    Buying Apache HE.

    Hi All,

    I am following this forum for last few months..u guys r really helpful. It seems like u eat Apache, drink Apache & sleep Apache. I am going to get one for my own this month. I hav considered to buy Apache HE, Matt Grey, Rear Disk version.Got mixed comments on this baby. I really don't care.

    After all, LOVE IS BLIND.

      Wasn't that Apache RTR 160 Refresh .. Anyway, They really should stop with the new names, for small changes, feels like in the 90's when Bajaj named every new bike differently or a different "Caliber". I mean, we have year of sale to distinguish, why do we need these different names when everything else is the same? Except for FI of course.

      @Khush Thanks mate. But this running in period is agonizing. I ran the fiero in for 1200Kms before taking it above 4.5k rpm, but this engine's just crying out to go faster.

      Funny thing though is I'm not even a really zippy rider, rarely do I go above 70 inside the city, average speed is 40/50 (Actually in Bangalore traffic, average speed is 10)

      @flyingJian @lijok Always a good idea to carry extra oil on long rides. One forum I visted, also suggested extra brake pads and spark plugs! Little extreme maybe.

            Travel daily through that dairy circle horrible traffic engine will get heated up and performance will drop doesnt feel like an RTR if you ride in traffic in 1st gear for atleast 20 min

              Nice ! actually i was looking for another color grey like those of FI its discontinued now , so settled for yellow it highlights the racing stripe on it

                Hi Sunny,

                I know dat already. I rode both of RTR 160 & 180. It's really a thrill to ride Apache. it could be better if Apache 160 came in White. unfortunately it dosen't.. Ok, no issue, Matt Grey also no bad.

                    run in period is imp...specially 1st 500 kms...respec tat..u need not only go 2 top speed to njoy!! u will njoy even at 60-65 tats NF
                    i would suggest listen to d RTR music n njoy n FEEL itfor 1st 500 kms...Its gr8 to know u r not takin it above 5k rpm
                    u respect the bike,,,it treas u like a king...also ur relation will last long
                    " handle the bike in a soft way, if you rev it hard to reach the red line in the run in period it makes more metal to metal contact resulting more wear and tear thus it spoils the engine performance over quick period of time. So proper break in provides longer engine life."
                    its not like at 499 or 999kms..evrythin will settle still u hv to show lil more love
                    (FYI i touched 117 kms at 950km on odo, but that was a hi way...der was no way i cud stop myself...1s a while u hv 2 listen to ADrenaline rush also!!!!)
                    Lastly drive carefully

                      LOL, I knowKhush... as in, I understand... Like I said, I ran in the Fiero for 1200kms, and in my first post I mention. After 7 years, the old bird was good enough to cross 110 on the speedo (My guess is 95+ realistically) and, I used to get 50+ kmpl very regularly. So I firmly agree with you on the respect bit.

                      And I'm following the same process with the Apache too, except I just feel it's a lot harder with this great sound humming through the body. Infact, I read all the older posts about revving straight up to 8k rpm or 11k rpm, and I know probably that the bike can handle that. But it still worries the hell outta me! I'm always pointing to bikers on the road revving it up and I say, "Man that bike is crying for help" :P

                      Anyone here use Spine protectors? I'm planning on getting one, maybe from Cramster to begin with, but I get the feeling they're designed more for cruiser riding than with street/racing styled bikes. I'd really like some opinions on this, because I'll be taking my camera and going off to weird places to shoot, and I can see that my back may not completely like it.

                        As PSR said, If you have run the bike without oil, do check the crankshaft bearings for sure.

                        As both of you have bikes under warranty, get it done from SVC under warranty. If they are not ready for that, talk to area service manager regarding this.
                        Bothers nobody is listening for a full diagonosis for the bike and they are keep cramming the same stuff that they will change any part on later stage if they find any.
                        Even the area service manager is ignoring the issue.
                        Now i am able to feel the pity situation other guys faces with the SVC.

                        Decide to write a mail to all the TVS big shots so please kindly help me with all the possible emails id you all have so that they can learn a lesson from this.

                            Ya Dibs, White really stunned me..... I even enquired with the show room people, if i can pre order a RTR 160 in WHITE, they replied in negative. Though i had my doubts in maintaining d white color in our cities........ Having known abt my gr8 track record in keepin my bike clean.. i went ahead with MATTE GREY...
