Hey guys, what mileage can one expect from an RTR160(a good one without any problems) if ridden with a pillion with the total weight of rider and pillion being 130 KG and all gears shifted around 6-7k on a highway(with pretty high traffic) and ridden in the speed range of 70-100?

I would say max 45kmpl, if you are lucky.Originally posted by pcgamer View PostHey guys, what mileage can one expect from an RTR160(a good one without any problems) if ridden with a pillion with the total weight of rider and pillion being 130 KG and all gears shifted around 6-7k on a highway(with pretty high traffic) and ridden in the speed range of 70-100?
Don't expect much mileage when you are shifting gears at 6-7k, with a pillion rider in a heavy traffic situation if you are shifting gears every now & then.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

First of all sorry for not using Multi-quote as I didn't see this post before.Originally posted by iChaitanya View PostAre these 35W or 55W? Any idea how much will it cost?
Both 35w & 55w are available. For using 35W you don't need to change to complete DC, means you can use the stock setup itself. But 35w wont give much effect. Btw 55w one's will give good light intensity and good for highway riding. But you need to change to complete DC for making use of them.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just checked my FI's fuel consumption for the first time in 3 1/2 years. I would never remember to note the fuel quantity or the trip meter reading or something or the other. This time i made a real effort to do so. I was expecting 30-35, since i'm always ripping the bike to 8-9k rpms. First check i filled about 100 bucks worth of extra premium and got about 50. I was very skeptical and did it again, got 52. Next was a 300km test which included a return trip to lonavla of 180km. filled 100 bucks premium and 300 regular. Got 53.
I FCUKING LOVE MY BIKE !!!
p.s. the lonavla trip was with a pillion, total payload would be ~120kg.
p.p.s. my rd would give me avg. 17, best 27 and worst 9kmpl. Boxer 73 best and 37 worst...Last edited by julianpaul; 05-11-2012, 04:11 PM.

I've got HyperEdge, and completed around 1000km on ODO, and i ride with sometimes with Pillon in Average traffic and change gears around 3.5 or 4 rpm(max. i rep till 6rpm in 5th gear)...
But i'm constantly getting constant Mileage around 42
...
I've told SVC guys during 2'nd service , but they told me it will Improve Eventually (after 2k km)...
Is it True...
???

Yes, but not by much. Maybe 5kmpl. Maybe more if the carb is set excessively rich now for some reason known only to the genius mechs.Originally posted by aniket4848 View PostI've told SVC guys during 2'nd service , but they told me it will Improve Eventually (after 2k km)...

Whats the mileage if ridden at 4k rpm ?Originally posted by julianpaul View PostI just checked my FI's fuel consumption for the first time in 3 1/2 years. Got 53.
only 1k kms is clocked. Do some more trips let it settle down. If its well maintained it will return ~48 for normal built people.Originally posted by aniket4848 View PostI've got HyperEdge, and change gears around 3.5 or 4 rpm. But i'm constantly getting constant Mileage around 42

BTW I just checked mine , had filled up 10ltr 2 weeks back and trip meter now reads 453KM
Avg speed will be 65kmph.
Hope I get till 500

Lol, wtf would I (or anyone for that matter) ride the rtr at 4k rpm?
It's called rtr for a reason, and NOT because it's a commuter.
Anyway to answer your question, I guess at constant 4k rpm it should give between 55-60. One factor to consider is that since it's an Fi, the fueling will be precise with less wastage under low-load conditions.
The slowest i've ridden/cruised is at 5k rpm, and that may be for 10 mins max. Beyond that my back starts to hurt. I may be wrong about this, but my theory goes like this. Above 80, the wind blast pushes against your chest, helping support your body weight, taking pressure off your wrists and back. It might sound stupid but i've noticed this whenever i've ridden slow for an extended period of time. Also between 50-60, handlebar vibes are horrible to the point that after 10 minutes, my palms are irritated to the point of itching. And we also know about the pillion footpeg vibration RPMs. What i've seen is that about 40 the bike is pretty ok, but boring as hell to ride. After that the max normal speed you can ride is at 73-74. Beyond that, the pillion footpeg issue. Till about 90-95. After that, it's pretty ok.

as the figures you posted were less for FI as some carb bikes also get ~50 (like mine :P)

Ok! So you do think that my figures are low for Fi. Probably so. Because the way i ride is pretty much always high rpm. See my boxer figures in the earlier posts lol. So you're probably right that Fi can give even more if ridden sedately. But where's the fun in thatOriginally posted by kantu View PostWas curious to know this

Guyz let me clear your doubts about it. i have RTR 160 yellow 2009 and 2 days back bought 180 2012 white as well. And let me tell you pics dont do justice. 160's dual tone paint scheme takes some time for eyes but 180 in plain colors look good. i hated and cursed TVS for this design after seeing spy pics. But after being inperson with it two days back i can say its like a good looking guy not able to pose well :-) . Will post some pics and a ride report soon. Today took both my bikes for a trip with the help of a friend. Though Headlight could have been done better.Originally posted by venu323 View Postbut some people after seeing it in person says it looks way better than from photos

Wow. FI's great.Originally posted by julianpaul View Post55kmpl easily.
Thanks. During the highway ride that I mentioned in my previous post, I had filled it up with 5.5L and got around 210km. That was very poor mileage, about 38.2. I don't know why but I always get poor mileage with IOC. Well, in that 210km , about 70km was in highway, the rest was in city traffic.Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostI would say max 45kmpl, if you are lucky.

After that, I had filled 2.75L at a BP outlet. I hit reserve today. It was ridden completely in moderate-high city traffic. I got about 116.5km. About 20km of it was with a pillion. Gears shifts were between 5k-7k with pretty rapid acceleration. The mileage is about 42.3km/l. I'll fill it up with 50Rs worth of petrol and test it by not crossing 4k at all. My AF screw is set around 5.5 revolutions from lean. That may be the reason for the poor mileage. The ODO is at 4.7k

That's pretty strange because my mileage figures are with IOC. I've always used IOC premium since i got the bike because the additives keep the injector clean.
Maybe I should check my mileage with BP and see...
Btw, the lesser the amount of fuel you use to test, the more inaccurate the result. fill atleast 100 bucks when testing. Long back i had filled 10 bucks and got 80kmpl average on my boxer lol.
