenny I don’t think i need to play with the horn settings. Tell my why then it’s OK, when no indicator or starter is used. It does happen only after using starter & S indicator, single & Both at a time.

hi friends i am posting this query on behalf my friend.
his mind is very much inclined towards apache among all the bikes present in the market at the moment.
but his confusion is to select which one i.e he is confused between 160,160fi and 180.?
he is a daily commuter and will use the bike daily for minimum 70-75kms and even more. among which 25-30 kms will be highway.
as u all own this bike and know about its relaiability and milage and maintenence etc etc please provide an input by suggesting which one to go for.. and please if possible kindly let me know the pros and cons of all the 3 models and also the milage.
thanks in advance

Wiring for horn relay
I am currently running the 3A Hella horns, good enough to deafen idiot truck drivers
I used IGN +ve from one horn to run horn relay and IGN +ve from another to drive headlamp switch(ultimately headlamp relay, which is on -ve circuit of lamp. Lamp is -ve controlled i.e. reverse current flow in bulb than stock wiring which results in brighter beam).
Orange wire to horn is IGN +ve and green is -ve via horn switch in case of any TVS vehicle(atleast scooty, victor and RTR).
As there was no other nice palce to mount the horn relay, I have mounted it under the seat, where ECU is fitted in Fi RTR. RTR-fi owners can mount it under fuel tank, where SAI solenoid is mounted (take care that any wire do not touch the engine head).
Benefits:
1. Power supply to horns without any losses.
2. Longer Life of Horns, switches and IGN switch also.
3. Heavy current flow is transfered to thicker wires from stock company wires.
here are the photos and wiring diagram for relay.Last edited by nox2505; 06-05-2010, 10:22 AM.There's lot to it other than saddle....

Vibrations are integral part of the Apaches. Yes, we all(RTR 160, FI and 180 riders) face the same. Learn to live it.Originally posted by TusharMoily View PostHey guys, i'm Tushar Moily. I own a rtr 160 carburetor model.
