  • For all u guys trying to get the sprocket seperately, forget it! No, its not available at Yamaha showrooms directly. U need contacts of a "different" kind to get it.

Yes its a direct fit, although u will also have to use the same R15 flange as the RTR flange will not set. The acceleration time has obviously gone for a toss as the gearing is tall!

    And yes,
1 tooth reduction in front = 2-3 teeth addition at rear = shorter gearing
1 tooth addition in front = 2 - 3 teeth reduction at rear = longer gearing.

Now, no more wheelies in first gear!

@Julian : The altitude stuff, temperature etc matter a lot IMHO mate. Cud be due to these differences between Chennai and Bangalore. And yes, up a slope or riding pillion obviously requires shifting down at times. Now, I can do it better as I have a taller gearing to play with!

@Renny: Lets see man!! That anyways requires a REALLY long stretch!

hmm, i don't seem to have any of the common fi issues like missing etc. but power wheelies in 1st ??!! no way it's that powerful. now i'm getting slightly worried. u done any other mods on your fi? i'm guessing no. and i'm in bombay. pretty much close to sea level like chennai. and temps are slightly lower i think.

TIme for me to get hold of KP

But i thought they are selling the sprockets and the chain seperatly.....coz they give qoutes for each of them when we ask for the kits price.

          @renny

I think now he can go abv 140 on the speedo......but that would require a very very long distance and other factors should be favourable too!

Heck its been almost 7 months since ive seen 130 mark on my bike

          • I do 85kmph(speedo) on victor with pillion(both weighing 70+kgs). I don't think there would be much prob with RTR by putting in 14T front sprocket. And 0-60, quarter mile racing is not my daily job.

                • Today I was with my mechanic in the morning, changing the engine oil, tuning & cleaning the carb etc, Previously when he tuned my bike it was giving approx 44 kmpl with the stock plug, now I have install the NGK Iridium IX and the kmpl came to 37 (tank full-> ride 200 km -> tank full) almost. He told me to stick to the stock plug as it has better heat range. He guessed that my air screw is moving automatically due to vibes and thus the economy effect. But I found its beat sticky, though I have marked the position, let see another 200 km. Any idea?

Secondly he show me HID setup which as per him is compatible with my RTR, it’s a bi xenon type (55 halogen/35 watt HID). He told me that this setup will draw less juice from battery because it will also connect to the magneto. He shows me the different cable for magneto and battery. The ballast is kind of huge and totally waterproof. My question is it worth switching to HID over stock setup? Need some better light as my 55 setup is not giving enough light and heating the magneto part of the engine. What you say guys?
HID is always thumbs up man, But will pay value for money invested if night riding is high. I am using 55/60 philips headlamp. The bringhtness is much more than other lamps, and I am satisfied with it. I have not faced prob of magneto heating up. I am driving headlamp relay directly on magneto and lamp on battery. No broblem of battery discharge as all other lamps except headlamp are running on magneto.

Try philips headlamp and as u expalined on your blog, remove 3 point toggle switch, connect original wiring, connect headlamp wires to relay drive coil and direct battery supply for head lamp.

And regarding efficiency, my RTR is giving me 53kmpl on mixed riding conditions. I am using stock sparkplug and single outer air filter ( i clean it every 500kms).

on top of that they focus it on the us more than the road ..feels like show off

millege well if i ride below 40kmph and change gear below 2.5k
                      my RTR gives 67kmpl

but mostly it gives me 40 so you can imagine how i ride

                      • Guys, I've been noticing this for a while now. Whenever a pothole is encountered, even a moderately small one, there's a "thud" sound somewhere from the back of the bike. Where is this sound coming from? Does something need adjusting?

Is it from upper side? may be tool kit or loose koul or tail lamp assembly.

                          • @All: Did a 30 km up-down in city traffic, two up. Both of us weighing 70+. I don't find any issues at all. Just too good. Its more usable now in the first 2 gears and feels better thru'out the rev-range. And overtaking is possible till 4th gear without down-shifting inside city. Sudden whack of throttle from 3rd gear when ur doing some ~40 brings out the knocking sound till it hits the power band. Other than that, its perfectly fine. Kinda felt at home!
                            My verdict: Thumbs up!!

@Kauria: I had the same setup man!! U know what happened!

@Satish: Last I checked at the Yam ASC, they were selling it as a kit only man. Worth a try, check it out!

Definitely not the tool kit because I haven't kept it in there.. The sound is as if two metal objects are banging... so probably not the tail assembly either. Gotta get it to the SVC after exams next week!
