  • Hi guys, logged in after a long time... got my RTR FI serviced on 29-June. And this time, it cost me more than getting my car serviced...
    Details of parts changed:
    Parts Cost
    Filter comp engine oil 35
    HUB Clutch sleeve 315
    Oil Seal 12x18x4 23
Plate clutch drive set - RTR 745
Plate clutch driven set 4 - RTR 152
    Disc Clutch pressure 139
Kit pad assy - Front Disc 250
    Starter relay 654
    Tru spray chain -100ml 33
Kit HUB clutch - impro. Gear shift 417
    TVS TRU4 Premium 10w30 engine oil 269

    Labour
    General service 344
    Clutch Overhaul 137
    External labour(clutch rubbering) 160

    Total cost came upto Rs3660

    My issues were:
    1. Starting problem
    2. Hard gearing - I already had a Clutch overhaul done about 6 months earlier and have been using Motul 300v and then Motul 7100 synthetic lubes.
Rest were the usual misfiring, chain sound.

          • Low mileage

            Hey guys,
            I have a carb RTR 160 (2008), ridden about 30k now
The problem is its giving me bad mileage,
            getting around 35kmpl only
The performance is as good as ever.
The clutch plate needs replacing, but i have been putting it away for a loong time, how much of a difference can it make in the mileage?
My riding style is not for Mileage, but still from what i see in the forum 35kmpl, is on the low side!

And its time for engine oil change, Which one suggested?
How can a semi synth oil help me if i put it?
and which one is recommended? I am at pune, so Shell is not so difficult to procure but the rates matter, dont want a very deep hole in my pocket!
            TIA

The clutch can affect your performance and mileage in a significant way. Maybe you're facing the problem of clutch slipping. Just google it you'll understand.

I will definitely suggest the Shell Advance AX-7 semi synth. The cost is Rs.330/- in Hyderabad. So it won't put a hole in your pocket.

Semi synth oils are a compromise on full synth oils but definitely more advanced than ordinary mineral oils. Semi synth oils are better at heat management and provide a much smoother performance.

Better post it in the RTR 180 ownership page. I too have no idea about it.

                      • Tyre dealer in Bangalore

                        Hi Guys,

New to the city, need to change boots for my baby (RTR 160 FI) 30K on odo still on stocks, please suggest reliable dealers.Planning for Zapper FS 90/90-17 (Front) and Zapper Q 110/90-18 (rear).
However there is one confusion, please excuse my ignorance on the matter , the front and rear tyre dia is 17, whereas someone few posts back suggests the above mentioned size (110/90-18) for rear. ?

Apart from this, have enquired about the pricing at Tyre World (Opp. Shell Bunk), on Varthur Road, Whitefield, the owner quoted Zapper FS - 2000 and Zapper Q - 2800. Your valuable pointers on the prices quoted.

                        Thanks..

Not sure about FI but hyper Edge and classic RTR 160s have 18 for rear.
I am using both the tires you mentioned, trust me they are great. But i got a different quote for them 1.8k and 2.5k from MRF Dealer, JC Road

@Kantu, thanks man. My bad about that, front is 17 and rear 18. i will check with JC road dealers. I heard there few dealers on JC road and Lalbagh road? Any personal encounters with few of them? Hows the grip of Tires on Dry and Wet conditions.

And looking for rear disc petal change (with pads), any good mechs around whitefield? Or should stick to SVC.

Grip is way better than stock tires. I bought mine at MRF dealer, JC Road itself few months back.

Not sure about whitefield I stay in south blore.
