abt ur FI plans.......i suggest you to buy the bike only after testriding it! U wont regret buying a RTR-FI
True, very true. That's why I like this thread more than any other ownership thread.

I did have a test ride and I liked the bike .. but those test rides do not give information which is available on this thread . I liked that bike for the great control, its sound, its looks specially after sitting on it(because it's console panel and clip ons are the best you can see when sitting on an Indian bike), and last power that to delivered smoother than say non-fi RTR. But after seeing all the problems you guys are facing, I am getting more and more inclined towards no brainer Honda Unicorn .

Dude, TVS R&D is working on the bike for sure. They are ironing out a few niggles. Most owners in this thread are the first batch owners. So we do find some issues. Why dont you wait for another month? the TVS would have smoothened out most of the niggles. (insider info)

        • Any new technology takes time to stabilise man. Look at the 220. It had no less issues when it was launched. Now almost all issues are ironed out. Same case here. m sure TVS will iron these issues in another 4 - 6 months. If u can put up with that, fine. Else please dont or u will not "enjoy" the hassles associated!

I have no clue on how it happened...

Infact the rear panel issue was also a weird one for me.... it should be some freak pothole thingy!

For the panels I was quoted 650 each! Guys any idea...!
am not sure abt the warrenty thing......but going by the logic's og warenty.....this should be a wear and tear thingy........even though it gave way long before it should......so they have to consider this......just have a word wth some other svc and see.

Abt the rear panel........even if u hit a pot hole how could it break? or were u using saddle bag or did u put any pressure on the panels?

i was quoted 450rs per panel here in hyd......mine is a black RTR......hope ur's is same too.

            @jam92

am sure u wont get the rear sprocket alone outside......u would have to buy them as a set and u know abt TVS spare prices......RTR chain sprocket kit costa around 900-1200

will the existing owner benefit from that? meaning, will fix the bugs in bikes already sold?

U will get them separately outside. I got the Fiero rear sprocket alone from Rolon outside for 250 or 300 bucks and used it on my Pulsar. Search properly! And with a fatter rear comes all the hassles of reduced pickup, mileage, increased weight and so on. I for one would not use it. It might also upset the ideal balance and wonderful handling this machine has!

                  • Did a 650 km round trip to Orissa on 31.01.09 & 01.02.09 with two of my friends. Both the RTR performed superb, no problem as such, apart from the tappet noise at 4000 – 4500 RPM range. Get an approx 45 kmpl of mileage after doing constant 75 – 80 kmph crushing. Also felt the headlight is superb for night riding, check this when returning at night.

                    The route was like that:
                    Kolkata – Kolaghat – Kharagpur – Lodhasuli – Baharora – Jamsola – Bangriposi – Baripoda - Rohini – Balasore – Chandipur – Jaleswar – Kharagpur – Kolaghat – Kolkata

I asked them of the warranty, they say its natural wear and tear and hence I have to borne it!

I dont use any saddle bags, and am absolutely clueless on why it would break !

besides my bike is on the verge of dying suddenly.. full throttle, 4/5th gear.. 40kmph max

A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

Depends.... U sure can expect a minor difference of around 1 - 2 kmpl. A taller gearing will enhance mileage, but it will be effectively ruined as u will be trying to keep the engine on boil forever. A shorter gearing will obviously reduce mileage. I think my explanation is right. Experts, please clarify.

                              • Sproketting is the most basic mod that one can do to a motorcycle to enhance the performance to the desired levels. The impact on mileage and performance is dependant on what gearing you choose. It can improve or go down. Its bike specific again.
