Both the classic design and the new design RTR160s are coming with tubeless 90/90-17 and 110/80-17.(Same as RTR180)

^^Lazy TVS people haven't updated their site yet about the white color...

The white color doesn't look great as the RTR 180, but it looks much better than Black on Yellow and Black on Red. Also can you post me the APACHE RTR 160 Black color.

I don't have the pics of any other color but from the brochure(brochure with friend, will try to take a snap from it and post it once i get hold of it) its clear that even the tank will be red/yellow/grey instead of the black color in previous editions with the black strip on the cowl remaining the same.
In short red/yellow/grey apache will have red/yellow/grey color in areas which are white, with design being identical.
Black apache 160 will have a black body with the design in grey color.

IMHO, the tank scoops on this new desing is too big and out of proportion with the tank Nothing can beat the old RTR design

I didn't knew that old designed bikes would come in tubeless tires. Interesting!

Damn, that looks bad in white..180 luks somewhat more proportionate owing to the longer wheelbase!!

I have a Black on Grey colour Apache 160 2013 model. This Grey colour looks so good than mine. I am thinking how a red or a Black would look...

                  • Need help. New apache rtr 160 giving trouble. SVC not doing a good job.

I bought a new tvs apache rtr 160 model from saibaba sales pvt. Ltd, sr no. 19/2, wakad-hinjewadi main road, pune on 18/09/2013. The vehicle is giving me problems form day one. The initial model that I got was making a squeaking sound so they replaced it with a new model. The new model had the same problem so they oiled and lubed everything and the problem was solved. During first service I told the svc guys about engine noise but they did not give any heed to it. Later when the noise became prominent I took the bike to the svc again and this time they agreed to fix it. They took the bike under engine noise problem. When I came to get back my bike they said that a nut was loose in the engine. They also said that they had to change the engine oil which was absurd as I had my engine oil changed 10 days ago during my first servicing. I had also put an addative in the engine oil at that time. They were charging me for the engine oil again which was absued. I refused to pay. Anyway they said that the engine noise issue has been sorted out so they asked me to test ride the bike. After the test ride I found the same noise again. This shows how incompetent and sleazy the svc guys are. This is a new bike. Hardly a month old and I am having engine noise issues and now the petrol tank makes a noise while going over bumps. I also noticed some smoke coming out of engine when I started my bike in the morning(Cold start). Is it the exhaust gas leaking from the engine? The SVC guys said that it is just grease on the engine that is causing the smoke. I find that absurd because how can grease evaporate and cause smoke when I cold start the engine. I am pretty sure it has to be exhaust gases leaking from the engine as the SVC guys didn't do a good job of assembling the engine back after they opened it.
Experts please help. This is my firt bike and I am having such a horrible experience with it. Had enough of the SVC mechs. Can any one suggest a good apache mechanic in Pune who can solve my issues.

Complain it to SVC. Go to the tvs website, and use the contact us page. They will surely call you, tell your problems.

                        • Apache RTR 160 Engine Oil change and recommendations

I have my 2 year old Apache RTR 160 due for a service in 10-12 days. She has done 6300kms approx and might touch 6400-6500km mark when i take it for the servcie.

I am wondering if this is right time to switch to synthetic engine oil, I live in Delhi, cold temperatures have started.

Also, since it is mainly used for college commute, she goes 90-100 for 4-6 kms continuously(sometimes with a pillion) in the morning mostly 8:15 to 8:45 depending on what time i leave from home, so what kind of engine oil should i get?

till now the default 10W30 (i guess) mineral oil is being filled by the SVC.
Does synthetic reduce vibrations? <- Big concern

If you guys think i should switch to synthetic then please suggest some particular brands, names, rating and where to buy them in West Delhi without any concerns of it being originial.
                          Thank you.

                            Go for Shell AX7 10w40 semi-synthetic.
Its much much better than TVS oil.
You can feel the difference after some 20 odd kilometers after the change. Vibes reduced, much smoother gear shifts. Drain period is between 2000~2500km. After that also you can use but then it will loose its viscosity and act like normal mineral oil.
Also make sure you change oil filter while doing this. Thats very very important as you are changing from mineral oil to semi-synthetic.
I suggest dont go for fully synthetic as you are less than 10k in odo.
Some people have reported drastic level drop when running in fully synthetic oil.
Also some leakage issues have also been reported as the engine gum bondage depletes easily on use of fully synthetic oil.
                            ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, thank you for you suggestion! I'll go with this and report back my observations. Vibes really irritate me when the bike is near a service. Hope this oil will keep that in check for longer tha SVC oil.

Im keen to give my rtr160 a new look, its 2010 made and runned ovr 30k. So could you guys please share some opinion how to get a better look for the beast. Im thinking options like-
                                1) removing rear fender flap
2)changing the stock headlight to HID with a round frame
3)putting in new tank scoops nd engine cowl like the new ones have
                                4) adjusting the rear shock absorber to the upper notch(as mentioned in the manual)....etc
Please suggest me more options as im not so techy in mod department
And put some light how much will it cost.
                                Thank you ride safely
