    • Done. my Fi is back

      Hi All,
I'm Here with the update on my bike. As promised TVS called on friday and informed me to hand over my bike at office. as it was christms weekend off they came to my residence and gave my bike. I will briefly mention the problem and the action taken by TVS.

      1) Back disc not working.
[TVS- Calipers were worn out. When asked how come the bike calipers worn out they said it gets worn out in 10k kms. but mine is a exceptional case. They changed the calipers] - Problem solved.

      2) Mis-firing and Bike switching off frequently in signals and speed breakers.
[TVS- The wire connecting to spark plug was faulty. it was a local part and not geniune part. TVS asked whether this bike was given to some local mechanics. I denied and confirmed it was always taken to TVS Authorised service center. TVS confirmed the part was replaced by local part. original part is back in bike. No mis firing no swtiching off.]

      3) Meter not working and incorrect meter reading.
[TVS- due to some electrical failure the meter was going blank with incorrect reading and showing incorrect reading including speed. changed the digital meter console.]

      4) mileage was very less (30 to 35kms)
[TVS- confirmed the problem and related it to cable part mentioned above. and said to have correct the problem. Need to check. Apart from this they also mentioned there was large amount of carbon accumlated in silencer. They confirmed due to poor fuel quality and since bike was running rich the unburnt fuel had been collected. they claim to have removed the carbon and advised to change my petrol station to fill petrol. Acknowledged from my side. im changing my Petrol bunk from indian oil. Will try BP or HP or Shell.]

5). Huge amount of vibration. Not normal for Fi
[ TVS- confirmed the problem. And they gave lot of reason which i honestly do not remember. but one point they mentioned was since i had removed the mirrors from the bike, These mirrors apart from rear view also acts as dampers for the handle to reduce or stop vibrations it seems. Couldnt digest this part of explanation. I did test with mirrors for one day and compared by removing the mirror and using it for one day. Infact with mirrors the vibrations from handle reduced 80%. so decided to keep mirrors

      6) Bike inclined towords right side
[TVS- the split handle bars were mis aligned. i mean in left side it was little outside compared to right one. adjusted.

      7) too hard to engage the gears while downshifting.
[TVS- tey too found the gears are too hard to shift. But i use to face this problem regularly but they have faced this problem intermittently while testing the bike on tracks. they have changed clutch plates as precaution. now gears are smooth as new.

      8) not an issue but still Apache RTR Fi logo on handle.
[TVS - showroom guys had changed my Fi logo. it was RTR160 right from the beginning. Now TVS has replced it with RTR 160 FI logo black in colour.

At the end all the problems were solved and conclusion report i had received was there were some local parts in my bike and some mechanical problems.

At the end i received the bike the way it should be. I'm happy with all the explanation and end of the day i'm happy to ride my RTR Fi. I felt this bike was brand new and was registered only on firday

I would like to thank each and every one here in x-bhp for huge support without which my would have been lying in one corner whitout of much help from service guys. thanks once again.

Need to call TVS vice president to update how the vehicle is performing.

      Cheers. Happy n safe riding.

      thanks

But I wish they will support us like this always and will give us some liter class bikes when we will be able to afford those.

                Thanks sarvajit,

Here the main concern from TVS was that i was able to contact them. but what to others who cannot contact and live with the problems. they want to check how the quality of service is. there words are very promising. Hope this customer service is provided with A.S.S. and these higher up can concerntrate on giving us great products rather breaking there minds on sloppy service.

But here let me say few things on RTR180 spare bike they had given me. believe me or not i felt 180 is more refined than 160 Fi. i had lot more confidence in 180 i corners and at high speed, the bike has lot of potential and believe the vibration level is very very less in 180. I would like to change my bike to 180 if given a chance at slight premium.

Anyways i have plans of using Fi for another year or two and check more than 200 cc bike that TVS will be releasing in next few years,, i wish this christmas and new yr my wish come true and we consumers get more than 200cc bike from TVS,

Yes I agree. Companies should not be judged on the basis of one or two shoddy Service Centers.
180 is more powerful&refined than the 160, what I liked was I didn't feel it was a bigger bike-it was as easy or easier to handle, thanks to the slightly fatter rubber at the rear and the changes in the swingarm. However, when I looked down at the tacho, I was surprised to find it doing the same speeds at about 1-1.5K RPM than the 160! This difference will be profound on the highway. Really wanna ride a 180 on the highway to know. I'm expecting RTR 200 in Auto Expo, lets wait&watch!
I am also a happy TVS customer since almost 6 years&was all set to replace my Fiero F2 with a 160 Fi titanium grey, but fate had something else in store from me, from the Yamaha stable. And, the TVS bike is still with me.
I have been very happy with the service provided by them&having a good rapport with an official or two always helps! My bike's misfiring problem was solved in the same way though I didn't have to complain through mail-the company official was present in the SVC itself. They replaced the entire SAI (Secondary Air Injection) unit long long back under warranty&the bike has never misfired ever since.
                  All the best.

                      • Now an interesting problem has cropped up with my bike: The throttle is sticking in 1st gear. For example, if i hold the clutch in, it revs up by itself to 3k and it stays there unless i wring the accelator once and then it will come down. Any reasons as to why this is happening?

                          • I gave my bike for third free service. last sat , they took two days for delivering my bike . When i went there to take my bike on sunday evening i was shocked to see that when i twist the throttle the rpm went till 8k and it stayed put there.THe mechanic took the bike in came back after 25 mins and said the acceleration cable is gone. and he cant replace it now as it was already 7pm.so i had to go the next day again. I got real pissed off because. After servicing they havent even test drove the bike. then i called the service manager - tvs , he promised me that need ful would be done.later the next day the bike was delivered to my home ..Later yest i had a prob. the battery low light started to glow and horn wasnt working either. i got bit shocked as it is just a week from 3rd service. When i reached home i removed the side panel . I found the coupling near the regenerative setup removed. It meant my battery hadnt recharged when i rode the bike so the battery lost the power. and it was real bad to see the fuses hanging just like that.those morons havent even put it back into the slots provided.. So i connected the coupling and then rode the bike for some 30 kms . now the battery is fine.

black smoke indicates burning of oil aong with the air/fuel mixture, your piston rings are fried, and it's more likely that the person who did the job 4K back has not done it properly.
