In case of RTR, i havent lubricated it yet. Still, the wheels are MASKA free without any lateral play.

NOTE:-Yesterday wanted to change the brake fluid. Bought castrol DOT3(250ml, Rs.80/-. DOT4 was nt available) also. But could not do that. Thanks to our SVC Rambos.

I opened the front wheel some 2 months back, and as i wasnt having grease with me i applied healthy dose of vaseline to the bearings, and some to the hub, after cleaning them properly.

Follow the same procedure as your victor but do clean them with high pressure water and grease them after the rains.

Q2: akrapovic slip-on my apache rtr 160 [2010 model]?! is it possible? Q3: NGK Iridium Spark Plug for my apche? is this increase the performance? pls guide me so

            • Lived my college days again"

After almost 8 months and 10000kms on the ODO, i decided to give myself a wheelie dose today.

It was 9AM in the morn and i went to pay the water tax, there was too much of a crowd there, and i thought to give them a little entertainment, i was not heavily geared (Helmet, boxer shorts, tee, gloves and sneekers).

I jumped on the bike started it and rolled it to 10kmph, then blipped the throttle, as sudden blipping makes RTR FI sound like it's spitting unburnt fuel and missingly growly, everyone turned, at the exact moment i let the clutch go (roughly 6000-6500) and the front was pointing sky, i heard lots of hoo haa's, i pulled it to 10000, shifted to second clutchlessly and it throwed the front in the sky again while sounding nuts at all time...

I pulled a roughly 10-20 meters of wheelie, and when the front kissed ground again, there were lots of thumbs up and smiley faces waving me back, i waved them, showed them a thumbs up, blipped it up again, and went off.

              Man, that "felt" amazing..

wud you suggest this bike for me?

i need some extra inputs from you guys so that i can decide

i don need to know about its performance

1> heard a lot about tyre skidding thing on wet roads,is this issue solvd with current model?(big issue for me)

2>what mileage fig can i expect if not rev abv 60 kmph

3>how about the engine life and quality of the bike overall.

am a unicorn fan but dazzler has disapointed me with its looks so on tat part i think RTR-160 fi wud be the VFM bike,

                • @ganiprash:

55kmpl on the highway is a good average, 40kmpl in the city with running on 2-3 gears is again good average.

If you want more then get your mixture lean by 1/4 of a turn.

AKRA's are not available for the RTR, if you want a good slip on, contact Mr. JOEL.

IRIDIUM wont increase the performance, but will you crisp throttle response at high RPM's , that's it.

yes the tires are issue, swap them with MRF's.

2>what mileage fig can i expect if not rev abv 60 kmph

                  50-55kmpl.

3>how about the engine life and quality of the bike overall.

Apart from the reg servies and oil changes, nothing

                      • How RTR 160 handles thrashing?

One question from me to the experts here. How will the RTR160 take thrashing

                        I am serious here

Recently i sold my bullet and bought a used 2009 July model RTR160 with 5800km on odo.
I liked the torque factor and the high RPM performance. The point here is high RPM riding. I love to do this but not sure how the TVS engine take all the abuse. Will it affect the bike performance and increase vibrations and other *&^% even during my daily (safe and slow ) commute to office?

I have a psychic disorder to maintain my bikes in perfect condition, inherited from my bullet days and even if this means keeping down the RPM of my RTR below 5K i got to follow tis. Please advice.

What all things should i take care in extra?

                        Comment

                        • @evolutiontheory - i dont think there should be any problem unless you ride above 7000 RPM all the time .let the engine get warmed up before hard riding and a good semi synthetic oil change at regular intervals should keep engine running for a long time .

                          • @evolutiontheory: Almost every RTR/ RTR Fi owner here rips their bikes to 10k rpm frequently.

Just rev if ithout thinking anything else. Its short stroke engine. RTR engine gives its full potential above 6.5 k. i have clocked around 30k kms, with 80% riding at 100+/-5 kmph speeds. No issues so far.
