        Sigh... have said this times before - No, its not like they dont exist. But have you see a single oil company mentioning the percentage of synthetic component? Of what kind of synthetic base oil they use?? No they dont! So the joke is, even if they put in 1 drop, any oil can qualify as semi-synthetic! Actually wait, they dont even need that 1 drop - just the additives are enough to make the oil qualify, as they are synthetic!

        I'm not saying that semi-synth dosent exisit or it dosent matter. It might! But its a grey area... and its so grey that you shouldn't base your buying decision just because of the fact that there is a semi-synth label on the bottle!!

          But what my experience says is, that Semi synths were defiinitely better than Mineral ones (I am not talking about P1 here, mind u, but VP4T,Veedol,etc.) atleast for me .

          Going by your logic, how will u make out that the Fully Synthetic Oil which u buy paying much more is truly synthetic? Even that can contain a drop of , errrrr, forget it

            Well, if they are really good, its good! You can use them!! Just don't use/buy or think that they are better just because it says semi-synth!

            As for your doubt about fully synth, it is actually justified! Now hydro-cracked oils can also be called fully synthetic. Legally they can be called thus... but technically they are not synthetic!

            Now see the fun - companies are now labelling these pseudo synthetics as fully synthetic oils. Just as an eg. BPCL says its HH oil is hydro-cracked! So it can be labelled as fully-synth, legally. But it is not. And what is funnier is that many people are saying that the BPCL HH oil is the worst HH oil available.

            Strange, funny and not at all straight forward, eh? Thats the oil business... damn gooey stuff. And there is lots more from where it came from...

                  @renny: regarding vibes in rtr, motul was better in reducing it. p1 racing is however way better than mineral oil!
                  A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

                  Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

                    Which Motul? Did u mean 5100, i think its 15w50, where the manual says 20w40, what u say?

                    Once I have tried it, but it didnt last more then 3000 km, at the end the clutch was doing bit problem, but when next day I switch to ELF its again ok.

                        Which bike kauria? the apache or the rtr? Motul3 00V lasted perfectly for over 5k kms on my Apache. It would have lasted more had i not been impatient and unsure

                              Its has again come down.... got a 300v 15w50 bottle yesterday for 680rs...
                              and 5100 15W50 semi-synthetic is 380rs... its almost same (as 300v-if not better) ... but the drain interval should be around 3k AFAIK.

                                I have a RTR 2008 Feb model without tank scoop & full chain cover.I personlly found ELF MOTO4 GOLD is better then Motul 5100 & Gulf Pride 4t. Never try VP4T or 300v.
                                Any other good oil u have in ur list.
