but what happens to the extra 10k that we FI owners shell out?

even the p200 gives an avg of >40kmpl that too with a higher cc engine and no Fi.
so compared to that a lower cc engine with Fi must show better avg figures. So IMO, paying 10k extra just to get a few additional units of power isn't VFM.

my Fi used to deliver ~50kmpl when i bought it....slowly and steadily it came down and now it lingers around 43

That happens mainly cuz of the badly aligned chain, can be cuz of the dirt and debris trapped at the rollers too.
Fitting the sproaket in reverse it's not recommended.

P200 gives 40kmpl with sane riding, read what i said in my last post driving at moderate throttle inputs and below 4500RPM riding will award you with 60-65kmpl.

But still on overall front expect FI to deliever you 38-40kmpl.

And that extra 10 grand are not only for efficiency...they're for electric throttle responce, eargasmic exhaust note, crisp power delievery, that blue console light too.......

          • SVC update: Day 2

So yesterday the svc manager told me to come today 9:30 sharp. I was there before they opened the svc, first bike in, made the job card explained everything, left. Had bfast at uncle's place and went back at 11:30. The hadn't touched the bike. Were working on a pending bike from yest, wiring. Come 1:30 i started getting pissed, on a whim called justdial and asked for TVS ASCs in chembur. Got one called Amma motors. Explained the bike's issues. Here's a list of costs they mentioned.

            Paid service
            Kapoor tvs, vashi 275
            Amma motors, chembur 175

Labour for fork oil/seal change and cone set work
Kapoor tvs, vashi 250 then negotiated to 200
            Amma motors, chembur 150

I confirmed that they had parts, then went to the manager and said cancel the job card, how are you gonna fix all the issues in the 4 hours post the lunch break till 2pm. Took my coupon back. Called the western region svc head and told him what happened, he apologized a lot and said go ahead with amma motors, contact avinash there and say i sent you. Fixed an appointment for tomorrow, told em i'll stay the day and take the bike back in the eve. Hope i can finally service the damn bike on day 3!

Oh, btw, since i wasn't able to do the service today, i went to the seat guy, who's a friend of my mech friend. Now he's my friend too Friendly world we live in. anyway, the seat had tiny holes through which rain water would soak the foam and then wet my pants when i sat on it. looked like i loose shat my pants everytime i rode Since i was changing the seat cover anyway and i had this plan for making a split seat, i asked him about it. then we went to see some pulsar 200/220s but found a 135ls instead. Anyway it's done, pretty decent job, poor guy worked on it for 3 hours. The front corners of the rear seat and the rear corners of the front seat could use a little more work but i'm satisfied. Maybe next cover change i'll finish it more. No cam so no pics, will try to get someone to snap some.

I forgot to post the details, it cost me 250 which includes the foam cutting/shaping and the new rexine cover. I haven't changed anything other than the cover, using the same plate and foam. And one major problem i had with the old seat was that it was too smooth, so pillions would slide into me when i brake hard, which was all the time! The new rexine has a speckled texture which provides awesome grip.

Oh okay. In fact I'll see if I can get a step-up seat( or whatever it's called) like in the P200 etc.

I'm planning to change both tires as well. Rainy season and TVS tires DON'T like each other u know Thinking of getting Zappers (FS and Q respectively for front and rear). If I don't get Q at 100/90, even Michelin is an option. Any opinions here?
And one doubt about the tire size. Is 4.00x18 a direct fit to FI rear?

This is modeled just on the pulsar split seat design. You can't just change the rtr seat to something else. Atleast not without much difficulty. Only the stock plate will fit the locks. and only the stock foam will fit the stock plate. so whatever mods have to be done on the existing foam and plate.

The zappers are a good option. Michelin/pirelli will cost roughly double that of mrf. 4" equates to about 100mm but it's not usually a straightforward conversion with tyres. Usually a 4" tyre will be wider than a 100 section.

Here are some tyre sizes and their required rim size.

                    Tyre Rim
                    2.75" / 3" / 80mm 1.85"
                    3.25" / 90mm 2.15"
                    100 / 110 2.5"
                    120 2.75"
                    130 3"

So I think I'll have to do a lot of homework on the seat front! I think comfort is more important anyway.

I would actually like to stick with Zapper itself. Hope I find the stock size though.

How was the work on your bike done???
And have you changed the fuel filter of the bike??

And yes when you'll be clicking pics of the seat, click them in detail, like the changes done on the mountings, and if he cutted the plate or welded it so match the mountings etc...

I always make a cover of the suiting material, last time a bought "corduroy" and went to the seat mcover making guy and he made a cover out of it.
It looks good and "holds" you well too.

That's looking great! Something like this is exactly what I wanted to have
I talked to a seat maker yesterday, but he's charging 500 bucks

BTW changed both the tires yesterday.
                              Front: R15's front----1350
Rear: Zapper Q 100/90---2000 Tire prices have gone up a lot I guess!
Sold d old TVS tires for 100 bucks
After about 50-60km riding, I can only say- wow is this the same bike I was riding till yesterday! Grip, handling has improved immensely compared to the stupid TVS tires

The tires are looking superb, the R15's has resulted in more gap between the fron mudguard and the tire, (low pro).
